That last weekend i had a discussion with my boyfriend and started talking about saving up money for the future. He kept telling me he didnt see the need to since we both had jobs and could get things as we needed. He kept trying to drop the conversation when it became a hugh fight. Then me and my boyfriend ended up breaking up and he left the house. I had called my mom and told her I didn't feel like coming this year.
When she asked why i just kept telling her i was tired and had been working late hours. But she kept pushing and I didn't want to tell her what had happened. So I went over to my parents house for a thanksgiving. I remember i was twenty-two and felt family gatherings were over rated. While they were setting up the table, I started munching on some sweet pickles.
My mom came over and lectured me about saving room for dinner. I kept telling her I just needed a little snack. She just continued to argue. I then told her, "fine I don't want to eat that nasty food anyway." Then she said, "you know their are starving people in china."
I laughed and rolled my eyes. "Well good then they can eat your cooking while I go out to eat." I started walking out and only stopped a brief moment to see her crying. As I continued to walk towards my car I noticed the tree house I use to play in as a kid was still up. I decided to go up and take a look. The outside looked old and rotten with moss growing all around it. But when I looked inside it was as if we just built it. I remember asking my dad before he left us to build one for me. But he would give a million excuses of why he could not built it and eventually it never get done. On the day he left, I remember my mom was sad and broken down handed me a hammer and we built the tree house together.
I even remembered when me and my boyfriend came up here and watched the stars. It was the most romantic thing we had done. On the back wall was a picture frame that was built in with a picture of us standing infront of the tree house smiling with wood chips and paint all over us. Underneath the picture it said planted memories. I then smiled at the memory it gave me and sat on the rails of the Tree house porch.
I then thought of how dumb I felt because of how I treated her. as i really thought hard I realized. She must have started early that morning cooking and cleaning the house. She had worked so hard and Yet as tired as she looked she still hasn't stopped. All of a sudden from the ladder my mom appeared.
"I thought you would like this." She sat down beside me and handed me a slice of my favorite dessert moose pie. "Dessert before dinner, isn't that against the rules?" She gave a sly smile. "Yes but I think I can make an exception just this once."
I gave her a couple of bites and then ate the rest. I then turned her way and smiled, "sorry I was so mean before I didn't mean it." "I know,"she then gave me a smile. I gave her a puzzled look, how could she have known how I felt.
" after you left for, well back here your roommate came over with your cell phone."
She looked worried, "I told her you had left and asked her why she had such a worried look on her face. She then told me she was worried about you. That you had a bad breakup with that guy you had been with since forever. and she only said something cause she became worried when she found your phone and you were gone. She then told me how you gave her my address in case of emergencies were she could find you."
I looked down in defeat. "I then saw your car was still here when she left and knew instantly where you had gone. You know it's okay to have a bad day as long as you know you still have people who love and support you." I gave a smile,"thanks mom I know I have all of you who care. I have just been so stressed lately and now I'm just trying to piece everything back together.
I never meant to take it out on you." We headed down from the tree house and I stopped and looked at it one last time. "You know mom i hope when my child comes into this world she can find good memories in this old tree house like we did." My mom froze for a moment then screamed with joy. She gave me a hug as she pushed me back into the house to tell the whole family. As we made it inside a car came screeching into the drive way and my boyfriend came running over. "What are you doing here?" "Please, after we had that arguement and i left i came back and our home phone rang. When i picked it up it was your pharmacy telling me your prenatal vitamins were ready for pick up. I became over joyed and relized that was why you were pushing me to save money and im fine with that.
Please let me come back and be apart of the childs life." I walked over to him and grabbed his hand. "I think we should go inside and celebrate how does that sound? Then we can go home and celebrate more with just us as a family." He bacame thrilled and gave me a hugh hug.
We sat down at the table and as i looked around at all the smiling faces. I rubbed my stomach, looked at that old tree house and smiled. If it wasn't for that old tree house none of this would have been possible.

A lovely story with a lovely ending! For next time, just check your spellings and punctuation. I really liked how the treehouse was a connection between her and her mother too.
