Teens & Young Adult Inspirational

After a long day at work, I came home and hopped into the shower. Letting the water run down me, I stood there thinking about the day I lived through. Letting out a sigh, I finished washing myself off. I stepped out of the shower and dried myself off. Wrapping the same towel around my torso, I looked into the mirror. I ran my hands through my short, black hair, and stretched out the skin under my eyes. I took a good look at the large bags showing on my olive skin.

“Come on Matthew.” I thought to myself. It was one stressful day. Tomorrow will be a new day and will bring new opportunities. Feeling satisfied enough with the small pep talk that I gave myself, I made my way to my room. I put on some pajamas and collapsed onto my bed. I was so exhausted from working all day and passed out a minute after my head hit the pillow.

After what felt like five minutes, I woke up and squinted my eyes against the light. After my eyes adjusted to the light, I opened my eyes fully. I began to panic once I realized that I was not in my room. I tried rising up out of the bed I was on, but my body didn't obey. Instead, my arm reached out and grabbed something off a table beside the bed. Moving the object into my view, I saw that it was a phone. The fingers that didn’t belong to my hand, clicked the power button. The screen lit up and I saw that the time was six o'clock in the morning. I then looked at the date displayed on the lock screen. Based on that information, I realized that it was the next day. My mind filled with different thoughts, as I tried to figure out what was going on.

“This is a dream.” I thought to myself. I closed my eyes and tried to go back to sleep. Although my eyes were closed, my body continued to move without  my permission. The covers were pulled back and I opened my eyes abruptly as “my” body got out of the bed and started walking. I looked around as my body moved to the bedroom door.the walls were plain white and had minimal decorations. Moving past the brown door, I found myself in a hallway. Before I even had time to take in the surroundings, my body moved into the room right across from the room I came out of. The room my body moved into was a bathroom. Panic filled my mind as I looked into the mirror. I looked into blue eyes that didn't belong to me. The man in the mirror had golden skin and blonde hair.

“What is happening to me?” I tried to say, but my lips didn't even move. As my view moved down to the sink, I instinctively closed my eyes as water splashed onto “my” face. The rest of the morning was completed And I was not looking into a closet. The closet was filled with suits and formal wear. a pair of black pants and a white shirt was chosen. black blazer with been put on, and a pair of black dress shoes. not  having anything else to do, I watched to see what would happen. "my "body moved to a kitchen and a piece of bread was put into a toaster. After it was done, the toast was eaten. Curiosity filled my mind even more, because I tasted nothing. Moving across the room, "my"  legs carried me to a small hallway. There "my" handcraft Satchel bag, and I left out the door. Walking out of an apartment, I moved into a sleek, black car. After a while of driving, the car came to a stop In front of a tall building. I couldn't spot a sign, but my body walked with a confident stride. Upon entering the building, I saw  the front desk. people working there stood up.

"good morning, Mr. Barrett.”  the people  addressed me, or the person whose life I was seeing.

“Mr. Barrett?  I think I've heard that name before.”  I thought to myself. as I was racking my brain trying to remember, Mr. Barrett  made his way through the building. I watched as he entered a room and walked towards a desk. As I looked around, I noticed the nameplate on the desk. CEO, Atticus Barrett Is what it read.  After seeing that, I remembered where I heard his name before. I had seen it on a TV commercial. I remember it well, because I had thought to myself that being a CEO and being rich must  Be nice. Also, the whole experience was strange. I got excited thinking about living life through a rich man. I didn't know if this was a dream, or how long it would last. Even so, I planed to see all that I could about the life of a rich person. Soon after sitting down, he opened the computer and began writing things out. At the same time he signed a bunch of papers sitting beside him.

“ Is this all he does?”  I asked myself. “ This is easy.” He spent a couple hours doing this, and that's when my views changed. Person after person came into the office, asking something of Mr. Barrett. He spent the whole day taking care of lots of different things and talking to many different people. The end of the day, I was exhausted from watching him do his job. Not once have I heard him complain either. After the day was over, he went straight home and ate dinner. After that he went to sleep. When he fell asleep, the world went dark and I too fell asleep. I woke up to see my own bedroom, and I sat up. I grabbed my phone and I saw that a whole day had passed.

" So it wasn't a dream?" I said aloud. Finally having the ability to talk. I thought back on the previous day and realized. Everyone goes through hard times, even a rich CEO. And after seeing life through another person's eyes, I promised to never judge a book by its cover ever again.
