Como Una Pelicula (Like a Movie)

Written in response to: "He looked between us once more and said, “It’s either her or me…”"

Contemporary Fiction Romance

“I’m walking on sunshine, yeah, yeah It’s got to feel good oh yeah, oh yeah” as Jon sings with butterflies in his stomach swerving around the heavy traffic on the upper west side of the big apple as the sun tingles on the back of his neck, sweat glistening down. The honking of car horns join in as Jon continues to sing continuing to bob and weave on the blue and gray Citibike as he’s about to make a right till the red light stops him in front of Gray’s Papaya, Jon’ s hands get a bit sweaty as he contemplates gazing to his right and decides to join with the pedestrians walking across as he decides to make a left down to Riverside Park passing Broadway as his heart begins to skip a beat as he pedals more as he heads into the tunnel passage down to the Henry Hudson Greenway as he heads downhill making a right and gets cut off from a runner as his bike skids to the right. “You asshole it’s not just for you obnoxious bike riders it’s for us runners too,” Jon takes a look and notices he’s ab older runner with a beat up Nike Brooklyn half cap as his gray hair trinkling out to the sides of his cap with his faded running shorts and colorful Brooklyn Half font black running jersey. Jon waves his hand, “Dude, sorry but you weren’t paying attention since you had your headphones on you do know that bikes are coming on your left, and okay maybe I was going a little fast but still. The older runner shouts at Jon, “Whatever I’m an older man and my reflexes isn’t as fast, so you need to do better fuck you,” flipping the bird running away. Jon just waves him off and smiles as he dusts himself off. Jon takes off his shades as the sun begins to calm things down. Jon smiles looking down at the pier as a group of people start doing the 1’s and 2’s to the beat of strings, brass, and percussion the triple threat music of salsa. Jon gets back on his bike as he starts to pedal down towards the pier as the aroma of grilled burgers medium rare he thought with the smell of sweet potato fries as he passes by the Pier I eatery adorned with the green umbrellas and green chairs packed with smiling people just eating and drinking on a nice warm summer evening. Jon takes off his helmet and locks his bike past the Pier I walkway as his left foot moves forward, meeting in the middle with his right going forward to the middle and back in sync with the salsa music on the pier leading out to the Hudson River. Jon smiles as he watches the dancers trying to keep up with the two instructors in the front. Jon’s legs almost buckle as his heart drops as the sun beams off the top of the blondish red hair woman gliding her body as a snake. Jon slowly moves in and takes a hold of her left hand as she twirls around. “Jon, what the hell are you doing here, you’ve got some nerve.” “Alejandra por favor please hear me out, I can’t stop this gnawing pain in me,” as Jon pulls Alejandra into him as they move their feet back and forth side to side twirling her under his arms bringing her close to him, as they lock eyes. Jon’s mesmerized by Alejandra’s hazel eyes as Alejandra tries to push away but hesitates as she locks into his brown eyes. “Wow, you’ve really picked up on it” Jon smiles, “Yes you’ve made me feel things I’ve never felt before and yes reawakened my Spanish roots which includes salsa, I’m hooked, you’ve got my heart Alejandra querida,” as Jon does a heart sign. Alejandra’s tears up as she breaks free after Jon twirls her to the beat of the brass and timbales. “You hurt me Jon, I thought we had something and for you to just throw it away.” Jon tries to grab Alejandra’s hand but to no avail and just glides along with her side by side as the instructor encourages them as the other dancers cheer them on as a circle begins to form around them as Marc Anthony’s “Te Conozco Bien” begins to play. Jon and Alejandra stop for a second smiling at each other, up as they both grab each other’s hands gliding, moving right, left, side to side and twirling under each other’s arms. “Alejandra, I’m sorry you’re right I was going to throw it away because of the manipulation of my ex who had a hold but I know better cause you opened up my eyes and heart to a love I never thought was true till I met you.” Alejandra gnaws her nails into Jon’s hands as Jon grimaces. “So, you broke the spell from your ex about time I love you and yes it hurt to see her blinding you since she used you and the big heart you have, you deserve more and I still love you,” as Alejandra lifts her left foot and purposely stomps on his right foot. Jon winces, “I deserve that I do, I do, and I’m sorry it took me a while to open up my eyes.” “Look at these two showing how it’s done showing us the sexy passion and energy of salsa music, que viva la musica,” the instructor shouts. Alejandra and Jon stop as they take a bow as the other dancers clap praising them. Alejandra smiles at Jon as she motions her come hither motion with to him. “Jon’s body temperature rises as he comes close. Alejandra looks up at Jon touching his right smooth clean-shaven face,” How can I not give you a chance you’re a guy you’re supposed to make stupid mistakes,” Jon smiles “Wow are you quoting Jim Carrey’s line from “Once Bitten” oh my god.” “Yes, you’re cheesy but fun 80’s movies have taken a hold of me.” Alejandra tip toes as Jon lowers himself to catch her breath as Alejandra’s lips connect with Jon’s as they kiss under the sun setting on the Hudson River to the strings and percussion of salsa music.

Hello Herbert,
This is obviously an amazing write-up. I can tell you've put in a lot of effort into this. Fantastic!
Have you been able to publish any book?
