“ I want to go home. Please.”
I stated for the umpteenth time. The gray alien thing looked at me and blinked. It cocked its ugly, egg-shaped dome of a head and chattered something unintelligible to me.
“Please, let me go. I want to go home.” I was on a metal table like the mortician in town uses. There were several sharp-pointy instruments scattered within my line of sight. I was naked and shivering from fear, or the coldness of the room. It was hard to tell. My brain was having a real hard time trying to process the whole alien-abduction scenario.
I didn’t believe in extraterrestrial life, other than possible microbial cells clinging to an asteroid. The sheer terror I felt at this moment had completely shut my thinking processes off. I was alone and in trouble, and there wasn’t anyone coming to my rescue.
My day had started routinely. I had gotten up showered, dressed, breakfasted, and made my way to work. I put in my eight hours, punched out and hit the road. I was ready for the weekend and had told everyone I knew that I was headed to my cabin for the weekend and would not be back until Monday.
My jeep was packed the night before. I had told my neighbors my plans and asked them to keep an eye on my place and grab my mail.
The cabin was set back in the woods, and I owned all three thousand acres surrounding the cabin. It had been handed down to me upon the death of my last living relative. An uncle who had lived off the grid and had been discovered by a hunter, ten years ago. He had made the cabin his home for sixty years and allowed a few people to hunt on his land as long as they let him know they would be on his land.
The hunter had called the authorities when he had found my uncle sitting on his porch, ‘deader an a door-nail’. According to the official report.
The sheriff’s department investigated and found no signs of foul play and searched the cabin for any documents that could lead them to a family member. That is how I became the owner of this cabin in the woods.
It could not have happened at a better time. My wife had just left me for some jock she met at the gym and I really needed a place to go to decompress afterwards. It felt good being isolated with no cell phone service for a weekend. It was such a relaxing weekend, that I started to make it a monthly retreat.
Nope, no one would come looking for me. I had never invited anyone else to the cabin, so no one would know where to look when I didn’t show up on Monday.
I remember driving up the mountain and turning off on the driveway that would lead to the cabin. I vaguely remembered a bright light and then nothing.
I looked around me as I shivered and tears ran down my face. I was in the cabin. The being had me strapped down on this table and was staring down at me. I struggled and tried to recount how I had ended up in such dire straits. But the terror would not unlock my cerebellum. I was entirely muffled from thought and paralyzed by my belief that this was a dream (nightmare) that would end soon and I would wake feeling foolish.
The gray skinned creature cocked its ugly head and more noise emitted from where I assumed it’s mouth should be. It selected a long, silver needle and held it over my head. I could not move my head. I screamed and tried to shut my eyes to no avail. My eyes were being held open. I screamed as the needle pierced my eye and I could no longer see the needle.
My head felt strange as I opened my eyes and looked around. I could move my head and my eyes were no longer held open. I could see out of both eyes. I must’ve imagined the whole episode. I did watch a lot of alien abduction movies. Maybe I had fallen asleep and my mind took me to the worst case scenario from one of the hundreds of scary movies I have watched in the past.
The gray man-thing made a noise and picked up something that looked like a giant corkscrew. I watched in horror as once again it held an object over me. This time the alien, pushed the apparatus into my abdomen and twisted the tool as it went deeper into my stomach. Screeching at the searing pain, my mind took be to blissful darkness once again.
My body felt warm as I awoke and I looked down my body to see that I had been cut open and my skin had been pinned open and the alien was pulling my intestines out and putting them back in place. I passed out again.
The sound of dripping liquid invaded my consciousness and I allowed myself a peek with one eye. I didn’t know if I could survive anymore torture. The monster was staring at me and held a tube and from the tube, liquid was pouring over my body. It was warm and I felt no pain from the various things that it had done to my body. The various implements that had hung over me were gone. The liquid stopped and the tube retracted from the room. I was able to move and I struggled to sit up.
Rushing to my side the creature grabbed my arm and helped me up. It led me to a chair and helped me sit. The metal table folded up and the alien picked it up. I tried to move and found that I again was frozen in place. I felt tears rolling off of my nose. The thing came at me and picked me up and carried me to its craft. I screamed as I realized that I was not going to be released.
Sitting up, I looked out the small window. The earth was retreating from view. The gray monster looked in on me.
I cried out, “ I want to go home. Please!”
