I used to read because I wanted to, but now I read because I have to. Escapism comes in many forms and this is mine. My newest read lays in my lap, my fingers already holding the next page ready to flip it. Ding.. ding.. Ding ding ding, the lovely heroine’s door rang. No doubt her love interest coming to confess. “Ding! Hello?” A hand waved between my face and my book. It only takes a few seconds for me to realize the dinging was coming from the reception bell. My attention is turned from it to the person in front of me. Black hair, m...

TW: suicide June I hate the person in the mirror. I think I must love hating the person in the mirror though. Why else would I have so many mirrors? The only wall without a mirror is the one my bed is against. It has a window instead, but the window is just as dangerous. The world outside it moves. The reminder that the world will keep spinning is the worst part. I don’t want it to keep spinning and I can't even comprehend why it didn’t stop. I’ve spent a week staring at her. I don’t know who she is, but she looks rough. Brunette locks tangl...

“We can't think of changing our skin ... Change the world—that's how we gotta think.” - The Secret Life Of Bees A day to relax. To take a break from the struggles of my daily life. It’s ninety-two degrees outside however, the sun beating down on me is less effective due to the sh...

Running as fast as my feet can carry me. The air is brimming with a green fragrance reflecting my surroundings. Tall fescue grass tickling my ankles with each stride. Sticks threatening to trip me. At eye level all that can be seen is the dense pines, bark, and moss passing by. Above me the canopy is a maze of branches and leaves with an intense pine smell. Behind the canopy is a menacing grey sky, cold and somber. I hear steps pounding close behind me. Are they catching up? I can’t risk questioning whether they’re closing in or if I’m ...

I slowly turn off the warm water and pull the grey ombre shower curtain aside. When I open it I feel the air hit me only slightly cooler than in the shower. I quietly step out grabbing my light grey towel off the hook. I wrap it around myself tucking it under my arm. I put on my lace underwear and bralette both a blush pink set. Then I slip on a silky cool grey robe. I look into the mirror, still too foggy to see my reflection. Instead it’s replaced by a blur of myself. My dark red hair, the color of cherries, falls down my back in loose rin...

It was finally time. Today was the day I would kill someone. That may seem terrible but, trust me they deserve it. They're always causing problems, Annoying to everyone around them ,and no one likes them. I’ll take them to the rooftop of the Chicago Cultural Center. You might be wondering who this person is. I guess you’ll figure it out when the time comes. Well. I guess it’s time. I slip on my slides and walk out the door not bothering to lock it. It’s not like it matters now. I have so many thoughts floating through my head ,but it’s like ...
