Black Feathers

Taking a deep breath in, I spread my wings. A cold gust of wind almost unbalanced me, but I dug my talons deeper into the bark of the oak tree I had perched myself on. My wings flapped rapidly, throwing black feathers all over. The yellow tint of the clouds was a clear sign of snow. I looked down at my feathers, noticing how sleek they were, compared to the baby fluff feathers I had the week prior. They had a tint of purple to them, but the main color was black. The knife in my hand felt cold, but not as cold as my blood that ran throughout my whole body. I was shaking, blood stained the carpet beneath me. The cold, sugary liquid dripped down my hand. It’s source was the long red, white, and blue popsicle I held. I always ate it from the bottom up, but this way took too long. I stared in the mirror, heart beating in my ears. This was going to be the most important day of my life. My father wouldn’t be here to walk me down the aisle as he always did in my dreams, but I knew he would be watching. Tears welled into my eyes, but I blinked them away. Author bio

Some things about me: I love animals, and stories from the point of view of animals. My all time favorite authors are Erin Hunter. I love singing and drawing.

A deeper dive: I usually try to include experience of my life in my stories. You might notice that in some of my stories, the character's father is either deceased or has cancer. I find this to be a part of my writing that I don't choose for it to be there, it just forces its way into my stories. I'm an 11 year old writer and I don't ever come in these contests expecting to win, but mainly to spread my work.

Also, I have a question. Would you guys prefer me to do first person perspective or third person? I'm comfortable with both, so the choice is up to you guys! Thanks for readng! Stay safe!
