Sometimes.
In the best of circumstances. Or. In the worst of circumstances.
Light shines.
Until it doesn’t.
Until it will.
Again.
Until then….Who knows.
There exist. Many strong word of description.
The strongest—won the prize?
Hurray. Yeah-Me. But of what?
Exactly.
The me over you? The you over me?
The bandwagon is highest for the one who have not yet decided on the yet, that is now. Or was. Or whatever.
Yet.
We pretend. With the greatest of our gestures and gesticulations, inflections and sonatas, to show the world,
We got this.
We got you.
All you need to do is come to my show for me to show you I know. For me to show you I can cut a rug, bust a move and sing a soliloquy. Of. Love. Of hate and all things moving. To prove to you. I care about your world and your protection.
Huh?
What may follow is what happens when the status takes over the smooth melodic beats of life in our heads.
We. Need to be our very best self. Not only when the chips are up, or the chips are down.
We need to step up. To the moments that test our ability to grow. The temptations can be many or the temptations can be few. Either way, we search for a vision of a life well lived in the presence of our presence.
No! No! No! Prima Donna’s step aside. Superstars, too. What we are talking about is a person. A small person. A large person who, one day, decides to set their sights and attention on,
you.
The younger of us, yet, do not know what they do.
However.
You. Do.
Insomuch as time and space permits you to be all the you that you can be. In some circumstances and situations, you go,
“ham.” Or Hmmmmmm….. How did I get to this place where I am now?
Super human strength and abilities keep the common folk with wide mouths open, agape and eyes wide open to the you that is you.
Talk about pressure.
Heroes, Soldiers, Super human ball handlers are on another plane of life. We, as the participants, as we watch their feats of strengths can only wonder in awe and wow, how they do what they do.
At times. We feel outnumbered. At times, we watch in awe. At times, we wonder how they do that. At times, we lift ourselves up to the constant state of pressure of wanting to be like them.
You know, like, superhuman.
Wow. Man.
We aspire to their idolatry because we oftentimes see, in ourselves, something that is missing, in the piece of our wanna be-ness and of our own brokenness.
So.
We lie.
We hedge.
We pretend.
We scoff.
All in an effort to prove we are right and attempting to prove another wrong in attempt to gain the upper hand.
What happens?
Fool rush in.
With a vengence.
Then,
What happens?
Damage control.
We pretend ugly does not exist. We wish to be superhuman. In our perfect world anyway. We thought “this” would happen when we did “this.” When something other and otherworldly stepped in to say,
“You were wrong.” You were wrong about this, that and the other thing.” Head scratching, we walk away in a heated minute, mind and mindset of what just happened.
We think, “Hey, I have control of my faculties, situations and motivations.
Until, we do not.
Good news.
When He steps in. We do not have to worry about our next step. We must plan accordingly to His plan and our motivations for our next step. Knowingly knowing, He is in charge.
Man plans.God laughs.
We are tucked tightly into our security blankets of security until and when the moment renders us vulnerable.
Then.
The bets are off.
Blankets, too
Fools rush in. And suddenly we are among the group of them—
The fools.
What just happened we wonder as we look left and then right. How did we get from there to here? Was I a willing participant or a coerced involved person in the mess that was to be? To come.
Desperate times call for desperate measures.
Some hits us upside the head, trips our ankles when we walk innocently, turn our heads vigorously from let to right in the interest of hearing what just happened to our perfect little world. Well, the one that existed inside our own heads anyway.
Man plans. God laughs.
We do, too, at our innate inability to stay on schedule when the chips are down and the clock keeps moving forward with the hands directing its movement and motions. We wish, although deep down know we are kidding ourselves, into knowing that the reality of today may mimic the reality of tomorrow. We take a deep breath in the hopes of tomorrow being better than today and the leaders in our neck of the woods have a consciousness that test the boundaries of what others need.
In the best interest is due diligence, understanding, responsibility. The wonder and kicker is, is there a genuine rock of strength among all the mess and insanity?
In the best interest of putting our hope and future into the hands of another who can handle it, and is willing to take the abominable skill and tenacity of self to know when and how to make it better.
Even if and when the souls whispers, “I am not sure.” The gut steps in and says, “I got this.” In time you will come to know what I know and it will all feel familiar, good and consequential.
Until then. When you see a fork in the road,
Take it.
Do not always serve the idea that it is better to be nice than to be kind, or oops it is better to be kind than it is to be nice.
The good news. Anyway you choose to look at it, the other you step up for may be, momentarily taken aback. In the interest of the whole rather than the few, it pays to know how to read the person in the room.
You may just find you have been right all along.
