Mystery

One Saturday afternoon, as I was living home to meet my friends in a nearby cafe’, I had run an errand before meeting with my friends. Soon after running an errand, I drove my car to the cafe where I was suppose to meet up with my friends. While I was getting out of my car, my purse accidentally fall out of my pocket. As I was checking my pocket, to my surprise I found a big whole in my pocket. I picked up my wallet and entered the cafe where my friends are waiting for me. My biggest mistake was that I did not check the purse at once when I picked it up from the ground. If only I would have checked none of this would have happened. I would have saved time in searching for my ID card.

As soon as I entered the cafe. My friends we're so excited about the things that we've planned for the day.

We we’re having a splendid time together after a long time apart after graduation. We we’re eating and chatting over a cup of tea. After eating it is time for us to split the bills, I took out my shimmering gold purse out to pay my share of the bill when I finally noticed that my identification card has gone missing. I looked stunned and puzzled as to where it could have been misplaced. I quickly went out to where my car was parked and my best friends came after me. I told them what had happened earlier. And they obliged to help me find my identification card. We first started to find my misplaced identification card at home. As it was my first spot where I could have misplaced my ID card. We ransacked my entire room but found nothing. So my friends asked me, where did I go before meeting them in the cafe. I told them that I had to go to the supermarket as my mother need me to grab some groceries for our gathering tonight. So my friend said that we should go to the supermarket next to search for the lost ID card. Hence, we left to the supermarket at once, my friend told me to ask the lost and found counter, if they happened to notice any lost ID card with this particular serial number xxxx-xxx. The officer told me that he has go over the list of lost and found materials in the computer, so he will need at least an hour for the process to be processed.

After an hour or so, I went to the officer again and he showed me some of the missing ID card that was found earlier. But to my distressed, none of the ID card had my photo or matches my ID card serial number. Me and my friends headed out of the supermarket, and got into my car. We went back to the cafe that we meet earlier. We searched high and low for the my ID card, asked every passer-by if they have noticed any ID card on the road, floor, bathroom or even on payment counters.

My ID card was nowhere to be found. We searched for the ID card till pitch black.  We spent our entire day in searching for ID card. I am so grateful for friends that stick with me to the end. Whether finding my ID card or not, I knew that we should all go back home and rest as all of us we’re exhausted. So we decided to hit the hay. I invited them for a sleepover in my place, as it will be inadvisable for my friends to travel back to their homes in this state of exhaustion. So I provided a cosy room and bed for my friends to rest the night. My friends and I continued our chit chatting. My friends advised me that, I should logged a police report for losing my ID card as it is one of the requirements of making a new ID card. They we’re willing to follow me to the police station and also to the identification office to apply for a new ID card.

The very next day, my friends and I head out to go to the nearest police station nearby my place to logged a police report for losing my ID card. After 1 hour and 25 minutes of Q&A session with the police officer and being issued a complaint letter by the police authority. We soon headed out to the ID office. It was such a long Q&A session. We soon reached the ID office. Entering the office, we we’re led to an office crowded with people to the extent there were no seats vacant. Everyone were standing while waiting for their token number to be called. We had no choice then to stand with them and waited for our turn.

It took us at least 2-3 hours to meet the officer in charge of theft and lost department. As there are many departments or services available in the ID office. We all waited patiently, it took us like forever to meet the officer. I handed the officer my police report and gave the officer some time for him to approve my application for a new ID card. Finally after hours of waiting, the officer finally gave me my brand new ID card. After settling the payment for the ID card, my friends and I head out from the office. We we’re grateful that despite it was a long and tiring day, we achieved what we came for. I now have a new ID card. And I don’t have to be worried about not having a ID card or lost my ID card. We can all now go home and rest from a tiring day. This is a true indecent that has taught me a lot, especially being extra careful with my purse.

In a nutshell, It is no harm done to check several times before doing something or going somewhere. It was a good experience and life lesson I have learned. I wouldn’t want to go through the hassle again. So my advise is that be extra careful when it comes to losing something valuable, something that cannot be bought with money and something that is priceless. It is better to be safe than sorry.
