Author bio

My name is Florencia Lazcano, and I am writing to introduce myself and share my passion for writing and storytelling. I come from Argentina, a country rich in history and culture, shaped by the waves of European immigrants who looked for a new beginning after the Second World War. Growing up in a picturesque Italian neighbourhood, I was immersed in the tales of expats and the deep roots of my own family. These experiences torched a flame, pushing me to express myself through the written word from a tender age. At the young age of sixteen, I embarked on my writing journey, joining a local newspaper where I discovered the power of storytelling. When I turned twenty-three, two of my stories were published in a Spanish anthology book. A few years later, I began contributing to Resistiendo con ides, an Argentinean online magazine known for its thought-provoking content. Driven by a thirst for knowledge and a desire to expand my horizons, I steadied to become an English teacher. Studying a new language opened doors for me to write in English, which soon evolved into my language of choice for most of my work. I had the privilege of writing for Sinful Celluloid, an American movie reviews site, and SillyLinguistics, where I explored the world of language and linguistics. In 2018, I made the life-changing decision to move to Canada. Little did I know that shortly after my arrival, the world would be paused by a pandemic. However, I refused to let adversity drain my creative spirit. Instead, I welcomed solitude as fuel for my creative projects, allowing my writing to grow amidst the chaos. Today, as I continue to evolve as a writer, I find myself drawn to themes of immigration, love stories, and the beauty found in the simplest of things. I believe that every ordinary aspect of life can be transformed into poetry, and I aim to capture the essence of these moments through my words. I am eager to connect with fellow writers, publishers, and individuals passionate about storytelling. I am open to collaborations, writing opportunities, and any chance to contribute my unique voice to the literary world. My latest work is published in the Peter McGill journal, filling me with happiness.
