Friendship Creative Nonfiction Mystery

I woke up from the heavy sleep, the clock tip – tip. I squeezed my face hard to keep awake, feeling so dizzy and hard on myself. Jimmy! Jimmy! Jimmy! That’s all I could hear. I heard my mum calling my name. Oops! It’s morning. What are you still doing in bed at this time, my mum screamed? Well, I am used to all those screaming since I was young. I am a teenage boy, 17 years of age. I am a child of a single mother, that is, brought up by my mum alone.

My dad ran away from home when I was just 10 years old with his old- granny mistress. I wonder why he did that, there are still young people of his classes, old granny for that matter. I don’t care anyway if he comes back or not because he is not that responsive with the family's daily transactions. , Which makes it all frustrating and… I wish to make my mum proud of me in the future and not to think of my dad anymore since he doesn’t care about us either. Still in bed scratching my face hard.

My mum barged in fuming up with anger. Do you know what today is? My mum asked. Today is… let me check my calendar, amazed. Today is Sunday, what! I didn’t know that mum. What time is It? I asked.

Almost 7:30 am (Western World clock!), She blinks. I still have some chores to do and here it’s 7: 30, almost. And the church service is at 8 am. Why did I act that way, because I love going to church so I don’t joke with it in all ways? I rushed into the old-fashioned kitchen, to do some cleaning and get myself ready for church all other chores will be done after church service. I love going to church so I didn’t expect my self-getting late…

 Ready, my mum asked.

Yeah, done, fitting my shoes in.

Let’s continue with our talks, why does my mom love shouting that much, it begins when my dad moved out since she ignore the idea of getting divorced. Christianity aspect, she believes that divorce is allowed when their unfaithfulness in the marriage. Unknown to her, about husband mistress. And with the act display by her husband (my dad) brings about the screaming and keeping fault to herself for letting that happen to the family especially me.

It’s tomorrow already. I have to wake up by 5 am in morning to read and arrange my books for the day. And to Cook for myself since mum was not around to do that for his son. I didn’t have a little brother but expecting one in some months now. My mum finds out about this after my 17th birthday with my stepdad and his 20 years old daughter studying genealogist, who happens to be my older sister, trying to accomplish her dreams.

The school bus will be arriving by 7 am, the assembly at 7: 45 am. Standing fully prepared to wait for the school bus to arrive. Not long, I heard the usual bell rang. I have a lot to do in school today as a prefect every Monday and Friday is ever stressing for us also tiring at the same time. I brushed up my face with a smile. After my duties as a prefect, I was asked by the principal for attention. I didn’t know what’s wrong! I walked into his office smiling skeptically. My teeth chattering in the chill air around.

Sir, you called for me, I stated.

Yeah, have your seat, my lovely student, he remarked.

Thank you, sir, surprised. I never heard him call or address the students as lovely. Shift my thoughts.

I learned that you are doing a great job as choosing perfect in the school premises leaving nothing behind, the principal started.

Thank you, sir, I smiled.

And I will like to have some special and honorary students like you in the future, the principal continued.

Thanks for the remarks, sir, I smiled again.

Not just a remark or remarks but I need your thoughts on it, like a son to a father and not principal to a student, now! Said twerking his pen round.

Due to my understanding mode, all I can say or see about it, it takes time and awareness. And that person might be shy, bold. likewise, myself a shy type not everyone sees the beauty and the willingness of activeness in me. This doesn’t mean that a shy person should be chosen as a prefect. If God says that this, is one’s time to be a leader and it is surely. The willing attitude to be a prefect at a young age brings positivity and the energy of carrying out my duties and obligation as a prefect. I explained.

From your words, I learn that a book can’t be judged with its cover but what it is in the heart we can’t see until such a person is giving a chance

Yes, sir. I argue in support of it.

Okay, thank you. you can get back to your duties, the principal ends the conservation.

Okay, bye sir, I bid him.

I got home looking famished and tired at the same time. On my arrival home, mum already setting the table.

Mum, I’m back, I announced

Welcome darling, how was school today? Still working around it.

Splendid, I answered

I glad to hear that from my baby boy, cheering me up

It’s late already, all were expected to go to their respective bed. So was me. (Snoring hard).

Mum’s POV

Awake at the midnight feeling a slight pain in my stomach. Pregnant women had the pain but this is unusual for me. I stood up …

What is this? Seeing the strange thing shocked me, but I didn’t expose myself to environmental and workplace hazards such as high levels of radiation or toxic. I don’t think I stressed myself.

(Groaning in pain) uh! Uh! Jimmy! Jimmy! I couldn’t scream that loud.

Jimmy’s POV

Floating in my dreams, surrounded by lovely people and friends.

(Snoring) ugh ugh argh...

I had a tiring day in school I wasn’t able to hear mum calling.

Mum’s POV

Stretching my hands for my phone (Calling my husband–to–be).

Hello, cried out in pain

Hi! What’s wrong with your voice, suspicious

I’m having pain and also bleeding, I answered.

What! Okay! I am coming right away.

Husband- to be POV

I am in the office when I received a call from my fiancée.

I rushed out of the office for the car, away I went.

The image of my fiancée laying lifeless and figureless in pain freak me out. Jimmy! Shout on top of my voice.

Jimmy came out sleepy

Come over, I ordered

What’s up dad, Jimmy asked

Huh your mum is… just come over here, I couldn’t say anything

Mum! Tapping her

Join hand with me, I request

Okay!

Jimmy’s POV

When I heard my stepdad call my name. I answered him, saw him in confusion walking up down scratching his head hard. Mum was unconscious on the ground. Is this how it feels having younger ones. Almost losing my mum to pregnancy is my worst nightmare.
