Sherri was an adorable six-year-old girl with curly blonde hair and rosey cheeks who loved to hold books in her hand and was always smiling and laughing. Her mother enjoyed reading stories to her but she seemed to like more of the stories she made up herself. If her teacher told her she was talking out of turn Sharri would tell her mother a story about a girl who talked too much. One day her mother read a story to her about a princess who was looking for a friend. Sherri thought about that story but was sleepy so she was sleeping before her mother could finish reading,

When she awoke the next morning she asked her mom what a dream was. Her mother explained to her that sometimes when you are sleeping flashes of things you thought about or had while you were awake are apparent.

"That must have happened because I thought about the princess when I was sleeping." She then told her mom about her princess dream. Her dream was that a beautiful princess she met invited her to her castle. The castle had large golden doors and the princess pushed those large portals to open. Once inside the princess introduced herself to Sharri and telling her that her name was Princess Patty. She spent the day showing Sharri how royal people live, their manners, and their way of dress. Princess Patty introduced Sherri to one friend named Prince Harold. He told her about his life as a royal prince. She promised to invite Sherri back to the golden doors and closed those hugh portals until Sherri's next visit.

Once Sherri was wide awake she retold her story to her friends who wanted to believe that those portals she dreamed about will be opened to a world that existed but was new to them.

When Sherri was in high school she was learning about the different planets and what a voyage to outer space would be like.

She was obsessed with the subject and talked a lot about it. She asked her teachers many questions about outer space and told her friends she wanted to be an astronaut.

For a long time now she has not had any dreams. Then one night after watching two space movies Hidden Figures and Lost in Space she fell asleep. Once again she had a dream. This time she was lost in an alien universe. She seem to float around and saw a man who looked different from the men she knew. She approached him in an especially unique doorway and asked him if he was from Planet Mars. He introduced himself as a prominent chief from Mars who was happy to show a non-alien woman what life can be expected in an alien universe. To help her return to her regular life he helped her transport from outer space to her home base in the United States,

Awaking the next morning she was totally confused. She had believed she visited a friendly alien who helped her when she was lost in space. When she became further awake she realized that she was in her bed in New York. In her dreams, Sherri was the finder of a spectacular portal.

When Sherri was still in high school she was interviewed for a chance to be the star performer in a school play called Hello Dolly.

She aced her interview and got the role of Dolly. She now became interested in acting.

A year later Sherri entered college and hoped to study everything she could about acting, musicians, producers, directors. She knew she wanted to be involved in learning about all aspects of show business. Once again Sherri was on her way to go behind the scenes and open all portals that would lead her to the art of the business. Coming home tired of all the meetings she had with different professionals she fell into a deep sleep on her couch. That is when she started dreaming again. She dreamed she was directing a very serious movie with famous actors who were feeling differently than Sherri in her directions, Sherri gathered the actors together and they gave some good ideas about the direction she was going for. Eventually, the story and film came together and

the film won several Oscars for scriptwriting and direction'

Sherri woke the next morning and it took her some time to realize that she had slept and dreamed about her successes. Her dream had led her to a large portal which she was able to enter and fulfill her dreams.

Several years later Sherri was invited to a reading group that gathered to talk about a possible new movie. Sherri dressed very casually as she entered the room and took a seat next to a very good-looking young man who turned out to be the writer of the story they were about to read. He turned to Sherri and introduced himself as Matt. Sherri told him her name and they started a short conversation regarding some of their interests. When all those invited were in their seats the reading began. The story took place during the Civil War and it was quite interesting. It was the first time she discussed ideas that were so relevant to the story told.

Before the group disbanded they decided on a date for another reading and discussion. It was dinner time so Matt ask Sherri if she would go to dinner with him. "Of course" she answered "I am starving and it was worth my hunger pains because all comments and suggested changes in the story felt so real."

The two of them went to dinner and made a rule not to talk about the story but about the lives of each other. They talked on and on that night and made a date for another time. They called each other often and became very good friends. Matt had learned of Sherri's dreams and was amazed at the dream she had. She dreamed of a family separated by the Civil War and the difficulties they had when their loved ones was fighting. Just the time it took for any family of that time to hear about their lives at war was enough for anyone to be worried.

This time her dream took her into another portal where she saw the life people lived and was threatened every day.

Sherri's friendship with Matt turned into true love. Their life was full without finding portals. They married and had a son and a daughter like Sherri who enjoyed making up different stories.

Sherri often thinks of the dreams she had which allowed her into different worlds and appreciated all that she learned.

In present-day life where there is so much pain and misery, it was a real positive to read a story brimming with positive events. There were plenty of places where Sheila could have turned this story to much darker events and places but she chose not to and I want to congratulate her for that decision. Liam Murphy
