This story is dedicated to the author's beloved, handsome long hairedpussy-cat, Tommy Fluffy-Ruffles, (who can't hunt) and also dedicated to anyone that loves cats. My name is Tom, although my owner calls me Sir Tommy Fluffy-Ruffles. My owner’s name is Alice, and she could not decide between calling me Tommy and Sir Fluffy-Ruffles, so she asked her boyfriend who said ‘Why not both’. I’m not very keen on the name but there’s not too much I can do about it. Alice is a wonderful owner, apart from her unfortunate habit of standing on the door st...
I’m a delivery driver for a supermarket. It’s not the most glamorous job in the world but it pays the rent. I have got a wife, and two kids to take care of so I can’t be too fussy. I often wish I had worked a bit harder in school, but what’s done is done. I was never top of the class anyway, never been a brainy sort of person, but if everyone was brainy who would deliver shopping? I often make my job more interesting by glancing at the items as I pack the van and then imagining what the person will be like based on their shopping list. I see...

I met him at the office Christmas party, such an awful cliché. He worked in another department and a friend of mine at work knew his manager, so we went over to chat to her, and he was there next to her, looking sophisticated. It was love at first sight really. I started talking to me and we found out that we had everything in common, even down to the same obscure taste in music. We’d both kept a pet snake before, so many weird coincidences. I was smarting from a very bad break up from my son’s father a year previously and I’d not had the re...
Blake had everyone fooled at the start. Even my friends thought he was great. We were 18 year old sixth formers and he was studying medicine at Oxford University. Oxford. I used to love telling people that. I cringe when I think of myself at our family’s big Christmas party, telling every single relative that asked how I was that I was very well and that I was dating a lovely future doctor from Oxford University. I was so naïve, I can barely believe that I thought cleverness would make someone a good person. I didn’t think really.Things star...
From the minute I walked in she was hostile. Bristling like a cat that has been stroked the wrong way, suspicious of my every move. I was annoyed that Jack had but me in this position, but at the same time, He’d been a good friend to me too, over the years, so I could hardly say no. House clearing should not have been too difficult if it weren’t for the awful atmosphere. I was there as a buffer more than anything. It was very cruel that Jack had only reconciled with his father a year previously and now he was gone. It was amazing and a testa...
