Inspirational Friendship Fiction

London, outside of Heathrow Airport, Notes App, 8 AM:

"Gentle smile of fate opens up my eye

As the clock was set up to this day and time

I have launched a shooting star by following my heart

Goosebumps on my forearm whisper:

"Once lost is now found."

EXIT the app, and LOCK the screen.

"Time to get inside...Oh, I should check once again if I have everything with me," Josh excitedly mumbled to himself.

He performed a quick check-up and happily concluded that everything was in perfect order. His plane will take off at 11 AM, so he has enough time for everything. A strand of his light brown hair fluttered in the wind as he was excitedly entering Heathrow Airport.

Josh is a 30-year-old journalist who quit his job to pursue a passion of becoming a full-time writer.

What was bothering him was the annoying fact that for most of his life, most things were in the realm of possibilities - this could happen, yet it is still not happening. When will it happen?

Oh, this one! This was his favorite question. The one that kept haunting him daily, lurking from every corner, ingrained in every aspect of his life. Although he was aware that this was not something a journalist would ask.

Instead, a journalist considers what already is and starts digging. The job of a journalist is to look directly at the issue. To pierce through both comfortable and uncomfortable carefully and fully committed. What happened and where? Who did it? How did they do it and why?

To make the airport control experience a bit more fun, Josh decided to pretend that he was the target of a journalist:

What's happening and where? "I am waiting at the airport. I came way too early because I have a massive fear of missing a flight and hate being stressed and in a hurry."

Who planned this trip? "I planned it and borrowed some money to execute it. To do so, I took my first loan from the bank and must add that I was secretly excited that I summoned the courage to take this financial risk."

How will Josh get out of the debt safely? "No idea. I am on my way to adventure, and I will not ruin my mood by thinking seventy steps ahead. That is what I am best at, but I refuse to do it this time. Not this time. I am determined to unlearn toxic thought patterns and replace them with the beauty of now."

Why is he doing all of this? "I have a strange gut feeling that this is necessary for my further growth, as something meaningful is about to happen on this trip, and it will turn my life upside-down."

People were murmuring, carrying their bags, looking for a quick refreshment, or scrolling on their phones with a morning kind of misery. Josh passed the airport control, so he got time to relax and slow down.

8:45 AM

"What do I need?" Blank. Brain stopped collaborating.

He thought to himself:

"Okay, this is a perfect opportunity to stand still and breathe."

A few breaths later...life became good again. Calm and joyous, he looked down and felt like a kid.

"God, I love my new sneakers way too much!"

Josh smiled and was ready to go to the airport restaurant to buy a delicious-looking donut that was mischievously inviting him from afar. However, just as he was about to look up, a shiny silver watch next to his right sneaker caught his attention and delayed his plan.

He gently picked the elegant women's watch from the ground and started carefully observing.

"This is a unique piece of jewelry, no doubt. The number of details on this one...It's certainly handmade. The subtleness of the design is breathtaking. I've never seen a watch this stunning! The hands are adorned with tiny pieces of sapphire and God, this violet blue is hypnotizing! Wait, sapphire represents wisdom, divine guidance..."

Good things take time - engraved on the back side of the watch.

"Yes, I thought so. Patience and trust. Okay, I look strange now. I've been staring obsessively for a few minutes. Donuts first, quest later. First the best, then the rest."

He nearly choked on the cheeky rhyme, but he couldn't resist. "I need sugar. ASAP."

The raspberry and vanilla mix was decadent. The donut was generously filled and

Josh was having the time of his life. He held a donut in his left hand, forgetting that the watch was still in his right hand for everyone to see.

As he was halfway through with eating he sensed that a woman across the table was amusingly observing. Josh stopped eating and focused on the woman in front of him.

She was a mesmerizing, ethereal beauty. The woman had glowing skin, big blue eyes, and medium-length light brown hair.

Suddenly, Josh felt goosebumps in his forearm and an overwhelming sense of joy in his heart. This is it - this must be a woman who lost the watch.

She gently smiled and said:

"This donut is a revelation, isn't it? Raspberry and vanilla are a winning combo!"

Slightly confused, but happy, Josh playfully replied:

"Donut? Yes, it is worth coming to the airport...I can go back home now."

She laughed sincerely and added:

"As if the best things are hiding where you least expect them?"

"Oh, sure, life is full of strange turns. That is his professional deformation," Josh added.

She nodded with a mischievous smile on her face:

"The watch is mine, by the way. I can't thank you enough for finding it."

Josh was slightly embarrassed because all of this could be interpreted as if he was a thief.

"I know what you're thinking, it is okay. A thief would never hold a stolen item in plain sight for everyone to see. You've just set your priorities straight - food first, everything else later. And frankly, couldn't relate more," the woman added.

Josh was visibly relieved and grateful that she understood the situation. A second later, he handed her the watch and added:

"Thank you for being so lovely and understanding. Honestly, I was super hungry and couldn't think about anything else. Although, that turned out better than one could imagine. Also, you probably know, but your watch radiates love and encouragement. The person who crafted it must have left pieces of their heart with it.”

She nodded and looked at him as if she had much more to say. Once the watch was back in her purse, she replied:

"Should've said it earlier, but here we are...I am Joanna, and I am genuinely happy we met."

"Pleasure is mine, Joanna. My name is Josh, I am an unemployed aspiring writer so, you can imagine, there was a lot of doubt in me before I found your watch. I cannot fully explain, but just holding it and witnessing the message it carries filled me with insane levels of trust. I feel like I am on the right path after a lot of confusion and doubts..."

Joanna looked into his soul as if she lived all the things Josh described.

"Have you heard of Diviti?"

Josh's eyes opened widely with childlike enthusiasm:

"My favorite author of crime novels? Yes! You like her too?"

"Sometimes I do, other times, I doubt her. I am hiding behind her name, Josh. I am Diviti."

He was in shock but kept listening.

"Good things take time, remember? This is engraved on the watch that means so much to me. The moment I saw that message I knew I had to forget about my impatience and extreme doubtfulness if I am ever to live my dream. Therefore, I figured, I had to engrave that message into my being, so I never forget it. This led to the creation of "Diviti" - divine plus timing. That's how she was born. The watch you found is my father's gift to my younger, doubtful self. Are you interested in knowing more details?"

He wanted to shout out loud: "YES!" But instead, he composed himself and answered:

"Wow...I am mind-blown. This is such a wholesome story and I need to know more. Thank you for sharing, you have no idea how much it means to me. Also, you said "younger self", you look quite young, I must say I'm confused. I am 30 by the way..."

Joanna smiled, feeling encouraged to share more:

"You're young Josh, I’ve entered my fifties recently, but I always looked youthful, no idea how it works for me. Somehow, I feel that life becomes easier over time, so it probably reflects. Back to the heart of the matter...?"

"Absolutely, and I must add, I have never thought this way about life. I was always

surrounded by frightened people."

"If you continue to live bravely, you will get to experience my words for yourself. Once you have that experience, you'll realize that other people's fears are just that - other people's fears.

Now, back to the watch. During my late twenties and early thirties, I was working on myself, publishing my work, and trying hard, but things were not working out. I was mostly ignored, even though I knew I was being honest with myself and following my passion. However, I was so focused on the end goal that I couldn't enjoy the journey. I was unaware of the progress and actual transformation I had been through. Absorbing other people's beliefs about life and success made me feel miserable.

Consequently, a month before my 34th birthday, I decided to quit writing because I didn't think I was good enough. I told my husband and family what I decided, which left them heartbroken. They were sincerely rooting for me.

However, no one directly confronted me, hoping I would reconsider.

That month was incredibly difficult as I felt like I was suppressing my true self and ignoring my creative instincts because I believed no one cared.

Everything changed on my birthday because of my father. He spent that entire month secretly creating a special watch to remind me of my value. Thankfully, his thoughtful gesture completely changed the direction of my life.

On that day, Diviti was born. Diviti never cared about approval; she was creating because that is what she naturally does.

Exactly a year later, my first bestseller was published. The rest is history.

But the bestseller is not the point; it is the liberty I experienced by permitting myself to be who I am and immerse myself in that journey.

All aspects of my life benefited because of this, and since that day, every year is getting better and better."

Teary-eyed Josh was looking at Diviti with so much gratitude and admiration. It was as if he was looking in the mirror. How is she translating his thoughts, doubts, and emotions? For the first time in his creative journey, he felt seen. Someone knows the struggle. They also know the way out of it.

"...thank you Diviti. I am out of words, which is rare."

Diviti's heart was full and she felt called to push this young man even further:

"Would you like to share your latest writing with me? I will have to catch a flight in a few minutes, so I would like to use this opportunity to get to know you better."

Josh immediately went for his phone, opened Notes App, and clicked on the last scribbling he made. He handed Joanne the phone:

Notes App, 8 AM:

"Gentle smile of fate opens up my eye

As the clock was set up to this day and time

I have launched a shooting star by following my heart

Goosebumps on my forearm whisper:

"Once lost is now found.”

...............

EDIT: You're born for this, don’t forget that. I can't wait to read more of your work. Here is my phone number: +44 111222999. Once you have more work, call me and I would be thrilled to go out for a coffee to discuss your beautiful art.

Write as much as you can. Write. Write. Write. And enjoy your trip.

With love,

Diviti

P.S. Good things take time."

EXIT the app, and LOCK the screen. Joanne smiled and handed the phone over to Josh.

She got up from her chair quickly and said:

"It was a pleasure Josh, have the most amazing trip!"

"You made my day, I am so grateful...As well Joanne. Thank you."

9:45 AM, Notes App

"A raspberry vanilla donut changed my life. Guts don't lie."

EXIT and LOCK the screen.
