America’s most unsolved case was a very interesting one for many people. Why? Well, the only thing left at the scene of the crime was the body of a famous actor, a knife, and a note. Before we go into our theory of the crime here’s why we are writing this book. My wife, Lori, and I have been major fans of unsolved mysteries ever since we met. Our dates would be us going over many crimes and we would compare theories. We always watched the movies they would release about the notorious crimes committed. Our personal favorite crime being The Zodiac Killer. We’ve had many theories about what happened to actor Josh Winston so today we will be sharing with you our theory.
Heres what we know about the death of Josh Winston, his body was found on the side of the street near his house with a bloody knife and a letter written to the police. Josh’s body had been discovered by his manager who was on the way to meet with him about a new movie. You could imagine his surprise when he pulled up to the house to find josh laying on the floor with his throat being slit. When the police go to josh’s house they immediately took his body to the morgue and looked for evidence. They found the knife that they assumed to be the murder weapon under his body. It was the only piece of evidence they found other than a note. The note they found had this written “Josh Winston death tonight should not be mourned. His death was long overdue as we have been planning this for a while. Our final decision being his performance in the most recent portrayal in Zodiac. The disgrace he has put on many amazing idols to us. - Signed BPL” The note actually gave the detectives a few clues. Though of course, they missed a few clues. After examining the bloody knife, the handwriting of the note, and the body the team of detectives on this case were stumped. Before they closed the case they announced that they had given all the details out and if anyone were to ever come close to the answer to call the hotline tips. Of course, it’s been quite a few years from that case but my wife thinks its time to release our book after spending our lifetime trying to solve this case.
Our theory of what happened is quite simple we already know that these killers hated Josh Winston’s work since the beginning of his career. Josh had only been about eight popular films at the time, most of them being about serial killers and unsolved mysteries. First to explain our theory lets look at the evidence. Number one, The body, when the report came back about his body he was found to be dead for at least six hours before. He was found around 10 o’clock in the morning. This means that Josh had died around 4 o’clock in the morning. Which in Los Angeles at the time was a time many people were up. Most celebrities would usually just be getting back from the parties they attended. Josh didn’t have any liquor or drugs in his body at the time. So they ruled out him not knowing what or where he was going. The second piece of evidence is the knife. The knife only had josh DNA on it. The only thing the found about the knife was that it was only sold in select retailers like Bed Bath and Beyond or William Sonoma. The kife also had a production date on it, 1980 was the year printed. Although police wanted to follow through with this lead the chief said it would be a waste of time since many of these knives had been purchased at the time. The last piece of evidence that was also the most important was the note left at the scene. The clues that the police gathered from the note were these. One, There was more than one killer. Two, They had been long haters of Winston. And lastly, they were really into famous crime murders. The police never figured out what BPL meant though. After months of trying to solve this case, they gave up. For the past forty years, the murder has been a mystery to many.
Here is our idea of what happened that night. We like to think that the murder happened between 2 and 3 am. Most parties didn’t end till 3 but most of the celebrities lived about 30 minutes to an hour away, which gave the killers time to kill josh set up the evidence then return home. I like to think that these killers didn’t kill josh with the knife left at the scene. I think the knife was a stunt to throw the police off. I think they took inspiration from their idol the Zodiac. He never left any type of DNA at the scene. I believe that they killed josh with another weapon then wore latex glove tp take another knife to put blood on it. After they got the fake weapon they lied it down then put his body over it. As for the note, these killers really gave more clues to the detectives. “Josh Winston’s death tonight should not be mourned.” to me, this shows that they don’t feel bad about his death and it seems as if they believe they did the world a service. The middle part of the note where they talk about planing his death shows that they put real thought into his murder. They wanted it to be perfect and completely confuse everyone who has tried to solve it. These killers were also major fans of crimes that are unsolved and they were very offended of how Winston could portray The Zodiac Killer that way. This gave them a motive.
Although there is one thing that is missing in our theory these killers really must’ve known what they were doing in they have gotten away with it up until now. One thing nobody has been able to solve was what BPL stood for. No one would know, of course, except the killers. Well, I’m here to tell you what these three letters mean. BPL is my wife and I’s initials. Why would we ever let anyone go out and gain fame from these amazing people and display them in such a poor way? It’s unfair to all the work these people have put in to become known for their crime. Also, Josh represented the Zodiac terribly, Lori and I only watch the movie because it fills us with the excitement of our crime and how much thought process we put into it. Of course, once this book is officially published me and Lori will be in jail for the out crime of killing Josh Winston but we will never regret it.
