To my inner angels who kept fighting against the demons of my mind, I want to thank you for it. And to those inner monsters of mine, thank you for being my inspiration for the nightmares that came out of these stories. To the angels who stood beside me while I battled the evil inside of under my own skin that I kept covered, these books and stories will represent how you have been there for me.

And to the younger me, who probably didn’t know that they were main character in their own grand tale; you were going to do great things. Don't you ever look back and question the choices that lead you to the me that I have become...

The girl had left her spot to stare at the waves, lost in her thoughts. She longed for her own world and to get off the island, but Adaline was too busy trying to stop Ethan that they couldn't take care of them self. Writing was the only thing that helped Adaline with their depression, meaning that if they get lost in one of their stories, the Adaline in the real world will be in trouble. The girl looked back on when she saw Adaline and James from the shoreline. Adaline’s eyeliner hid the dark bags under their eyes as their brown eyes watched where Ethan had fallen into. Their left arm had turned a shade of light pink and black ink started to form a tattoo just above the wrist. It looked like a small wolf paw but the distance between them made it hard to say. The girl’s one blue eye widened at that memory. The curse was still in their veins...

Ethan still stood on the shoreline thinking to himself as his green eyes mirrored the waves. All bodies of water have a primal lure, their beauty is matched only by their haunting mystery. But these bodies of water are actually haunted…or so the legends go. The waters are full of horror. Back in the colonial days, there were people called ‘wreckers.’ They would stand on beaches with lanterns and trick ships into running aground and then loot the ship and kill anyone who survived on the beach. They’d then drag their bodies back to the water to make it look like a normal shipwreck. This is just one of the water’s nightmares. People say that the waters are cursed. According to legends, there are women who drowned themselves in the water after being separated from their true love. Still searching for him today, they lure young men to their death in the green waters. There are clouds of death in these waters. When diving, a huge seiner net drifts towards unsuspecting people. It wasn’t anchored or attached to anything. Just a huge whirling cloud of death, full of barnacles and dolphin skeletons and decomposing fish. Some of the creatures of the deep are pure evil, but true evil can be found on land, Ethan thought to himself as he opened the little notebook. The notebook had big bright lettering that read Ethan Edward Eval on the first page. There was a small text below that said, “The boy was indeed a part of the creator”…

As Ethan read the story as a portal opened before him. Ethan got up to step through the portal, leaving the notebook behind him as he left…

DIP, DIP.

The rain outside hit the window of the small bedroom of the proud writer. The heat from the fireplace downstairs made the room warmer. A young boy sat at a desk by the window and an older girl stood by his side, reading the short murder story.

“Wow, E. That’s really good. But what happened to Archie?” The girl, a blond teen wearing a pink tee-shirt and jeans, named Mary Ann asked the boy named Ethan or “E”.

E had the smile of a madman when he spoke, “Archie Smith found Elizabeth. Those who find Elizabeth must be the one to give up their body.” And now you’ll give up yours. This thought made E smiled as he pulled out a blank piece of paper and began to write.

As E wrote, Mary Ann slowly turned to face the closet. She had no control of her body. She opened the door. There on the floor was Elizabeth. She had a sharp-toothed smile.

E stared at his newest story, his eyes full of pride. Behind his chair on the floor was a small pool of blood, right by the closet. E sat at his desk when a portal opened up in his bedroom. E’s mouth dropped as Ethan stepped out of the portal. The pen of Death was in his hand and E fell to his knees, choking on his own blood as Ethan’s green eyes were hollow and cold. Ethan’s green eyes stared down at the dying boy, “Sorry, but I can’t let my feelings get in the way of my goals.” Ethan then turned, leaving E in a pool of his own blood, just as the bedroom door opened…

Susan Eval, an eight-year-old girl with light copper hair, was shy and was the younger sister of the original Ethan Eval or ‘E’. Her heart may have been the heart of a fairy tale princess for she was kind and pure. She liked to think that she was born to be E’s light in life. E, her older brother, was dark and cold-hearted, but in the eyes of a young sister E was smart and brave for he did not fear death. In fact, E enjoyed death a bit too much as if it were a game. Susan knew her brother well and could see the words that made him. She saw what her world was; a story. She saw words everywhere and she was okay with that, but that night her world came to a sudden stop...

She stood above his body in horror. She bolted out of his bedroom and down the stairs where their parents sat watching TV. Susan’s knees gave out beneath her as her Dad rushed to catch her, “Susan!” She tried to breathe but it felt like someone was shredding her throat with a razor. The TV was still on and a breaking news headline appeared on the screen. The lady was wearing a gas mask when the camera came on, “A new pandemic has come out of nowhere and has already wiped out hundreds of people. The government has asked that people still inside with the windows closed and not turn on the taps. They haven’t figured out where the virus came or how it moves, so be aware and stay safe.” Susan couldn’t make sense of any of this; her big brother is dead and upstairs, the world’s population is slowly dying down to almost nothing, and everything around her started to lose its color. Breathing at this point was too painful; Susan had to hold onto her mother for support. Then the lights went out...

Ethan had put one world in the box...
