Two Shells

(This is a short story, I hope you enjoy it!)

I was on vacation in Hawaii. Waiting for the wide yellow-orange warm sun to set. As I sat there so peacefully, happily that summer had just begun. And school had just ended.

My friends were waiting inside the beach house we had rented together. I was out on the beach, sitting in the sand with a smile on my face and the sun reflecting the water. 

Staring at the white and purple shells.

I waited for about 30 minutes and the sun was fully gone. 

Now there were just the stars in the sky and a full moon glowing. 

I took a deep breath and closed my eyes and made a wish.

“I wish to meet someone special that can change my life forever..” I whispered. 

I walked back to the beach house and I heard footsteps of someone else walking in the sand.

Until I bumped into someone. 

“Ow! Watch where you're going!” I yelled at him not facing forward to him. 

“My bad,” he said. 

As I turned around now facing him I saw his tan face with green emerald eyes and curly black hair. 

I blushed and tried to cover my smile. 

“No, no it was my fault I wasn't looking where I was heading to” I explained to him.

“You're fine, do you want me to walk you back to wherever you're going?” he asked me. 

“Sure,” I replied.  

As he was walking back I felt safe like I was in good hands. 

“So, what’s your name?” he questioned me.

“Brook,” I told him.

“My name’s Cole,” he said.

When we were walking I jammed near him multiple times and touched his warm skin.

I got butterflies in my stomach.

“Well here we are,” he said as he smiled. 

“Yeah, bye goodnight!”

“Goodnight” he told me as he walked back down to the beach.

“Hey Girly, where were you!” an exciting squeal behind me said.

It was my best friend Jenna, we were friends since Kindergarten.

“Oh, nothing” I chuckled. 

“Then who was that pretty boy that was walking you home?” she questioned. 

“Oh he just walked me home” I replied.

Then I hurried to the fancy bathroom and took a bath.

As I ducked my head down the water, closing my eyes thinking about that majestic feeling at the beach with him..

After I was finished I wore my pink fluffy robe and my hair wet. 

“Hey, I was going to order some pizza, do you want anything?” Haily asked  me.

“No thanks” 

Haily was my neighbor and we were friends ever since she moved into town. 

Me, Jenna and Haily are all the same. We are all 17. 

The next day I was thinking about going surfing.

“I’ll come with you Brook!” Jenna said.

“Okay!” 

I got into my black bathing suit and grabbed my surfboard and headed out the door. 

The waves were crashing into the big rocks as the seagulls were in groups hawking. 

I ran into the sand.

Until I saw Cole.

He was in white swimming trunks and his hair was wet.

It looked like he had just finished swimming.

He looked me in the eyes and said “Oh hey Morning!”  

“Morning” 

As I turned around looking at Jenna.

Her face was hot as a red pepper and blushing multiple times.

I wanted to ask her “What Happened?” 

But I would assume that she would yell at me and she’ll start laughing.

And I also had a feeling that she liked Cole.

Which wasn't great. 

“Are you guys going surfing?” Cole asked us both.

“Yes”

“Oh well I can join!” He smiled at me.

I explained to him “No, you don’t have to if you don’t want to!” 

“No, I'll come!” He joyfully said. 

All three of us got into the water and we waited for the big waves to come.

The water was crystal clear and you could have felt the warmth of the sun on your skin. 

In the corner of my eye I can see Cloe glancing at me.

“Whoo!! Big Waves are headed towards us guys!!!” Jenna screamed. 

We all surfed at once, it was amazing.

All three of us spent an hour and a half surfing until we all got super tired.

Then I noticed that Jenna and Cole got along really well.

I wasn't that jealous but I just didn’t understand that everyone that she met she got along with so easily.

“I’m gonna talk with Cole some more and meet you in the beach house!” Jenna told Brook.

“Okay” I replied.

Then I went back to the beach house.

And for some reason I was upset, like this voice inside of me that wants to scream out loud.

Later in the evening Haily and I went out to an ice cream parlor nearby.

“Come on don’t you also want to go to the Boutique?” Haily asked me.

“No thanks, I'll wait outside!!” I replied. 

As I was waiting right near the Boutique holding my strawberry ice cream in my hands I saw him once again.

He came up to me and said “Hey, how are you?”

“Good.”

Then he began to say “You looked really mad earlier, was it because of me?” 

I trembled and said “No!” 

In my mind I really wanted to push him away.

I knew if I talked to him more, the more I would fall for him. 

“Uh- do you wanna go somewhere?” he asked me.

“Well, I’m with my friend so maybe when we're done?” I smiled.

“Sure,” he said.  

As I was waiting for Haily to come out of the store I had this feeling inside of me.

Like this boost of energy of excitement. 

“Hey! I’m Finally done!” 

“Oh Hey! I’m going to hang out with someone now, okay?” I said to her,

“Alright See you later and be safe!”

I got into something more casual and comfortable for me. 

They headed straight out the door. 

“Oh Hello There” he said with a warm smile on his face.

It made me blush. 

“Hey” 

As we were both walking out on the beach he told me, “Do you wanna go somewhere?” 

‘Sure, ' I responded softly. 

He was carrying me to this small vintage cafe that was decorated with flowers all around it.

“Wow” I gasped.

It was so breathtaking and so pretty.

“Glad you like it,” he said.

Until he held my hands.

“I got knots in my stomach trying not to blush.

His hands were warm and soft and were bigger than mine.   

“Haha” I laughed.

I did also want to let go of his hands too.

But he held them too tight. 

“So what would you like?” he turned to me and asked.

‘Hmm, I would like a small cup of coffee and a strawberry glazed doughnut!” I smiled and asked.

“Okay Alright take a seat”

He pulled out a pink chair for me and I sat down as he was ordering my food. 

Later we finished from the cafe and walked down to the beach.

We got to know each other more and it was really nice. 

Turns out we have so much in common and we live in the same town. 

“I have to tell you something,” he told me.  

I nodded and said “Go on..” 

“I really really like you Brook”

Then I was in complete shock. 

“Really?!” I said.

“Yeah I do” 

Until he pulled me in closer and kissed me.

That night was amazing, and we have dated each other since that day.

And I knew that he changed my life forever.

“And that’s how I met your father”

“Wow Mommy, that's amazing!” my daughter said. 

“Yeah, now let’s go visit your father at work!”

“Okay” she said.
