It’s my 18th birthday. We went to the local beach that day, which is no more than 20 miles away from home. My sister is chowing down her ice cream before it melts and she makes a mess everywhere. It's 4 in the afternoon, on a hot June day. We walked around the boardwalk a couple of minutes ago, and are now taking a short rest. I look at my surroundings. 2 adults playing volleyball, a kid making a sandcastle, and some people out in the ocean. But looking to my left, I see another family, with a son who looked around the same age as me. He was...
Jimmy hated school. He would do anything to get out of it. This morning was different than usual. He felt even more irritated to go to school. It’s not because he is bored of school, well, kind of. He hates virtual learning. Going to school and seeing everyone is flesh and blood is much better than staring at a pixelated screen, getting headaches every day. Meanwhile, his siblings love virtual school. They were all younger than him, so their school ended early. After their class, they would stare at his computer, watching his teache...
Tommy LOVED reading. Ever since he learned how to read, he was fascinated. Every book he read, it felt like he was dropped into a whole new world and had to start over. He went through books like fire, reading a few every day when he was younger. Although he enjoyed reading, he wanted to make other books so his readers would fall into a new world, just like him. Fortunately, he learned about writing in the upcoming years. His father loved reading, and since Tommy loved his father, he too began reading and reading and reading. Words ...

Ben is a very enthusiastic person, well, at least he used to be. He loved nature when he was younger. Going to the park every afternoon with his parents was always the highlight of the day. Playing on the colorful swings, see-saws, and slides made his day. But sadly, that may never happen again. The area that used the be the park is now a city dump. More factories are being built in the city, so the waste is dumped in the park. Just a few years ago, a climate crisis happened. The smoke from the factories left only specks of the ozone layer. ...

I hated this. I mean, what kind of stupid idea is it to go to Alaska in a winter cabin during the summer break, when my friends are having a blast at a pool party. I HATE THE WINTER! THE ONLY FUN THING TO DO IS PLAY SNOWBALL FIGHT, BUT THE SNOW IS ONLY HALF AN INCH HIGH! Sorry for the caps, but I'M PROVING MY POINT! Sorry again... Anyway, I was angry at my parents for the dumb idea, and before I could protest, they held up the plane tickets. "Pleath come. Pweeeeth," Abby, my little sister yelled, lisping the 's'. "Pweeeethe" "...
My boss disappeared a few months ago. He was last seen entering the office on security cameras. After his disappearance, the office turned into total chaos. We never predicted a situation like this. A few days later, the board elected a new boss. She's strict and restricted many areas we normally used to go to, like the pantry, lounge room, and other epic parts of the building. The only room we are allowed to go in is our office and the cafeteria. Day after day, it's been the same; almost uniform. He was gone during the summer. His parents h...

His parents were worried. Jake has been arriving home from school with bruises everywhere. Scratch marks on his knees and elbows were common; blackeyes too. But the boy never complained. The only words he told his parents after arriving home were, "I fell". After the phrase came out of his mouth, he threw his backpack on the couch and ran up the stairs, and slammed his bedroom doors shut. Whenever the parents pressed their ears on the boy's door, they heard wailing. The boy threw the book across the room to the door when the parents ask p...

Day 1I woke up with a start. My heart was pounding. I looked around at my surroundings. Just sand. I then looked at myself. Thoughts spread into my mind. Where am I? What is this place? Who am I? Why don't I remember anything?I got up and started walking around the area I was in. Broken buildings were everywhere, along with cars and street lamps, all covered by sand. I slowly walked near one of the buildings. I found a sign on the building and read it.NYSESuddenly, random memories started forming in my head. I remember being in school. My so...
Flatlines. Screaming. Pain. Eventually, death. The hospital was full of patients. Some dead, some on the verge of death. In front of me was a young boy. He looked around 12 years old. There were several bruises on his forehead and arms. His leg had a sharp piece of metal sticking out of it. I winced. Several doctors were around me, also looking at the boy. We were all new and had never operated on a patient before. From the look of their faces, I could tell they have given up."There's no use," exclaimed Alex, one of the doctors."This is too ...

"Detective Leo, the nation's renowned detective has solved the case of the missing ingredient. He has done this by...", said Leo to his grandkids. "Wait... wait," interrupted Matthew, one of Leo's grandkids. "Shhhhhhhhh. Don't make grandpa stop the story," Angela exclaimed. Matthew made a face at her. "You can't be the boss of me," he replied, in a harsh tone. "Yeah. You make us play whatever you want," said Sam. "I just wanted to get a quick snack," Matthew replied. Sam turned around and stared at Matthew "This time,...

Everything happened in a flash. I was just about to go to sleep when I heard the telephone ring. I used a rotary dial phone, which meant that I won't know who’s calling me. I walked over to the phone and held it up to my ear. "Hello?," I answered. "Hello. This is the Glasscam Police Department. I am the sheriff of this town. You have been convicted of the murder of a person named Paul Smith, who was killed this night. I have sent a few officers to escort you to the department," the sheriff replied. "E-- Excuse me, but I-- I haven't ...
