Love that never was

The day dawned bright and warm ; it had to; it was the 10th of June. The roads were bustling with vehicles and people. Some of them were the CEO's of the leading companies, surprisingly all of them were headed to the same place-"The biggest midsession business meet" organised by none other than the most successful business tycoon of the era-'Rohan Mehra .'It was almost the time for the meeting to commence, all the invited members arrived except for his own business partner, his true support and confidant-'Riya Mehra', his sister. He could not postpone the meet, reluctantly he had to commence it. He started with his welcome speech , every single word touched every heart , the Media was meticulously covering every single bit of it and aired it live too. The entire nation watched it over the varied news channels and drew inspiration from him. No one wanted to miss it because of his wonderful communicating skills or his intelligence or the way he shared his life lessons or bring back people on the correct path by just a few words of wisdom (there were just so many commendable traits in him that the list goes on and on ) , well, everyone had different reasons why they liked him but as a matter of fact everyone did even his rivals would become his fans after listening to him speak.

It was all going great until he started to blabber gibberish, act like a baby, and throw coffee at others. Everyone stood dumbfounded, their mouths wide open confused seeing something unbecoming of the man they respected the most. The media recorded it without fail. He was famous everywhere. He suffered from Bipolar disorder; he hid this along with his sister for the past 25 years of his working career. His condition was seemingly getting better; the dose of the medicine was also reduced and if he ever acted in a quirky manner his sister always managed it well and never let anyone harbour doubts about it.

Post that things went downhill for him. Everyone made memes to tease him , no one was interested in signing deals with his company and he was devastated. His sister was trying her level best to get things back to normal, but no one was interested in negotiating with a mentally unstable person at the helm. Soon, there were personal videos covered from his bungalow circulating publicly. He was mumbling all nonsense, trying to chew his pillow and so much more.  Not only did the media circulate those videos but also created their own back stories to it that made things go even worse. The way public spammed his social media accounts was extremely disheartening for him. His life had completely changed . But something that intrigued Riya was that even after so much security how did the videos leak, her prime  suspects were all the domestic helpers and security they had hired. She fired them all but that was of no help , many more humiliating and embarrassing videos were all over the web . They stopped going out of their bungalow and even if Riya mustered up courage to go, she was teased and taunted very badly.   

Each day was the exact replica of the day before. Soon, days rolled into weeks and weeks into months following the same pattern until the 20^th of September  when Riya walked into Rohan’s room and with a serene voice said,” I am going to tell you something that is extremely miserable for me.” Rohan looked at her with intriguing eyes and asked her to continue. She said, ”A couple of months back the doctor told me that you won’t be able to survive for more than a few more months, the drug you used to take to stabilize yourself reacted, saying this she saw the notification that flashed on Rohan’s phone. Is that from ‘The Global Times?’ why does it ask you to send to share video and which videos?” she asked looking sternly at him. Rohan could not control himself any further and burst out into gales of laughter. Riya was nonplussed at this unexpected outburst of his. Rohan saw that baffled look on Riya’s face and quizzed her , ”Why does that make you sad? You should be happy, aren’t you? I enacted well, didn’t I?” Riya murmured the word “enact” astonishingly. Rohan with a smirky face stated that he had overheard her the night before the meet while she was expressing her happiness to her fiancé saying that Rohan’s days are numbered and finally your  time had come to be the empress of the empire and you  wouldn’t have to pretend being the sidekick and could become the protagonist.

 Heartbroken, sense of betrayal was so overwhelming for Rohan that he wanted revenge. Thoughts crossed his mind that Riya could legally become the owner of the empire he created right from scratch, the greed drove her through the lanes of hatred, deceit etc. Riya quickly added,” what are you talking about? I am sure there has been some misunderstanding .Please give me a chance to explain it, it’s not how it seems.”  Rohan gave her a fair chance to explain after all, he did not want to take to his grave that Riya could have been innocent after all.  But Riya had nothing to say that gave a glimpse of her innocence. The truth was that  she could not wait until he died, Rohan unfortunately could not halt his death, it was not in his hands but could make sure that everything he had with his hard work did not go to  corrupt hands. It was all a part of his plan; he acted , he himself sent videos to the news reporters to blacken his reputation and made his company go into debts and losses The person whom he loved the most never loved him. Rohan never truly stopped being a leader, he was just busy bringing Riya back on the correct path , he even during his last days continued to impart wisdom in his own way  and he didn’t care if we had to blacken his image or get disgrace.

While Riya cried and was drowning in her own pool of deceit and despair, but the damage was done beyond repair. Rohan died a few days later and that day the media said that Rohan Mehra died but the truth deep down was that there were two deaths, Rohan’s trust, and Riya’s soul.
