Too much of a good thing.

Crime Friendship Teens & Young Adult

When to say when.

Certain “things” put into the wrong hands, is bad. For everyone. Eventually. One way or another. In the long run. In the short run.

One man’s leisurely stroll in the sun, is another man’s daily trek to find shade from the burning rays of no shelter. No umbrella. No cover. No coverage. Perhaps it was already given to another for reasons that were destined to become too late and not “enough”..for the rest. Trekking into the sunset with the pittance on their own after trekking daily to get from here to there in the endless sun-filled days.

Another day at the beach.

Sometimes barely noticing. As we pass one another on the streets. Some looked away from because it is “too much to” handle, “too much”to look at “too much” to bear witness to and of.

Madness.

We are all guilty. But we are all not helpless. At times, at fault for our own lack of self- control. But a voice deep inside repeatedly whispers to us for courage to change. “The courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.” Good words to live by. Please remember.

Too much faith can also be detrimental.

It’s a balance. It’s a process.

Some “get it” more than others. This can be good and bad. Usually, but not always, the measure of a man is best examined when the “chips” are down. When we show true “colors”. No longer “hide” our imperfections. Can or cannot handle them, deal with them. My advice: Grab them firmly by the hand and bring them along. Keep them in check. Be kind to them and self. Move along.

There is mucho work to be done.

In the grand scheme of a life, there is no such thing as endless. We all leave this world the same way we enter—bald and with no teeth. A never ending story. Yes. All things have a beginning. A middle. An end.

A wise kid once told me “Check yourself, before you wreck yourself.” Love this! Thank you for sharing. Will do. Daily.

Rational v Irrational. Reality? A problem or a condition. A crack with enough space to be utilized and used as a gulf to “pass” through.

One man’s trash can indeed be and be used as another man’s treasure. Living on the edge. Dangerous. Reckless. Living just to get “by”.

Too many questions? I agree. “Too much” to think about.

Sometimes we don’t see it when we are “in it”. When we are stepping right in it. TMI=Too much information. “Too much” hot. “Too much” cold. “Too much” talk. “Too much” bold. A walk toward and into the sunset. “Too much”. Too soon.

“Too much”…..Action?

When to say when?

When does enough become enough?

Madness.

“Can one desire too much of a good thing? William Shakespeare

One of our early prolific writers. Often regarded as the greatest writer in English, posed this question. Before the information superhighway was under construction and regularly travelled. Difficult to see which lane Shakespeare chose? Open to interpretation, Open to “too much” debate. Too many choices.

The goal post was not constantly being moved. Back. Then.

His works, to this day re-interpreted. He must have been on to something. Thank you for sharing Mr. Shakespeare.

Another great “sharer” of information (allow me the space to cheekily use a social media term here) said:

”Too many cooks spoil the broth.” Jane Austen

Yes. Indeed. As true today as hundreds of years ago,

Austen, it has been written, was a writer to have written with “biting irony’, along with realism and social commentary. Hmm. After her death, her work lived on and novels were subsequently republished in Richard Bentley’s standard series. Later gradually gaining wider acclaim and popular readership. Illustrator Ferdinand Pickering assisted Bentley in bringing image to the original stories. Sold as a set.(wk)

How cool is that?

There is something to be said for experience. Wouldn’t you agree? Clarity, age and wisdom. What is the hurry anyway?

Well. Sometimes we don’t know what we don’t know. Did you know? Hundreds of years ago the life span of an individual was far less that it is today. With as many distractions? Not sure. Debatable.

With everything at our finger tips today, it is a wonder we are not just flipping each other off. Out of boredom. Simply. Too much of a good thing. Too much aimless and endless playtime and walking around.

Nowadays, all play and no work makes Jack a dull boy. The Sun Also Rises. American writer Ernest Hemingway wrote about his reality in work published in 1926. His work, based on real people (Reality TV just a blip on a radar at this time) Written after World War I Hemingway investigated the themes of love and death. Written through his own eyes. Subsequently appreciated by many seeking literacy. Understanding.

No images and likenesses other than his own. He expressed them generously and he was exceptional at ownership. Even more exceptional at expression. Before it became a “thing”.

The stories of yesteryear were authentic. Blood, sweat and tears poured into a journal later shared. Authentic journalistic excellence. The fact it was post-humously for some is simply a testament. To their greatness and intelligence. Street smarts. Their shared wisdom. Thank you Ms. Austen. Thank you Mr. Hemingway.

There is work to be done. And. We are working on it.

Unfortunately. Times are a’ changing.

Nowadays. IT IS OVER BEFORE IT IS OVER. Or so many think. Because of a little button. Called-DELETE. Poof! All gone! It’s gone! We are done! Never existed! Except we are not done. And it does exist. Reality. Does exist. Does not fade as easily as one may hope.

Memories.

Like the corners of my mind.

There is mucho work to be done.

Nowadays. Who will step up to be the one who will care with the care “like” folks did back then? For goodness sake, they did not live like they were dying and made the most of the life they lived.

And shared.

The good.

The bad.

The ugly.

Images. From their perception and perspective without a hint of persuasion. It was what it was.

As they saw it.

Handwritten. Bound. Shared.

All without a flip phone.

How cool is that!
