Dear Johny,

The Bookface is so easy to use. Thank your classmates for “friending” me. I have 32 friends now. I am more popular in the Bookface than in the real world. Your mother told me that you scored a goal on Friday. Congratulations! I am so proud of you. Your mother sent me a video. I will watch it as soon as I figure out how to play it. I am sorry I couldn’t make it to the game. Freddy, my neighbor from down the hall, went to light a candle but lit his cat’s tail instead. Well, that darn cat ran all over the living room and caught the shades on fire. Luckily a staff member was nearby to toss water on the cat and throw the drapes out the window. No worries, dear, no one was hurt. Unfortunately, we had to wait for the fire department to assess the situation before anyone could leave the building. Turns out Freddy’s cat wasn’t registered. It wasn’t even his cat. He was harboring someone else's cat. It followed Freddy to his apartment one morning after a walk. Apparently, the owners had been calling for weeks saying their cat was in our building. Well, anyway, I made you snickerdoodles. I hope that makes up for missing your big game.

Lots of love,

Grandma Hart

Dear Johny,

I couldn’t remember my password. The librarian helped me set up a new account and showed me how to “friend” you. I’m sorry I missed your game again. I arranged a ride with my neighbor, Sharon Long. Her grandson is also on the team. Do you know Lincoln Marvey? Anyway, Sharon Long and I were going to go together, so I told your mother not to worry about me. That afternoon, Sharon Long went to the salon. The stylist tinted her hair just a shade too red. In truth, it was the color of Dorothy’s shoes. So I told my friend how I went to cosmetology school back in the day, and we could have her hair back to a decent color in no time. What I remembered too late was that I failed color theory. When all was said and done, her hair was green! By the time we cleaned up, it was about time to hit the hey. Your mother said you scored 10 goals! How incredible. You must be the star of the team. I can’t wait to see you next week.

Lots of love to you,

Grandma Joan Hart

Hi Grandma Joan Hart, what a debacle this week was. No worries, honey. My hair stylist fixed it for free. She was not thrilled. Laugh out loud! My hair is back to an acceptable shade. I’ll see you at bingo tonight. Sincerely, Sharon.

DEAR JOHNNY,

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE VISIT THIS WEEKEND. IT WAS NICE TO FINALLY MEET LUCY. SHE IS THE SWEETIST. YOUR MOTHER HAS BEEN TELLING ME HOW YOU MUCH FUN YOU HAVE HAD WITH HER. WHAT A LITTLE BLESSING. I PROMISE TO MAKE IT TO ONE OF YOUR GAMES THIS YEAR. MARGO FROM DOWN THE HALL CAUGHT THE FLU LAST TUESDAY. SHE WAS HACKING AND COUGHING OVER EVERYTHING ALL WEEK. SOME PEOPLE JUST CAN’T KEEP THINGS TO THEMSELVES. ANYWAY, SHE GOT THREE PEOPLE ON MY FLOOR SICK, AND I DIDN’T WANT TO GET YOU SICK IF I GOT SICK. I KNOW HOW IMPORTANT YOUR GAMES ARE. LUCK BE A LADY, I AM STILL HEALTHY.

LOTS OF LOVE,

Grandma Joan Hart

Dear Johny,

I finally made it to one of your games. What a spectacular game it was! Please tell MelAni Meleny that it was a delight meeting her. She is such a sweet young girl. Do you think she is the one? Your grandfather and I were engaged on the second date. We were married three months later. Oh, the scandal it caused. Your grandfather had just moved from Kentucky when he met me. Unfortunately, he failed to cut ties with this southern harlot. She came in guns a-blazin' to our engagement party. She nearly ruined our relationship. Luckily it was just a punch bowl that shattered. My father, your great-grandfather, just about had a heart attack on the spot. It all worked out in the end and we were married 56 years. All of this to say, you are growing up so fast.

Your mother told me your team was going to the tournaments this year. That must be so exciting for the team. Tell all of your friends it was nice to meet them. Mark Witherby seems like such a special young man.

Lots of love,

Grandma Joan Hart
