Mystery

I could feel the cold wind nipping at my skin. I tried to rub my face to warm it a bit only to find I couldn't move my arms. Panic begins to set in as I struggle against my restraints. After what felt like hours I finally stop. Taking a deep breath I take look at my surroundings. It smelled like a wet cave. Cold.....so very cold. I link my fingers together in order to warm my hands. My legs were numb as I struggled to get to my feet.

The walls to my cell were covered in slime and

mud. A small pallet in the corner of the room where I had woken up. There was a

cup near the door with what looked like water, but I wasn't going to test that

theory. The bindings around my wrists felt like rope abrading the skin.

How did I get here? What happened? How

long have I been here?

A million questions ran through my mind. I

shake my head to clear my thoughts. The last thing I remember I was out with

some friends. It was rare I had time to relax and hangout. Between work, school

and home life I don't have much free time. We had decided to do some shopping

and go to dinner and a movie. I remember shopping and the movie and dinner but

after that was blur.

A noise caught my attention. It sounded like

someone pacing.

"Hello?! Is someone there?!"

I heard a gasp and rustling.

"I'm here! Are you okay?"

"What the hell is going on?! Why are we

here?!!"

I know it wasn't his fault and he was in the

same situation as me but knowing there were others made me panic even more.

What was going to happen to us? Who is

doing this to us?

A million scenarios raced through my head. All

forms of torture and mutilation. My heart started to race and I began to

hyperventilate. My got light headed and dropped down to the floor. I began to

cry.

"Hey, Calm down" he said. I

continued to sob into my hands.

I cannot believe this is happening to me.

I've always been careful when I was out. I never take drinks from strangers. I always leave one headphone out when I'm outside so

I can be aware of my surroundings.

Despair set in and I sobbed uncontrollably.

"Miss! please stop crying. My name is

Jay. What's yours?"

I took a deep breath to try to myself calmed

down. I felt as if my heart was in my throat.

"Elana..." I croaked out.

"M....My name is Elana. How long have you

been down here? Do you know what is going on?"

"No. One minute I was out with friends

and the next I woke up here."

"ME TOO!!!! I cannot believe this. We

have to get out of here!"

There was some silence before I heard

footsteps coming closer.

"WHO ARE YOU? WHAT DO YOU WANT?" Jay

shouted.

There was a scuffle. It sounded like people

fighting.

"Leave him alone you coward." I

shouted.

The impact of the strikes sounding like

gunshots echoing in the cave. I heard Jay grunt at the impact.

"STOOOPPPP!" I screamed.

The fight continued. It sounded like Jay

really tried to fight back. There was a loud crack and then silence.

"Jay!?" I shouted.

Silence...........

"Jay.....????"

Silence...........

I held my breath, listening for any sounds but

all that could be heard was the dripping of water. There was the sound of

something being dragged across the ground.

"Please! Leave him alone!" I cried

out to our captor.

A shadow appeared at my door. A masked man

appeared at the door.

"Please, Let me go. I promise I won't

tell anyone." I said

He took a deep breath as if he was trying to

smell me. He shook his head and walked away.

"NOOOO! PLEASE LET ME GO! I WANT TO GO

HOME!!!!" I cried out.

I sat on the pallet and tried to come up with

a plan. I don't know how long I had been sitting.

My hands and legs started to go numb. I stood

up and looked around for anything that might help me untie my hands.

"Come on Elana. You can get out of

this." I whispered to myself. After about thirty minutes of search I found

nothing.

I kicked the wall near me, getting frustrated.

Pieces of rock dislodged and fell to the ground. I kept kicking until larger

pieces fell out.

I grabbed the sharpest shard I could find and

tried to cut my ties; nicking my skin in the process. I winced as sharp

pain shot through my hands but kept on cutting. With my hands now bloody I

managed to wriggle them free from the bindings. I managed to get free without

cutting any major arteries or doing serious damage to my hands. I tore a piece

of my sweater to wrap my hands up and avoid infection. I put the rope in my

back pocket with the thought that I might need it later.

Now to get out of here alive.

I quietly moved towards the door of the cell,

rubbing my wrist trying to get the blood flow back. I tugged on the door that

surprisingly opened without any resistance. I peeked out of the doorway hoping

not to get caught in the process. The cave looked well taken care of. The floor

was damp but not gross. Seeing no one in sight I stepped out of my cell. I

crept towards what I hoped was Jays cell. Not surprised to find that no one was

there, but something was off.

There was no signs of a fight or struggle.

EVERYTHING was immaculate! Not one thing was out of place. The cell looked more

like a young woman's room.

Everything was surprisingly familiar. IT

LOOKED LIKE MY ROOM!!!!

"What the hell is going on?" I

whispered to myself.

I spun around, hearing a sound behind me and

saw a man standing in the doorway. He looked so familiar and at that moment,

everything came back to me.

He was at the shopping center and the movie

theater AND the restaurant I ate at!

He tilted his head to the side as if he was

assessing.

He smiled and said

"Hello"

Before closing the door and locking me in.
