Everything was ready for the ritual. Minax and her companions Eva, Alicia, Minai and Fenella had started making the preparations for this night a year ago and the time had finally come. The leaderless coven was finally able to summon a demon greater than anything mankind had ever seen before. After their leader had been killed by a hunter the year prior, the young witches swore revenge upon the whole world. The witches promised that the world would be destroyed in the name of their matron and they knew the proper demon who would revel in being the one holding the fate of the modern world in her hands. Minax set the last candle down and turned to her sisters, vengeance written clearly in their eyes as they glinted in the candle light, sinister smiles on each of their faces as they turned to hear what their strongest member had to say
“Tonight is the night we avenge our matron. That young man who killed her shouldn’t have gotten away as easily as he had and for that crime against us the world will pay. I ask you now sisters, will you aid me in avenging our leader and stick with me until the ritual is completely finished?”
“We will stick with you to the end Minax” They all said together, in almost perfect unison as well. If it were anyone but Minax who they were talking to it would have totally creeped her out.
“Mankind has treated us poorly for long enough, they burn us at stakes and shove swords through our hearts. How will they feel once they are the ones being chased and slaughtered for once.” Fenella said loudly. She was the oldest of all the girls who remained and was there during the Salem witch trials. Her grudge has been held for a much longer time. The girls that had formed this coven had all lost something greatly to the likes of regular humans but their old covens had said that there was nothing to be done about it. They all had fled from their individual covens and now, sitting here, they were ready for the destruction of men and all that would come after.
They surrounded the pentagram that had been drawn onto the floor and Minax picked up the sacred book of spells and opened to the page on summoning. The photos in the book depicted great shadows covering the earth and swallowing all the light throughout. The girls with Mirax all linked hands around her and waited for her command.
“Lamia invoco te, veni ad terram viventium, ut facias imperata tua, et in reditu nos te e vinculis tartareis liberabimus. Surge!” Minax shouted. The room smelt like sulfur moments after she spoke the words and the lights had darkened several shades. Black fire spat from the center of their summoning circle and Minax could feel the heat pouring from it onto the faces of her and her companions. It felt as though it were searing off her eyelashes and melting her skin off. Moments later, a large shape formed from the fire. The shape had the features of a woman but the eyes were black and soulless. She had magnificent black wings that filled the room and engulfed it in darkness, snuffing most of their candle light out.
“Who dares summon me to your wretched land?” Lilith asked the group of witches before her. Minax could feel and almost see the power and wrath rippling off of her like ripples on water. She motioned to her coven sisters to kneel before the demon. Lilith found this very amusing. “Kneeling before me after you summon me? I am at your mercy and yet you kneel? You worms summoned me, now act like it.”
Alicia stood up first and spoke. “Lilith we have summoned you to ask you one thing and in return we free you from your hellish confines and into the world you so deeply hate.” Alicia may have been the youngest girl with them, only 137, but she had learnt fast how to speak to people far more powerful than she and summoning a greater demon required a vast amount of respect.
Lilith’s smokey figure seemed intrigued by the offer Alicia had given. All of the witches had thought of it together and figured it would work well to get her on their side. “What is the offer you suggest to me, and make it fast before I lose my patience.”
“We want you to destroy mankind. Do what you wish with them slaves, food we do not care but we want you to cleanse the world of their stench.” Fenella offered to the demon. “They have purged our kind from existence for too long, we want them to know how it feels to be hunted.”
Lilith smiled, a cold toothy smile that showed off smoky white fangs. It was oddly comforting to look at. “I like the offer you’ve presented but what of your other sisters in other covens? Are they on board with this?” Lilith seemed genuinely curious though Minax could not imagine why.
The person who answered this question was Eva, who was typically very silent in their discussions which led Minax to trust her less. “None of the covens agree with our methods and it’s obvious why” Minax noticed she edged herself closer to the edge of the circle and stuck her foot out, clearly about to break the circle. “We do not-” Eva started but Minax caught on very fast
“KNOCK HER DOWN.” Minax yelled. Just as Minai tackled Eva to the ground the door was forced open and Eva’s old coven stormed in. Lilith watched amusedly at the whole affair between the witches. Minax figured she wanted to see who had the power and she wasn’t about to allow her plan to crumble now.
“Minax stop this, it's foolish. You can’t wipe out a whole race because of one murder.” Their matron said, slowly edging towards the small group.
“But its not just one murder, over all the years of humaity we’ve been killed for just being us. I want that to end. Our birthright is to practice magic and it's their fault for jealousy and fear.” Minax drew her sword and dagger, her sisters following suit and started the others down. “You can try to get to Lilith but you will fail. Leave now or we will annihilate your whole coven with no mercy.” The other coven took out their weapons and the clash began.
Minax and her clan practiced combat constantly for when they would fight among Liliths armies of hell. The coven that Eva betrayed them to really stood no chance. Minax slashed through one witch and stabbed another in the heart with her dagger. Fenella used her sword and sliced the heads clean off of two witches who tried to gang up on her. No one was getting past these girls. Minai stayed on top of Eva and was holding a dagger to her throat to prevent her from trying anything. Minax would deal with that traitor after. Focusing back on the battle, she cut through another witch and made her way to Alicia, who was being pushed back by three witches. Muttering an incantation, Minax turned herself invisible, which was technically against witch rules but so is lying to your coven so she supposed bending the rules was acceptable now. She snuck up behind the people fighting Alicia and slit one's throat. The confusion gave Alicia time to cut through the other two like trees. Minax took off her spell and smiled at Alicia. Turning to go back to where she was guarding Lilith she saw à witch had slipped by to break the pentagram. Minax had no time to get to her so in à final attempt she yelled “Lamia liberabo te. Tuos strages et omnes purga!”
“Oh finally it’s nice to be free.” Her form slowly materialized to à tall lithe woman with jet black hair and pale skin, her eyes remained black and her smile was still filled with pointy fangs. She walked out of the pentagram, her wings trailing behind her like a wedding train. “Goodbye” were her only words before the remaining people in the other coven were screaming in agony, blood seeping out of a phantom wound. Soon the others were dropping to their knees, wailing, as their blood flew out at an alarming rate. Their skin was turning pale and blood was staining the floor. Despite it all, Minax let out a laugh, it was harsh and cold and maniacal as it left her system. Nothing stood in her way anymore. She and her sisters would watch the world as it burned to the ground. Minax walked over to Eva, the only one still living, and grabbed her by the throat.
“I will never forget what you did today and I will laugh as your beloved mortals die one by one.” She whispered into Eva’s ear and then slowly Minax’s grip around her throat tightened.
