Christmas in California

I was waiting for my flight in the airport when suddenly disaster struck. I was just looking at all the shops when suddenly, I checked the time: "11:55 am". My flight takes off at noon. I ran to the flight gate when it was 11:59 am, just in time! I went on the plane and found my seat and just sat down casually. A few minutes later, it was lunchtime. I ordered a sandwich along with some peas, nobody ordered peas on this plane. I didn't even know why but I didn't question it. After a while, the flight attendants handed out the food. I pulled the tray table out and began eating. But there was this old man who was mean to the flight attendants saying: "Hey you, you better get my food for me now.". I just ignored him throughout the whole flight, I meant like I was just gonna cover my ears.

The captain said we would arrive in California at 5:00 am the next day. I just sat there waiting for the next meal, dinner. I ordered some pasta this time, I heard about this menu's delicious pasta online. Once again the flight attendants handed out all the food, I received my food and started eating. Then, the old man screamed out loud again saying: "Hey you lady, why do people get their food before me! I'm a very important person here!", and he turns out to be the mayor of a town in California that I was heading to. But why was he so angry all the time, that I was curious about. When I was finished, a flight attendant came and picked my trash. I checked my phone and saw the time: "7:00 pm", I kept my phone right after and just slept. In the middle of the night, I was suddenly woken up by an annoying voice, it was the old man again, or should I say the mayor.

In the morning, I woke up to the captain saying: "Passengers, we have arrived in California, please unbuckle your seatbelts and get ready to get off the plane with your luggage.". I unbuckle my seatbelt and got my luggage while I waited to get off the plane. After a short time, the door was opened and passengers were allowed to get off the plane. There were a lot of people ahead of me so I waited for my turn to get off the plane. I got off the plane and to the airport, I called a taxi and waited. Then finally when the taxi arrived, I asked the taxi driver to bring me to the hotel I registered. When I just stepped into the hotel, I saw it so plain without any Christmas decorations. But I didn't complain and just asked the receptionist for my hotel room key. I went up the stairs and found my room. I went into the room and it was very luxurious but I knew there was something odd about it, it didn't have any decorations either!

Well enough of the hotel situation, time to go shopping! I took the taxi to the nearest shopping center, I was very disappointed when I didn't see any decorations. Why does this whole shopping center doesn't even have a single Christmas light? It's so plain and boring. I just went to a restaurant and got some breakfast. Well, at least the food was good. After I was finished, I wanted to explore the rest of the shopping center, I meant the whole shopping center. I quickly realized that absolutely every shop didn't have any Christmas spirit. This might have to do with the "angry mayor" situation. I immediately asked someone where the mayor's office was, they said it was just down the street so I didn't have to take the taxi again. I got out of the shopping center and straight to the mayor's office. I convinced the guards to let me into the mayor's office.

After I got in, I heard the mayor saying: "I know my town villagers are healthy and good, but I just don't know how to make them happy.", I finally knew everything about this man. I stood up and said: "May I come in?", he surprisingly let me in. After I came in, he said: "What do you want now?", I just told him: "To make your fellow town villagers happy, you just have to let them celebrate Christmas, I know this because I saw that the whole town was missing the Christmas spirit. So you see, you just have to let them enjoy life, you don't have to be so strict towards them.", he accepted my advice. He told me his story of how he had gotten so strict: "Thank you, young woman, I would have never realized this if it weren't for you. Now, let me tell you a story of mine. Ever since I was a young child, I never got any love or attention from my parents. One day, my dad died from a car accident in this town from long ago. I was the only heir to be the mayor, so I became the mayor of this town at the age of nine. Ever since then, I decided to be strict towards the town villagers. And that's pretty much it of my past life.".

I told the mayor now we had to spread Christmas joy through the town. He said: "I think we need more help, let's ask all the villagers to gather and decorate the whole town.", I agreed to his decision. First, we went to get everyone to gather in the town square. Second, we told them the plan so everyone knows what to do. Third, we formed different groups of villagers. Forth, we gave each group a job to do. After a couple of days, the job was finally done, I was amazed by the now decorated town in California. I went back to the hotel and into my hotel room for the final night in California. The next morning, I waved goodbye to the receptionist and checked out of my hotel room. I met the mayor on the way to the airport and waved goodbye to him too. I finally reached the airport and I boarded the plane, "bye California!" I said in my heart and let's go back home!
