EDEN'S GARDEN
"Rigor! Jasmine's here." His mom shouted. 'Jasmine? Why is she here?' He thought to himself. Jasmine has been her best friend ever since they were just a kid. "Alright! I'm just give me a minute." He shouted back. He is currently preparing for his date today with Vanessa. The princess like woman she met for quite some time now. He decided to ask Vanessa to be his officially.
"Hey, Jas. What's up?" He greeted.
Jasmine looked up at her best friend with fear and second guessing whether or not she should tell Rigor what's bothering her. "Hey, Jas? You okay? Is something bothering you?" Jasmine doesn't know how would she put everything she wanted to say into a sentence. She's terrified that he would not believe him.
"N-Nothing. I'm fine. I just want to say good luck on your date.” The lass gave her a small smile before taking off their place, but before she was totally gone out of his sight she started talking again. “A-Are you really happy with her?” That question confused the hell out of Rigor. He doesn’t know what is going on with her best friend. “Of course, Jas. What’s happening with you? What’s with this sudden question?” Instead of getting some answers Jasmine just gave him a tearful smile. “Alright, then. I should be really happy for you too. Goodbye Rigor.” The lad was left dumbfounded with what his friend told him. He’s getting more confused than before, but at the same time he was kind of guilty because he obviously know that Jasmine is not alright but instead being there for his friend he didn’t even bother staying for a bit just to talk to her.
To: Jasmine
I’ll go to your place later, alright? We’ll talk about what’s bothering you.
He texted just to stop himself from feeling guilty, but he didn’t got any reply from her. He just decided to ignore it for a while and focused on the date he’ll be having with his future girlfriend.
“Hey, love. You look ravishing as ever.” He greeted while giving his girl a kiss on a forehead. “You’re not so bad yourself, Mister.” Vanessa sweetly uttered. Their night went very well. Up until the time has finally come. He’s going to drop the question. “Nessa, I know this may sound too fast for you knowing that we only met for about 4-5 months now, but I want you to know that I’m always thousand percent when I’m with you. You don’t how much you change my life and I’ll be always thankful for that. So, My love, Vanessa, will you be my girlfriend?” He nervously stated. Shock was evident in Vanessa’s eyes but she’s really happy with his confession.
“Are you sure about this?” The lass question.
“Of course I am. What kind of question is that.” Rigor stated still nervous and waiting for his lady’s answer. “Well then, It’s a yes!” Vanessa happily answered that made Rigor sighed in relief and joyfully embraced his now official girlfriend. His very grateful to call Vanessa his girl now. He can’t wait to tell this to his best friend.
Three days had past and he still feels ecstatic knowing that he now calls his girl of his dreams his girlfriend. He doesn’t know how to explain his happiness. They been on dates for the past days too he was not able to check on his best friend like he told her before. So now, he decided to pay Jasmine a visit, but before she even went out of their house, Vanessa was there sitting in the hood of his car.
“Hey, love. What are doing here? Do we have a date today?” He asked the moment he went near her. “I-I’m sorry baby.” A tear fell on the Vanessa’s face making Rigor panic and scared. “H-Hey, why are you crying. Hush now my love, I’m here.” He comforted.
“J-Jasmine’s gone, Rigor.”
“W-What?” He cannot believe what she’s saying right now. He doesn’t want to believe it too. ‘That's not possible. I’m actually on my way there right now.’ He thought to himself. “No… T-That’s not true. I’m going there right now.” He doesn’t know what to do he kept pacing back and forth scared of what he would see there if he goes.
“I’m sorry, baby. S-She took her life last night. S-She left me her phone. She asked me to give it to you.”
“What?! No! S-She won’t do that! She values her life! She wouldn’t do that to herself. F*ck! This is my fault I should have stayed for a while for her.” Rigor is now starting to cry out of guilt and anger. He’s guilty for not being with his best friend’s side when she needs him. He’s mad at himself for not even asking if she’s really alright that day. His blaming himself for his best friend’s death. Meanwhile, Vanessa was really sad seeing her love of her life with this situation, but she knows that this needs to be done to be with Rigor forever.
“Baby, let’s go to your room, okay? Let’s take some rest. Your best friend would not be happy to see you like this.”
That’s what they did. Vanessa put Rigor to sleep to give him some time to rest and since Rigor got all tired from crying he slowly falling asleep with Vanessa’s arms.
After some time he finally woke up from a deep slumber, immediately thought that everything was just a dream, but to his dismay everything was real the moment he saw Jasmine’s phone on his bedside table he doesn’t have the courage to open it for now, so he decided to look for his mom to see if she was doing alright knowing that Jasmine is gone now. Jasmine is very dear to his family so he knows that it will also break them if they know that Jasmine is now gone.
“Mom?” He shouted but no one’s responding. Up until he reached to their dining area he noticed a familiar figure. “Vanessa? What are you doing here?”
“Oh finally, you’re awake! You’ve been asleep for two days. You must be really tired… Have a seat I prepared something for us.” Rigor followed still looking confused why is his girlfriend here. “What? Two days?” Vanessa nodded. “Well, have you seen my mom?”
“Y-Your parents went on a trip.” Vanessa stuttered making Rigor wonder. “Did they know about w-what happened to J-Jasmine.” Vanessa just nodded and asked him to just eat his food.
“Do you know when’s gonna be Jas’ f-funeral?” Vanessa just shrugged her shoulder and hold Rigor’s hand making the lad sigh.
Later that night, Rigor decided to finally open his best friend’s phone. He started to check the photos and he started crying seeing those big smiles he would totally miss seeing. Videos they totally had fun doing. He also checked his best friend’s social media accounts nothing quite suspicious was in there. All of her post were positive and inspiring making him think why would his best friend they her own life.
He last checked was the Notes. There are journal entries, poem, even lyrics to some songs she’s creating but nothing suspicious about there too making him clueless why would she want to give her phone to him. He tried to check the recently deleted notes and there… A goodbye letter for him.
Goodbye, Rigor…
The title stated. He tried to retrieve it which he successfully did. However, he can’t open it because it was password protected. He was too desperate to open it so he tried every possible password his best friend might put. But after many tries he still can’t open it. He was done for to tonight he’s mentally tired and still can’t believe that his best friend is now gone.
Around midnight, he woke up from a weird dream. Jasmine’s visiting him in his dreams. Jasmine’s talking to him, but she just kept bidding goodbye making it more painful for Rigor. But a thought suddenly popped into his mind. He quickly open Jasmine’s phone once again and tried typing the words he thought.
“Bingo!” He whispered. The password was right before his eyes. He was too nervous to read the letter from his best friend. He breath deeply before reading it.
Goodbye, Rigor…
Probably now, you would not be able to see me ever again, but I just want you to know that I’m really happy for you even if it hurts me to see you gone…
His forehead creased with what he just read. It don’t make sense for him. ‘Is it just a typographical error? Why would she say that I’m the one who’s gone?’ He even thought to himself.
You must be really confused what the hell I’m talking about right? You’ll know soon. You don’t know how painful for me to let go of you, but when I asked you if you’re really happy with her… I threw all the fear and pain I’m feeling to support you. Even if it means losing you for good. I would take that, knowing that you’re really happy with your decision. That’s all that matters. Hope you would enjoy there, okay? I wish we could still talk even if you’re in a complete different world now. I’m sorry for not bidding goodbye properly. I’m sorry for turning my back on you. I wish I was able to hug you for one last time. I love you, Rigor. Be happy.
Rigor’s confused with what’s the letter trying to imply. He was not the one who left why does it felt that way. Everything does not make sense at all. He’s so frustrated and confused as hell now. He breath deeply while brushing his hair with his hands when Vanessa entered the room.
“So you finally read the letter. Are you ready?” Rigor creased his forehead more before facing his girlfriend as if asking what does she mean. “Everyone’s ready for us Ri. This is what you want, right? To be with me forever. Now, I want you to see my world.”
“W-What? I don’t understand what are you t-talking about.”
“Does this explain everything now?” The lass stated while exposing an uncanny thing in her back. “W-what are you?!” Rigor panicked. “You said you’re sure about me. Why are you looking at me like that now?” Pain was evident in Vanessa’s eyes making Rigor worry for her.
I mean, yes he loves the girl but he didn’t know if he’s really ready to enter her world. They are totally different creatures. She’s a fairy and well he’s a human. ‘Is this even possible?’ He thought to himself. “I-I don’t know what’s happening. Please, enlighten me Vanessa. Y-You’re a fairy?”
“The moment you asked me to be your girl it simply means that your more than willing to beat everything against all odds.” “I know that! But I didn’t know… up to this extent? I mean to m-my defense you didn’t even bother to give me a heads up about this? How could you? How could you put me right on this spot?”
“I-I was afraid you’d leave me. I’m sorry baby. Please say you’d still want to be with me.” Vanessa plead, however Rigor’s still trying absorb everything he discovered. “D-Does this mean that Jasmine’s still alive?” He suddenly remembered. “Y-Yeah. But she wanted to give you her phone to serve as a remembrance. She told me that she’ll miss you very much, but you don’t have to worry about them because they were happy that your following your heart.”
That breaks his heart how could his best friend not tell that he knows what’s going on, but he knows that’s a hard decision for her too. Her action makes sense now. Her weird question make sense now. ‘Am I really ready for this?’ He asked himself and blankly stare at the girl infront of him. ‘I guess, I’m ready for it… She worth it. I just can’t let go of her.’ He let go of a sigh ready to give her some answer but he was cutted immediately. “Baby, if you’re not ready, I’ll understand. I’ll send you ba–“
“No. No, I’m ready love. I love you, and I’m following my heart. I love you Vanessa.”
Vanessa immediately jumped at him and gave him a big hug while happily crying in his arms. “A-Are you sure?” She asked once again. “Thousand percent, sure.” He joyfully stated making Vanessa tightened her hug. ‘I hope you are happy with my decision Jas… I’ll miss you. I’m sorry for turning my back on you too, but she’s my happiness. Please look out for my family and take care of yourself, alright? I love you, best friend. Goodbye.’ He quietly thought hoping that his best friend’s hearing him.
“Baby, you ready?” Vanessa tried to catch his attention, which she succeed. The lad just gave him a nod and held her hand.
“Rigor, Welcome to Eden’s Garden…”

Great twist! But I personally found the grammar a bit overwhelming. You can use grammarly if you want. It's what I use and it's very helpful. Also, it seem you have a habit of telling and not showing. Try to let the story unfold, and not as if you are simply dictating what is happening. I feel that that is what's happening as I read the story. The plot twist in the end definitely got me! Although, a bit more clarity could have been more welcome. Rigor was simply shocked by what he saw, but the text didn't say what, which made it more confusi...

Thank you so much! I really appreciate you pointing out what I need to improve. Can you tell me more of what needs to be done in order to tell or show my story more enticing? Please, it would be an honor. Thank youuu!
