“Dear Diary,                                               Friday October 22nd, 2010

We just moved into the new house, the house of Alex, a 16 year-old who lived with her grandmother. Her grandmother died and she desperately wanted to sell, we needed a house in the area after moving on short notice so we sent her an offer which she accepted. Today’s the first day in the house and I love my room, although I have a lot of unpacking to do. I never met Alex but she was just a little older than me so I’m sure she would be a delight to be around. Now that I think about it, my parents never met her either, but I’m sure that’s just a coincidence. Got to go, my parents need me!

“Dear Diary,                                    Saturday October 23rd, 2010

Yesterday was a long boring day of unpacking, but now my room finally looks homey. Our house is slowly starting to come together and feel comfortable instead of the empty chill it gave when we first moved in. There is one room though that we have no clue what to do with so it’s empty. There’s something erie about that empty room, the way the curtains seem to sway in the wind even when the window isn't open. It’s cold and sends shivers down my spine like I should know something about it that I don’t. We are probably going to turn it into a guest room for anyone that wants to stay over. Although I don’t think we’ll furnish it anytime soon.

Signing out for today,

                       -Ally”

“Dear Diary,                                     Sunday October 24th, 2010

Tomorrow’s my first day of school and I can’t wait! I am quite nervous about meeting everyone but I’m sure it’ll be fine. I never have any trouble making friends, maybe I could ask them about Alex and get to know what she was like. I think that would be a lot of fun to do, I wonder if they liked her or not. I mean she was in my grade I’ve heard, but just slightly older, though not enough to be in the grade above so they’d know her, right? I almost forgot, I need to get ready for school tomorrow! Love,

 -Ally”

“Dear Diary,                                     Monday October 25th 2010

Today was very odd, I had a lot of fun at school, i made some new friends, which is normal for the new kid I guess. But when I asked them if they knew Alex they were looking at me like I was insane, saying “Who’s Alex?” That confused me a lot, because we have a photo from the estate manager who told us that was Alex. He seemed to know her pretty well. Could he be lying about Alex? Is she even real? Confused,

 -Ally”

 “Ha! I knew it, they don’t even remember you Alex!” He smiled over his shoulder after reading the diary, “there’s nobody to save your missing soul, because nobody knows who you are. Face it, soon she’ll stop questioning people and you’ll finally fade completely from peoples memories.”

Alex was tied to a chair, unable to move in the room which Ally referred to as eerie, If only Ally could see her! “Why are you doing this? Why to me of all people?”

“Because you’re the last living human who knows about us and the hunters, and we can’t risk you reporting us to them. So you are going to sit here and watch the last few people forget about you unless maybe our little Ally can find you in time. Although that’s unlikely because Ally is afraid to come in here, so why would she?” He started cackling before returning the Diary to it’s spot to wait for another entry from Ally’s day. “She only has until the 31st.., and then, Bye, Bye!”

“Dear Diary,                                                                   Tuesday October 26th 2010

               Today I’ve felt off all day, like I’m supposed to be doing something important, like something’s wrong. My suspicions only rose when I found powdery fingerprints on my diary. I had a reflex to blow them off and when I did the gathered in the air to form a figure, like they were sticking onto someone invisible. I saw shock in this person’s eyes before they quickly disappeared. It terrified me that something was there right in front of my face but I couldn’t see it. Like a ghost maybe? Or maybe an angel watching over me. I find this all so weird and creepy. But it’s also so cool! I wonder if they’re the ones who touched my book. Yet with this off feeling, it makes it seem like through these two signs I should be looking for someone. I should be helping, but I don’t know who I’m supposed to be helping. Today at school I asked more people if they knew who Alex was. All but one shook their head saying “no.” But the one person who remembered her was an older lady who worked in the cafeteria. She told me “Alex was a sweetheart, she was super kind to anyone she was around, it’s cruel that when she went missing last week everyone suddenly forgot about her. Like she never existed.” But if she’s missing than what happened to her? Why would everyone just suddenly forget about her? I know I’m missing something, but what am I missing? Who would ever do such a thing to kidnap the poor girl? Even more confused,

                                                           -Ally”

“Ha! See some people do remember me! They’ll figure it out and you’ll be done for!” He rocketed the book across the room so hard a few pages fell out, his face turning red in fury. “She only has so much time, I wouldn’t get your hopes up! She only has 5 days! Don’t be too sure about yourself Alex! I’ll murder you, mark my words! As soon as the night of the 31st comes, you’ll no longer be alive!”

“Dear Diary…                                   Wednesday October 27th 2010

I have become hesitant to write for today. I found this book strewn across the floor, a few pages had fallen out and the white powder was on it again. I am becoming paranoid of that room, when I went into the room I hit my knee on something that felt like wood, but there was nothing there. During my flash of pain I lost my vision, or gained a different type? For a minute, everything turned pitch black, but there was two figures that stood out powdery white, like the figure I saw yesterday. one seemed to be yelling at the other. They looked male but I don’t know if they were or not. The other, seemed to be tied to a wooden chair, they looked creepily like Alex and their eyes were stained with tears red as blood, or was that my vision? They were looking at me as if pleading for help, we stared into eachothers eyes before my vision faded back, The powder turned red as the room came back into view and suddenly they were gone. When I looked up I had a ringing in my ear like screaming. I quickly grabbed my diary and all it’s pages and fled the room. I am back in mine and I have not blown the white dust off my dairy yet. I feel like I’ll need it for something else later. My parents don’t seem to notice it, or they don’t care, I have no clue. I’d rather not ask. I went back up to the lunch lady from yesterday, she told me more of what she knew, and how she knew Alex, it turns out they knows each other better than just at school. I’m not saying anymore here though because I think somebody’s been reading this.

“She’s on to you, she’s much smarter than you thought.” Alex smiled at him. He sneered at Alex, “4 days, remember that, you have 4 days left to be alive, enjoy them.” Alex frowned looking at the floor. She winced remembering her grandmother. She was unsure if her grandmother was actually alive or not, she was labeled dead so that he wouldn’t go after her as well. “Just you watch, she’ll find me, even if nobody else can even remember me.” Alex smiled right back at him. Their eyes pierced into each other’s as if both were challenging the other. “We’ll see,” Alex said leaning back in her chair, she was confident that Ally would find her. He was confident that Ally was too naive to even get close, “We’ll see.” he repeated.

“Dear Diary                                     Thursday October 28th 2010

Today was very odd, though I may have found out something super important. It’ll help me and

I think it was a wonderful thing to find out, I will never tell anyone this thought because what I

found out is super important and I swore to her to not tell anyone about it incase they may find

out. So I will keep a safe secret which nobody will hear and it will be the best secret. I can keep

the secret very easily, don’t worry! I’m sorry I keep rambling on, I feel i’ve been going on since

lunch. Speaking of lunch I really like the lunch lady’s at the cafeteria, they’re the kindest people ever, that

lady, she really is. I’m confused about is why nobody seems to remember Alex. The lady said that she

is missing, but if she went missing where’d she go? I feel like somebody should know. Even

Alex’s so called friends don’t remember her. That must be the worst thing ever, I bet alex’s

grandma is very disappointed in those kids. I mean what jerks right? Although sometimes I wonder if there is something more to it.. That they didn’t forget but someone or something made them forget. It’s so spooky and it makes me question everything I have started asking the lady more and more questions. She says she doesn’t know the answers to most of them but I don’t think she’s telling the truth.

-Ally”

“The spell must’ve worn off on her. I wonder how much she actually remembers.” He said talking to Alex, Alex wasn’t really listening, she was in her own thoughts, “She’s a smart girl, what a creative way to tell a message. Grandma, please tell her the answers I need someone here and fast!” He looked at her worried face, “Are you finally having doubts about this incompitent girl? She’s so naive, it’s quite funny, I could keep taking her journal for an eternity and she would never figure it out.” Alex frowned, but not at him continuing to think, “Today I found out the lunch lady is Alex’s grandma. That’s the first word of every line. What if he read it like that?” She sighed and looked at him, “Give me the book.” “Why would I do that, you’ll write to her all the answers!” he yelled. Alex smiled, “I didn’t ask for the pen too stupid, now give me the book.” He looked at Alex dumbly, “Fine! Here you go.” “You couldn’t be more stupid.” Alex thought as she quickly snatched the book. She ripped out the page.

Friday October 29th, 2010

Today I am writing on a piece of notebook paper because my diary was ripped, I think I’ve finally started to figure things out but that caught me off guard. I think that Alex is in my house somewhere. I have no clue where, although something tells me it’s that room. Where I saw her before when I hurt myself. It’s scary, I think that’s why the room seems to be cold and erie, because someone is missing in my own house. Alex’s grandmother is becoming more and more helpful as I ask more detailed questions. Alex’s grandmother says that a ghost spell might have been put on Alex and her captor, which explains the white dust on my diary and the vision the other day..if I knew what a ghost spell was. She says she’ll explain it too me later when Alex is found, because we only have a few days apparently. Until the 31st she says. That’s only two days to find Alex, but we’re so close. We just need to figure out how to get her out of there, and how to disable the ghost spell. I am going to put this paper in a different spot so that hopefully they don’t find it.

         -Ally

///////////

They didn’t find it, he couldn’t read it. A day past without any word on what might happen to Alex.

///////////

“Saturday October 30th 2010

They couldn’t find the paper last time. I know this because there was no white powder on my entry paper. Alex’s grandma told me that the white powder meant the ghost touched it and if you blow the white powder back onto any ghostly being then you can see them but for only so much time depending on how much you have to see them. Which is why ghosts are better off not touching anything and why everyone thinks they’re not real, because they’d rather not be found. My question is though, if this person who took Alex doesn’t want to be found than why does he always take things from my room, or touch them at all? Maybe it could be to see if I ever catch up with him? Or he thinks I’m incompitant of finding him. The thought just occurred to me, he doesn’t think I’m smart. He thinks I’m an idiot. That’s great. You know what? I’ll show him, I’ll find Alex and we’ll both be ok! I already have a lead and I am determined to follow it until the end.

-Ally”

“That’s cute, she thinks she can find us in just a day! Tomorrow at 11pm it will be too late to save you Alex, it’ll have already happened and my next ‘poor soul’ will be this sweet little girl, Ally darling, I hope you know you’re next.” He started cackling. Looking out the window with his back to the door. What he didn’t know was that Ally was looking into the room listening to his rambling, eyes locked with Alex who had been able to break the ghost spell for meer seconds before they faded away again. “I’ll save her.” She thought, “And I’ll make sure he suffers for what he’s done.”

“Sunday October 31st.

Today’s the day. -Ally”

////////////

“That’s odd, why would she only write that? And on a lone piece of paper too. Why would she do that?” He said looking back at the paper as if something else would appear. Ally looked into the room, it was seemingly empty except for the floating piece of paper in the middle. Now’s my chance. She thought, holding her diary covered in white dust. She walked up right to the paper, hoping she was behind him, and blew the dust off her diary. It flew everywhere in the room coating everything, the lights turned off and the two people in the room seemed to be glowing white. Alex looked at Ally with hopeful eyes as she quickly hit him as quick as possible hoping to knock him out. It didn’t work, he was stunned but still definitely conscious. Ally decided to do the next best thing and ran over to Alex. Alex was struggling to get out of the chair where she was tied. Ally quickly helped her and when she had got her untied Ally went to support her as she stood up for the first time in a while and realized her body wasn’t materialized. After figuring this out Ally hesitated. “Am I too late?: she asked Alex. “No.” Alex held out her hand. “I just wasn’t ready.”

Ally didn’t like the feeling she got last time she had tried to touch Alex and backed up. Alex saw her fear, “Please! We don’t have much time, it’s getting late and he’ll send me away if you don’t help right now!”

“I- I- I-... I can’t! You’ll just disappear, you’re not real, not real. No, I’m imagining this! I’m going crazy!” Ally screamed.

“Please!” Alex yelled back, dust streaming down her face.

Ally hesitated again, ran out of the room, and slammed the door behind her, “Not real!” She screamed. Before light had encapsulated the house, it was.
