Dear Dairy,

I was already tired and irritable when I got on the plane, the endlessly boring and unnecessarily stressful hours of waiting around the DC airport having taken its toll on me. So when I got off the plane, and the 100℉ heat smacked me rudely in the face, I knew it was going to be a long day. My mother harried me down the steps leading to the hot tarmac, and we piled onto an already-too-full bus-looking thing that they use to transport people to the further away planes. I think they’re called shuttle buses, but I could be wrong.

Anyway, someone stood on my toes and my suitcase would NOT stay still! By the time we got to the hotel, which was thankfully a very short walk from the Athens airport, I was ready for a cold shower. My mother then reminded me about the friends that had arrived a few days earlier, but it was an hour on the metro to get to their hotel, and at this point, my tired eyes were protesting loudly about the fact that they were still open. I took my stylish glasses off to rub my eyes and promptly told my mother of my intentions to shower and then collapse into bed. After I had done those things, and found a VERY comfortable-looking bathrobe, I promptly fell asleep on the bed, not even bothering to get under the covers.

Dear Diary,

it’s officially day 1 in Greece! I’m feeling much better, and today, we catch our flight to Leros with our friends. I’m so excited! I can’t wait to see the Greek islands, I’ve heard they look like mountain peaks rising out of the sea. I’ve got to go so we don’t miss our flight! I’ll add more later.

Dear Diary,

Well! What A day yesterday was! And today, really. I know I said I would write more later, but wait till you hear what happened. So, basically, our flight directly to Leros was cancelled, so we had to fly to this other tiny island and get a ferry to Leros. It took like, three hours or so, maybe two, to get to Leros on the ferry, and it wasn’t until 3 am that we actually went into the hotel. And, we had to get up at like, 8 am to do stuff that we had booked. It was ridiculous! Anyway, in the afternoon, we chilled at the pool, and you’ll never guess what. There was a hot, Greek waiter looking at me. I know, so exciting! I had been waiting ro spot a hottie, and here he was, staring at me! Anyway, that evening then, we went with our friends to the ice cream counter at the poolside sandwich bar, HE was the one serving the ice cream! It turns out his name is Antonio, but everyone calls him Tony. I think Antonio is hotter, but Tony is easier to remember. There was this other funny older guy called Daxi, and we all had a good laugh. I think I’m going to be dreaming about a certain hot waiter tonight!

Dear Diary,

Today was great. I was by the pool most of the day, because I couldn’t be bothered to walk into town, and Tony was literally looking at me every chance he got. My friend was constantly telling me when he was looking because I was too nervous to look at him myself. Then, in the evening again, we went over to the ice cream counter, and because I had been learning a little Greek, I tried to order my ice cream in Greek, but I messed up some of the pronunciations, but Tony helped me. I was trying to get the Cookies & Cream ice cream, but the older guy came over and tried to serve me everything OTHER than the Cookies & Cream! Once Tony finally gave me the right ice cream, Daxi kept saying ‘Where are the cookies in that?’ After that, because Daxi didn’t know my name, he called me Cookies.

Dear Diary,

OMG! Tony asked me out! He asked me if we could go dancing after his shift, but his shift didn’t end until midnight, and I knew I’d have to get up early the next morning, so at first I said no, and then he told me it would be at the bar he usually goes to, so then it was DEFINITELY a ‘no’. He realised that I didn’t drink and so he offered me a walk afterwards. I ended up sitting and talking with him until his shift ended anyway, so I figured a little walk wouldn’t hurt. But you’ll never believe what he did when we were walking along the beach. He kissed me! On the lips! And, he said this was his first time being with a girl romantically, and unfortunately for me, I was just as inexperienced. I wish there were boys like this back home. He’s so sweet and funny. Then we kissed again, and let me tell you in one word: It was HEAVENLY. Right, my mum is yelling at me to go to bed, seeing as it’s 2:30 am, so I’ll hopefully have more to share tomorrow!

Dear Diary,

We went for another walk this evening. Well, I should say tonight, because Tony’s shift doesn’t end until midnight, as I said before. I had ice cream, and while we were talking, Daxi asked me my name. I told him it was Anna, and he said ‘What a beautiful name’ but then Tony shook his head and said: ‘No, a beautiful GIRL.’ He then went on to say he could spend all day looking at me, and I don’t doubt it! I was also wearing a charming green and gold dress that I had bought in the nearest town. It was floaty and I couldn’t wear a bra with it because the back was open, but all my friends and my mother said that I really did look like a Greek goddess. I wonder if that’s why Tony asked me out again, although when I asked him about the dress, he said it was pretty, but it was the person who was in it that really made it beautiful. So we went for another walk on the beach and I think it would be against better judgement to put EVERYTHING we did in this little book, just in case it falls into the wrong hands. But let’s just say that in the morning, I had a bruise under my chin that I had to cover with concealer to make sure my mother didn’t ask questions.

Dear Diary,

Today I might die. It’s the last day of our holiday, and we’ve spent all morning travelling. I’m in the Athens Airport right now, having flown in from Leros this morning. I already miss Tony terribly and I fear that I might never see him again. I don’t think I will ever find a boy quite like him in America. We have to say goodbye to our friends as well, which makes today that much sadder for me. Sigh. This holiday has certainly been one to remember, but I can’t say that I’ll ever get over the people in it. I’m probably not going to see my friends again until another couple of years, and then there is, of course, the matter of Tony. Why does summer ever have to end?

Ha! 😅 Yes, this is the way I get a 'story' in when I haven't finished it. I'll update it with the real story soon.
