“‘Aria Rachel Trachish, our valedictorian! Will you please come up!’ My principle, Mr. O’Sullivan was smiling from ear to ear as I stood up my black gown seeming heavier than it should. I was ready there was nothing that could stop me.

The next thing I new I was handed my diploma and stood at the podium. I started to break out into a nervous sweat. I took a breath and smiled as bright as I could with the confidence of the lovely young woman I was.

‘Hello and good afternoon! My name is Aria Trachish and I am the class of 2055’s valedictorian for our school. I have worked so hard to get to this point and I am proud of it. We have all accomplished so much in all these years I can’t express how grateful I am to be part of such a wonderful community but there is something I need to tell you,’ this was it there was no turning back. I was about to not just shout an open threat to an extremely large group of people, but I was about to show a true act of rebellion. ‘As you all know the planet is overpopulated and is constantly suffering from climate change and a pole shift. But what you have been told was a lie. The leaders of our countries promised a way to deal with these pressing issues. You all were told that over half the world’s population would be sent to Arizarah, the planet that is habitable for humans, and we would all be safe. But this is a complete and downright dirty lie. They are not bringing you to a safe place, no, they are going to place you and your families on spacecraft as they promised, you will launch and once you reach Saturn the craft will explode slaughtering the forty-five billion people onboard. The rest of the world will live here on the dying planet until we all perish due to the toxic waste ‘accidentally’ released into our water sources. So I am telling you to act now. Slaughter our leaders, kill your bosses and advisors until only the middle class remain. There will be not other survivors.’ I look around everyone is shocked. I let out an unearthly scream and reveal my true self: an Sharliski alien spy from the planet to be dominated by the grubby humans.

I continued to slaughter the rest of the human race until only the fortunate teenage survivors remained. I knew they would come back for me but i was immortal and nothing could stop me.”

“This is why my peers we must not let this planet go to waste. This is why I stand at our graduation warning us to stay mindful and aware of what is happening or we could have a similar fate to those in this book.” I hold up my copy of THE WARNING to emphasize my statement. “I honestly hope that the graduation of 2055 is nothing like how it is illustrated here. I hope all are like the one we have here for the class of 2025. Thank you for listening to your valedictorian, me, Rachel Mia Trachish. Have I great evening!” I walk back to my seat with nothing but an otherworldly glint in my eye.
