 My room seemed brighter when I awoke on that last morning in November. I pulled back the curtain to behold a landscape transformed. December 13, 2018 - 8:15 A.M. It wasn't the fourth of anything, certainly not July. Snow sparkled on every surface, lending magical stillness to the generally tranquil Willow Way Circle, a subdivision of Fairville, Illinois. Every lacy flake had yet to be disturbed by shovel, blower, or plow. I'm an Illinois woman who should have gotten my act together sooner than my fifties when it comes to my dream of being published. I have a B.A. in English and excelled at writing, including a newsletter and grant proposals, during my career in social services. I've always dabbled in poetry but only recently figured out I need to complete a first draft before going back to edit when writing prose. Now I'm actually finishing some of my short stories I start, and that's a major victory for me. I've also edited and completed the synopsis for someone else's novel and am co-authoring another. Thanks for this opportunity, and I hope you enjoy my work.
