Smith's P.O.V

I tilt my head hearing his laugh. What was so funny about a tea kettle whistling? I wondered as I sat up. "Everything good?" I asked.

"Yeah!" I couldn't help but smile a bit, and soon Ky came from around the corner. "I made us some tea, both are Earl Gray. I hope you don't mind love." I rolled my eyes smiling.

"It's whatever." I reply, taking the tea offered. "Shit!" Ky burst out laughing. 

"Careful!" He grins, watching me carefully balance the cup between my fingers. I eye him with wide eyes.

"I forgot how hot it was…" I muttered, setting it down on my nightstand. Kylo did his best to muffle his laugh. "Oh shut it." I say.

"Mhm." He smiles, meeting my eyes. I smile again and roll my eyes. 

I lay down, and stare at my ceiling, hearing Ky hiss a little. "Karma, bitch." I grin. 

"Oh shush!" I laugh.

I stood over the sink washing the dishes. The day has been wonderful so far: my dad left for work early in the morning meaning I could blast music and clean, Kylo came over a bit later.. I smile. We spent most of the day just laying in bed talking about nothing, then there was tea.. Then we went out- 

I bounce on my feet a little putting all of the dried dishes in their proper places. 

"Rex!-" A hand touched my shoulder. I jumped turning around, wide eyed. 

"Wh-what?" I blink seeing his expression. "Hey, what's wrong babe?" I ask grabbing onto his shoulders. He gulped and after a few, I noticed his eyes shining. I frowned.

"Something happened at Inferna's… Eli says they and Maxlynn got in a fight involving that new guy… And…" He shook his head, simply showing me the text. My eyes widen.

"He fucking pushed Inferna?" Ky nodded nervously. 

"I.. I asked Inferna.. And they say he seemed anxious.. Maxie's not responding.." I let out a long sigh. 

"Do you know anything about this guy?"

"His name's Koner.." Ky responded with a tiny shrug. I shoved my hands into my pockets. 

"We should go check on the lot.. See what's going on.." He nods.

Reed's P.O.V

I walked into the house, tossing my school bag onto the ground. I inhaled deeply making my way to the kitchen for a glass of water. I opened the cupboards, jumping a little as a plastic bowl fell out. "Shit!" I muttered.

"Koner- quit throwing things!" My mom said. I tensed turning towards the sound of her voice. She was coming around the corner.

"Sorry- it fell-"

"Who are you? God if you turn out like your father.." She hissed, shaking her head, making her way to the porch. I felt my chest tighten. I grabbed the bowl from the ground, slowly putting it in the sink. 

"Who in the world are yo-" My eyes narrowed and before I knew it my hands met their shoulders pushing them back, against the wall. "Hey- what the-"

"Damn it Inferna! Leave it!" I barked as I pushed them. They flinched and immediately my stomach dropped. I stumbled back.

"Fine. I get it." They said calmly. I shove my hands into my hoodie's pocket.

"Shit- Inferna-" I felt nausea hit me like a train.

"Leave, Koner. Don't come back." My eyes widen. I pull my hands out of my pockets. My breathing cut short.

"Inferna-" Fuck no, fuck no fuckno fucknofucknofucknofuckno-

"You heard me. Leave. Now, or I'll call the cops-"

"No!" I screamed, lurching forward. My hands flew to my hair, pulling on it slightly. No- no no no. I inhaled deeply attempting to control my breathing but it just got shorter, and shorter. My eyes started to water. "You.. You're not like him.. Alright Koner..? You.." I felt myself gasp. Mom, I thought with a tiny laugh. You might be right. 

I felt bile climb up my throat. I tore off my blankets, making sure to glance at my clock, it was four in the morning. I quickly made my way to the bathroom, flipping up the toilet lid. Immediately the bile I felt lurched out. I felt tears drip down. 

I can't be like him. 

I can't. I can't-

"Koner? Ko- woah- hey, what happened?" I tensed up hearing Max. 

"No..Nothing." I gasp, shakily standing up. I flushed the toilet, flipping the lid down. 

"You're shaking-"

"It's nothing." I hiss. He paused.

"Okay.." He put a hand on my shoulder. "You know he's not gonna get us.. Yeah?"

"..You don't know that.."

"I do though-" I turned around sharply.

"Just because you worked for him doesn't mean you'll know if he gets to us or not!" I bark. His face twisted. I felt my stomach drop. My hands flew to my armpits, I hid them there, squishing them. His eyes narrowed and just as I was to speak-

He hugged me. My eyes widen.

"I know.. I apologize, K.D." He says softly. I felt my stomach churn. I bit my tongue feeling tears come and come. His hand rubbed my back. 

I just cried more.

Kennedy's P.O.V

I tossed my phone onto the bed, clenching my teeth. I inhaled deeply leaning against the wall. I folded my hands, closing my eyes. I don't know what's been happening, but I've been reporting whatever Inferna told me to Ky. The stranger involved: Koner, isn't local. All we know is that Maxlynn knows him somehow, and the two are couch surfing together..

I groan, climbing out of bed. From the sounds of it, what I and surely Inferna, know of Maxlynn.. They should've kept the two there with them. I thought to myself, opening my bedroom door. "Mom, momma, I'm going to Inferna's!" 

"Okay, be safe!

"Be safe kid!" The two shouted.

"I will, you too!" I say making sure I had my phone. I grabbed my car keys making my way out the door. 

I pulled into Inferna's driveway, seeing a Jeep. I rose a brow getting out of the car. No one was inside. I let out a long sigh, quickening my pace. I knocked on the door and quickly it opened.

"Ky?" I took a step back. I blinked, looking behind him. There was someone with.. Almost a sickly kind of pale skin, with freckles and short fluffy black hair. "Who's this?" I asked, raising a brow. The person gulped, taking a deep breath.

"Uh.. I'm Rex." They say with a slight cough. I blinked a bit before nodding. 

"Eli. Nice to meet you-" I glance at Ky who was eyeing the two of us nervously. I couldn't help but chuckle. "Ky.. How's Inferna?"

"I'm just fine." Their voice said. The three of us jumped, looking towards the sound of their voice. Inferna sighed deeply before motioning everyone inside. 

I folded my hands together, staring at them after Inferna finished telling us what happened. "Are they fucking?" Rex asked. I scoffed at that and Inferna snorted.

"Rex!" Ky barked, nervous.

"What?- They're both being secretive, and Max's not answering." He replied.

"I don't think they are." Inferna says with a sigh. "When I asked them if they were together… Maxie got pissed-"

"It's Maxie-" Ky said.

"He smacked me." Inferna said quietly. My head jerked up. 

"What?" Ky and I barked. Rex inhaled sharply, hugging his knees. Inferna nodded weakly. 

"I… I think Max's parents or something has to do with this." 

My eyes widen. "Fuck." I hiss.
