Fiction Happy Romance

It was the first time we met; it was a moment that I will never forget. It was love at first sight, it was happiness in the morning and the perfect ending to the day, now, day turned to night.

It was where I was, sitting there in my corner booth, drinking my mixed drink, reading my long-awaited book, and not noticing anything else, or so I thought.

I looked up from my book, was caught by a glance or a stare, and this other person was looking in my direction. They stopped when they noticed me looking at them, as they were looking at me, and we both looked downward, blushing.

Feeling the blood rushing in and making our cheeks light up like Rudolph's red, red nose. We looked up again, were a little less embarrassed, yet we glanced down at the floor. While we both summoned up the courage to finally meet in the middle to talk, she rose and left the cafe, without a second thought.

It was then that I sprang into action, wishing I had attempted to meet her, as I headed towards the front door, I was feeling all giddy with excitement and anticipation. I had thoughts of, "Where had she gone?" "Who was she?" "Would we ever see each other again?"

I started down the street, seeing an outdoor patio in front of the bookstore, headed that way, in hopes of finding her or being that lucky. I was in the door when I was bumped into by two people, knocking me back but not falling.

I noticed her over by the mystery books, and headed that way, tripped over a display kiosk of the new book's titles, jumped up with embarrassment, and proceeded in the same direction.

This time I was so close to her; I was able to reach out and hug her. I decided to only get close enough to this time, talk to her and hope she would respond.

When she glanced up from reading the back of the mystery book, she was holding, she smiled at me, then before I was able to respond, she was gone. This was beginning to be like a game.

I then went to the end of the aisle, going this way then that way, finally finding her ordering a coffee and then going to sit on the outdoor patio. She saw me and motioned for me to come out there.

I was extremely excited and was making my way to where she sat, then my phone rang, and I was left without a way to feel towards the interruption. I hesitantly answered the call and was spoken to about my being a best man at my friend's wedding. I agreed to help.

I was then able to proceed towards the patio, but once again she had given me the slip, and I was no longer excited. This was the second time this had happened.

I had written down the address of the wedding, and stopped by a tuxedo shop, to purchase a rental tuxedo. I then left with my package in tow, heading in the direction of the church.

I made it in record time, headed up the front steps, and went inside. I was greeted by my friend, Pete, who had called me about being a best man. He noticed I had picked up a tuxedo, then showed me where to get changed at. I went into the choir room, to change, when the door swung open and a familiar face stood in the doorway.

Who should appear, only the woman from both the cafe and the bookstore. She walked in, towards me, and sat down in several chairs were placed. She looked at me, noticed I was preparing to get dressed, and excused herself. Before she left out the door, she turned to me and said, "I shall return for you, when you are more presentable".

I mumbled a, "ok", then started to dress in the tuxedo. I was trying to fix the bowtie, and straighten it, when she returned and heading towards the chair, she brushed against my arm, ever so slightly.

She was smiling, blushing, then standing up, walked over to me, leaning in and kissed me on the lips, for what seemed like forever.

I then smiled back, as she was moving away, reached out, took her in my arms and pulled her in to kiss her again. She did not pull away, but instead came closer to me, and did not resist me.

It was like we had known each other forever and we were raptured by that moment. We both were breathing extremely hard, like we had run a marathon, blushing and not sure what we wanted to happen next. We seemed to know without any words, we kissed more and then sat down together.

My friend, arriving at the choir room door, opened it slowly, and announced, "So dude, are you ready to be my best man, or what?"

I stared at Pete, and replied, "Of course I am".

Then before either of us spoke, we exchanged our names, mine being Ricky and hers being Sylvia. We were leaning in to kiss again. Pete came between us, and smiled sheepishly, said, "There will time for this later. Let's get me married and let the honeymoon begin"

Pete, Sylvia, and I all headed out to the church sanctuary, Sylvia, showing me where she was placed, then Pete and I heading down to the front, Pete standing next to Dawn, and I standing next to him along with the other two best men.

The ceremony lasted a while yet was finished before I realized. I had been unsure when I passed the rings to Pete, then Pete placed Dawn's ring in her finger and Dawn placed Pete's in his finger. I was asked to invite Sylvia to dance.

I headed back up the aisle, arrived at the place where Sylvia sat, and before I could ask her to dance, she stood up and started to dance with me, slowly.

We embraced, slow dancing and made our way to the area used for the after-wedding celebrations. The dinner was spectacular, and the many guests were a lively group. It was festive and a happy joyous event.

I and Sylvia were entering the area, set up for dancing, when as we started to slow dance once more, someone tapped my shoulder. It was brother, Paul, and he reached out to hug both I and Sylvia. He had been transferred to this area with his unit only that day.

I told him we would talk later, with that Sylvia and I continued to dance, so much so, that all the guests had all but left and there was just the two of us, alone.

My thoughts, racing, had me excited at the idea, that even when you least expect it, love will seek out and find you, no matter where it may show up at.

This was meant to be and love made it all come true.
