"Please, stay with me. Don't leave me here alone...." The girl's blonde hair glimmered as the sunlight lightly brushed upon her. Her tears fall out of her red eyes. If people were to see her current state, they would surely be mistaken those eyes to rubies.
"......I'm sorry. But I'm sure 'the one' will come and save you from this hell. Then, you will be able to find happiness." The man laid before her spoke, trying to even his breathing while gently caressed her cheeks. His other hand clutched tightly onto the wound on his torso, trying to slow down the blood that kept seeping out of his body.
"I'll be happy if you don't leave me, please!" She still had a pleading look as she gazed upon the man before her. "I lost enough people......" She whispered as her voice started to break.
He was heartbroken by the sight before him. His niece whom he treated like a daughter was in so much grieve. Of course, it pained him not being able to stay by her side. But fate is nonetheless cruel, it won't go according to one's wishes that easily.
"This is goodbye, Nova. You'll be able to be happy one day. I want you to know that I will always be with you, I love you." As soon as the words left from his mouth, his body became still. His hands fell to his side as if life left him.
"Why....why why why WHY! Why does it has to be me?! Why must everything I have be taken away from me?!" She screamed and gripped her dishevelled hair as past memories flashed before her. Yet, she slowly chuckled at her memories.
Her loving parents left her alone after a tragic accident.
Her friends betrayed her.
Her uncle, her only remaining family, just died in front of her. Yet, she couldn't do anything but to watch. Tragedies kept coming after her, leaving no mercy.
The world was against her, and she kept pondering her mind, is this what it meant to be hated by God?
She wondered, when was the last time she felt happy? Her life was like a merry-go-round of misery and she couldn't stop it. She never genuinely felt happy after the death of her parents, and always faked her smile to keep her uncle from worrying. But now, she has no reason to do such thing anymore.
She was broken before, but now she was just shattered inside out.
She can't help but wonder why others were jealous of her.
Yes, she was a beauty, she was intelligent.
But she would rather throw it away in exchange for a normal life.
Another question popped into her mind, what exactly could be considered as a normal life? Maybe being able to feel emotions, that would be a good start. But she knew that there wasn't any hope for her, despite what her uncle told her.
But after her uncle died, she felt a new emotion, anger.
How could she let the person who killed her uncle get away?
Nova was determined to get rid of them and wipe them out of existence.
Few years after the horrible incident, she trained hard in swordsmanship and was able to be the first female leader of the royal knights. Not to mention, she got all the information she needed for her revenge.
She may have avenged her uncle, but don't one would be happy after getting revenge? But why? Why did she feel empty? What was the emptiness that she lacked in her heart?
Years passed since then, and yet the emptiness didn't go away. At some point, she had already given up on finding happiness. But a young man whose hair was white as snow, eyes as blue as the ocean might just be the answer she was looking for.
"Nova!" Hearing his voice, she put down the book she was reading and stood up. Her hair flowed along the wind as she stare into his eyes. It always intrigued her that his eyes seemed to have no end, it was a deep abyss, and she was attracted to it.
"Your highness, what brings you here?" Nova asked as she faced the heir to the throne and someone beyond her reach. She appreciated him for being there for her but that was all, or so she thought.
He was always kind and warm towards her, being there for her, he showered her with affection. He fell in love with her, but knew that she was unaware of his feelings.
She couldn't deny how she longed for his presence when he was gone, the emptiness in her heart would melt away when he was beside her. But what she felt didn't matter. The fact that he was someone unreachable was still a solid fact.
And she was afraid, afraid if she became too attached to him, something bad would happen to him. She considered him as a person dear to her especially after they shared their dreadful past with each other and comforted each other, but she knew she couldn't let herself get any more attached. She was oblivious to this new feeling, a feeling in which was called ‘love’.
As days passed, the two did became closer. She tried avoiding him at one point because the sharp pain in her heart arisen whenever she saw him. The thought of leaving him made her heart ached.
However, Ains didn't give up on her. He made sure she knew she was dear to him. He stuck close to her no matter what excuses she told him. His love for her grew every day. But it wasn't only for him, he came to the point where he could make Nova feeling flustered with his actions.
He made the emotionless girl, flustered. A great achievement indeed. It was the time they spent with each other that made them look forward for the next day.
She slowly fell and fell, she fell to the point where she could no longer thought of leaving him, even if he loved another, even if he hurt her, she would still stay by his side.
He finally got the courage to confess to her. No matter her reaction, he was already sure he would stay by her side. The two broken souls mended each other, they healed each other and most of all, and they complete each other.
Nova recalled her uncle's last words when she got confessed. She felt the happiness that she never felt before. She, of course accepted. She held back her tears and stare at the blue sky above her, she let out a heartfelt smile as she whispered.
"Uncle was this the happiness you were talking about?"
