Kat pulls on the doorknob, nothing happens. You’ve got to have the key, you see. Nobody ever got through that door without a key. I peeled open the curtains that clung heavy with dust and squinted. Morning light was filtering in through the kitchen window despite a persistent cloud’s attempts at casting it aside.
