The phone kept buzzing and buzzing. The incessant buzzing of the phone on any surface, anywhere you put it. Eventually, he had to turn off all notifications, but people would call, too. They'd be from the news, or some blog, tabloid, forum, Facebook groups as well. People asking about a comment about the whole fiasco. He shook his head as he turned off the phone in disbelief. Wearing a hat and sunglasses he hoped no one would recognize him from the photos on his social media. Fifteen minutes of fame they call it, right? He figured he would b...

The groceries were once again not fastened. I should not have put them up. I should have put them behind the seat. Now they are only waiting for one small braking maneuver to throw everything overboard, possible even some milk up my neck. It isn't like I already get enough regurgitated milk on my chest, or anywhere else for that matter. I look over to the little time-demon that gives me so much joy. A second too long I stare at him and notice that the car in front of me stopped. I jerk the car to a stop and the bag in the back falls over. A ...

The bees where humming and buzzing all around the garden as they gathered up the sweet serum and distributed the pollen. They've been doing it for millennia and were truly experts at their craft. Highly efficient, dedicated, and focused. Much like grandfather had been his entire life and something that had been drilled into him from an early age, as it had been for all the boys at the time. Diligence was everyone's middle name. He had truly been a busy bee most of his life. Now he was quite the opposite as he lounged on a chair in the garden...

Start your story with a character looking out of a window in the middle of the night. He stares into the hollow eyes of the city skyline that seemed to have no end as he peered towards it, save for the fact that it would eventually end in his own reflection. The lights of the city are like stars in the sky just as the stars in the sky are like sand on the beach. They all have one thing in common in that they are absolutely and entirely different. Just as he had always been different. Impatiently he started upon the horde of man-made stilts...

The twin suns revolved in their eternal dance peacefully in the summer sky and bathed everything in a calming light. It was quite hot if you did not stay in the shade, but a cool wind would pick up every now and then and give you some solace. The street was filled with younglings playing in the streets as the wind carried their voices far and wide, their laughter and their screams intertwined and alternated just as the two suns above them. The main street of the town had it's storefronts but none was as popular as the one that sold cooled dr...

"T-take t-this... it's... dangerous out there..." He had held her hand tightly as he laid on the floor releasing his last breaths. She reached out for his arm that held the item, he clenched her hand as he breathed sharply, struggling to speak words of the utmost importance, but he struggled as his life slowly faded from him. In tears she simply stared back at his agony-filled face that fought hard against the ever-quickening mortality that enveloped him. "It... can save you in a moment of dire need... It... It can take you away. Be carefu...

The date was approaching duly and many preparations were made to ensure that things would go over smoothly. Ricardo sat in his office and looked at the numbers and they all added up nicely. The higher-ups in the hierarchy had cascaded the plans for the big reveal and he prepared them accordingly. The hardest thing he had to do was deal with the cartel that was shipping the produce to the warehouses. At first they were suspicious about him and his request. Why would the Coca-Cola Company want to buy such copious amounts of cocaine? They were ...

Browsing through the news he could still not believe what he was seeing. Restrictions over restrictions. Wearing a mask surely made things easier. Together with a hat and the right bulky clothing, he would not be easily spotted by cameras of any sort. He could hide his tools easily under a jacket and most people would not think twice about seeing him, nor recognize him. Yet he realized that his target would not be so easily reached. All he did was go to the supermarket, and at irregular times, no certain day, and mostly in broad dayl...

Garbanar Trulecks turned to me and gave out a sigh with a long wail. His pet Homo sapiens had once again dirtied it's habitat with it's own feces. "It's a shame. We usually see this behaviour in the older ones." He added it would sometimes "screech non-stop when it saw me" and complained it would curse at it. "I even learned their language but apparently this one speaks another tongue. It's been a rough start."Garbanar, in all of his benevolence, was patient and outright forgiving to it. One should not be ashamed to admire such grace and for...

There she is. Such a cute face and those freckles are adorable, too. She is always on my mind and I often wonder if she likes the same things as me. I think I will ask her for her phone number today. I will say "Hey, I have seen you working here a few times. Want to hang out sometime?" No wait, that sound stupid. I can't say that. What a weird thing to say. No, I need to be cooler. Maybe more something along the lines of "Are you doing anything after work?" I mean her shift probably started. It's only 10a.m. but I guess I could ask her wha...

The cold and damp walls were oppressing simply by their existence. It had been raining the night before and water was seeping through the ceiling and running along the walls down further into, presumably, other cells and on other people. They'd cup their hands and collect water and give it to people who were sick or weaker. There were a surprisingly large amount of elderly people there as well, but also people of all other ages. This truly was an interesting time. More people swelled up in the prison and it seemed every day more people would...

Write about a character who’s finally on the verge of achieving their lifelong dream. The last city, the capital, is on the brink of ruin. The citiy's outskirts have been surrounded by the 4th and 6th army. The cannons still release hellish round after round upon the walls of the city. Unrelenting and sturdy, the walls give a good fight but they are no match for the cannons. Day after day they had been pounded and day after day the city of Wislik rebuilt the walls but their strength was leaving them. Trebuchets had fired diseased corpses i...
Write about a character who makes a dramatic life change to pursue a goal they’ve secretly always wanted. "Do you also have roses?" The man across me asks. If my eyes had the capability of rolling, they'd have been spinning. I answer this question so often each day, it drives me insane. "Yes, sir. To your right." I say in a cheery service voice, as I am accustomed to over the years. He gives me a smile of acknowledgement and starts perusing them. Roses, so uninspired but also our best seller. It is one of the only flowers that sells cons...

The sun rises, it is time to begin the day. I clean my feathers and look out from the cliffs and see the sun dancing upon the waves. The wind is blowing a bit strong and I ruffle my feathers to clean them more thoroughly. After a stretch of my pink feet I look to my partner. We have taken care of our goslings very well, all but one perished. Three strong goslings and all male. They will find good mates and provide well for them. The one that perished fell to a fox a moon past. I still am filled with sorrow for him, he was a kind gosling to h...

They told me grand stories of this city. They said this city iseverything you could dream of and more. I never doubted a single story that came from here. I was always sure that they were true. Why would anyone lie about the Spire? Why would people fabricate stories of what goes on in the streets? No one ever talked about the slums of course, no one would go there. If anyone mentioned it they'd play it down. I remember one story the most and that ended up being the story that would spark my reason for heading to New Fulcra. I was a young b...
