Jessie and Eloise were two young sisters. Their parents were always telling them to play nicely. But these two quite pretty little girls were mean and catty to each other.
Jessie liked snatching toys from her three year old sister, Eloise. She thought they were better than hers. Eloise liked scribbling on Jessie's books, trying to wreck all the pretty pictures.
It was a normal sort of morning, Jessie was poking her tongue at Eloise, who was crying again.
Then Jessie made a really ugly face at Eloise, until she laughed. Eloise was used to Jessie being naughty.
Jessie and Eloise were sent to the backyard to get some fresh air. It was a nice day, but Eloise tried to push Jessie off their swing. Jessie tripped over, her dress was all muddy in a puddle. Eloise did not even look scared. These two sisters were used to being in trouble with their Mummy and Daddy. They did not know how to play nicely with each other.
Just then, Jessie noticed a cute bunny. He was sitting by the back fence, quietly. Eloise ran over to pick him up. Jerome had arrived. The two little girls were happy for once. Jerome, the little bunny, let the two sisters take turns to give him cuddles. Jerome hopped from Jessie to Eloise, then back again. He kissed each of them with his pink, soft nose. They started to giggle and laugh for once.
Jessie could pat Jerome while he was sitting on Eloise's lap. His fur was like velvet. Now they had a real live pet to spend a happy day playing games.
Jessie's Mummy came to see why the sisters were so quiet for once. "You can't keep the rabbit," she told them, "He is a wild bunny."
"But we can have fun while he is here," Jessie said, always a cheeky little girl. The two sisters did not know that Jerome was a magic bunny.
He snuffled his cute, soft bunny nose, and waved his long ears. Suddenly, the girls found a trail of chocolate bunnies, all around the garden. There was enough for them both to share. For that afternoon, Jessie and Eloise were happy and smiling. Their faces were soon covered in chocolate. They had stopped being mean to each other.
Jerome, the cute bunny, waved his long ears again, and there sat two bunnies, one each. They were both exactly the same. The girls picked up a toy each, and ran inside to play together. Jerome had given them happiness for once. He promised to visit Jessie and Eloise again, so they could all have happy bunny cuddles, one day. Mummy was pleased with her girls. There were chocolate bunnies everywhere in the garden, waiting. Jerome was full of good ideas.
Danger! Danger! Owen was a big boy now. He was five years old. His Mummy never had time to play by himself, she was working. So it was time to play on the back veranda. Owen was supposed to be playing with some simple toys. He was bored, so he took a box of matches. Feeling naughty, he tried to set fire to his Mummy's pot plants.
Danger! Danger! Little boys and girls should not play with matches. it was lucky for Owen, and his Mummy, that the pot plants were a bit soggy. There was a puff of smoke.
A magic bunny hopped up to Owen, somewhere in a suburb. Owen dropped the matches. "My name is Jerome," said the cute bunny.
"I am here to play with you. I am magic, make you feel good."
Jerome let Owen cuddle him. They shared some quiet, happy moments. Then the cute bunny said, "Come on, let's play chase!
As he hopped along the patio, Owen giggled and chased after him.
Soon Owen was laughing, happy again. There was another puff of magical silver smoke. There lay a giant chocolate egg. Owen's eyes grew round. "Is that for me?' He could not believe his good luck.
"Yes," said Jerome, hopping on Owen's lap again.
"Look," said the bunny. By magic, Owen now had a wind-up toy Santa, which could race around the patio.
"Now you can play with your new toy. Put those matches back where you found them. Danger ! Danger! I promise I shall visit you again."
Owen was smiling and pleased. He was soon playing with his toy Santa, while munching on magic chocolate. It was his happy hour. The matches were nearly all gone anyway, so he threw them in the bin. Better late than never. He was planning to be a good kid, so the magic bunny would return one day, in a puff of silver smoke.
Poor Amy. She had the sads. Dear cute little bunny Jerome came hopping through the pet door, hearing Amy crying. So he asked, "What is wrong with you?'
Amy told him, " I feel sad all the time. I don't know why."
Yes, Amy was sad. Even her teacher and Mummy did not know why Amy looked so sad all the time. But Jerome the bunny had an idea to help Amy. He made a puff of magic silver smoke. He made a notebook right next to Amy, with a gold pen. Jerome asked Amy to write down five things that made her smile. Amy really only wanted to write sad things, as she was in a bad mood.
But she put on her thinking cap, and tried to think of happy things. Jerome was soon reading Amy's smiley things,. Amy wrote down, "Ice cream, Jerome the bunny, pets, babycinos, and sparkling fairies."
Even thinking about Jerome made her smile. He could stop her sad face. Amy's sads had vanished. Next time, she could read her list of smiles, and play with her pets, while she ate ice-cream. Jerome was happy as Amy was happy.
Jerome told Amy he would come back for more cuddles.. in between visits, she could play with the sparkling fairy with gleaming wings now fluttering above. The fairy also had a magic basket, full of fun and smiles.
Jerome waved his magic ears, and hopped away through the pet door. Where did Jerome go, as he hopped away? He would return one day, to play with all his new young friends. As the end of that street, this magic little bunny found a golden stair case.
It was late afternoon by now. As the first stars were shining in the sky, little Jerome made it to his home in Heaven. Yes, Jerome's magic and gifts had all come from Heaven. He had been sent to make sad and naughty children smile and play nicely. The children were so happy to have a cute bunny friend. Their magical gifts were lovely.
The little velvety bunny had shown them a new way to play. He was magic, but really kind in spirit, made everyone happy. That was his job, sent from Heaven. Jerome had really achieved the plan, happiness.....
