Snowed In- A love story.

Fauni, whose parents were old-fashioned, always made a big deal out of the yearly holidays. Fauni enjoyed being with his family for the holiday; however, he never understood the big deal and wondered why everyone was stressed at this time of year. Fauni, even when he was younger, never really liked the holidays, as his parents would make the biggest fuss over the littlest things. The idea of Santa Claus never made sense to him at all. When he was younger, he would sit and wonder how a big man could fly around the world and give presents to all the children worldwide. Fanui, as a child, was not like ordinary children as he would rather sit and read than be outside with his friends; he always wanted to travel all over the world and learn about all the cultures. As Fauni got older, he studied history, travel, and tourism in college. He became an instructor at a local college in his hometown in upstate New York. He loved the weather in New York; the snow was beautiful. However, he always traveled during the holidays to avoid all the fuss.

Fauni, a single male about five feet tall, brownish reddish hair balding on the back of his head and mush stash that curled at the ends, would start to plan his trip away for the holidays around early December and then return sometime in January.

It was December first, and Fauni was planning his trip to Hawaii; he was excited about this trip, especially since he had never been to Hawaii and was looking forward to seeing all the sights there. Fauni packed his bathing suit and some nice clothes to meet a beautiful woman there. Fauni always enjoyed looking at the women but was very shy and would never think of approaching a woman that he thought was beautiful.

Fauni sat down and turned on the news after packing for his trip. The flight out for his trip was scheduled for the evening of December second. The news stated a snowstorm was on the way. Fauni was not initially worried about the storm as he looked out the window; no snow was in sight, so he tucked himself in for the night, setting his alarm for five o'clock am.

Fauni woke up to his alarm blaring Christmas music, which he disliked the most, reminding him of the upcoming holiday. Fauni woke up and looked out the window at the snow." Guess it did snow," Fauni said as he got up and made breakfast. Fauni ate his breakfast and then dressed to prepare for his vacation. Excited, he walked out the door to a massive snowstorm and heard on the news that all flights were canceled. "Oh No!!" Fauni said, "My trip! My Trip to Hawaii, I've been looking forward to this trip all year long." Fauni sat in his chair with his head in his hands, crying, wondering what to do next.

Fauni then got up and looked out the window, seeing snowflakes falling; there were about three feet of snow outside, so he had no choice but to cancel his trip and spend the holiday home." Oh My, what am I supposed to do now that I am stuck at home for the holiday?" Fauni wondered. Fauni got on his phone and canceled his hotel room and other plans.

Fauni then went into his kitchen and made dinner; steak with potatoes and carrots was his favorite meal. He turns on the television and watches the news, disgusted by the snowstorm. Fauni pouted and mumbled, "Why now have this snowstorm?" as he looked out the window, where approximately two feet of snow were piling onto his driveway. Fauni dozed off into a deep sleep while watching the snow fall outside.

Fauni woke up to a strange noise outside his little house. His house is small, with one bedroom, a bathroom, a kitchen, and a living room. His house was more like a cabin in the middle of the woods, where he would not be bothered by any neighbors. "What is that strange noise?" Fauni wondered. As he looked out the window in his living room, pulling the curtains back, someone on a snowmobile was pulling up into his long driveway. He opened the door; to his surprise, there was this woman, "Hello??" Fauni said gruffly, "What do you want?" he asked. She said, "Hello, my name is Mekna; I am lost. Can I use your phone, please?" Mekna asked in a sweet, angelic voice. "Of course!" Fauni said, "Here is the phone." He looked up and smiled. "what is wrong?" Fauni asked Mekna. "The phone is not working." She cried with tears down his cheek. "The snow must have knocked out the phone lines." Grumbled Fauni. "would you like a drink?" He asked Mekna as he wiped the tears off her cheek. "take a seat and relax," he said to Menka as he patted the couch's cushion. The sofa was only big enough for them, so he sat beside her and asked her if she was warm enough. "Yes, I'm warm enough."

She said Mekna as she smiled at Fauni. "What are you smiling at?" asked Mekna in a curious voice. "Nothing, Mekna, just looking at you," smirked Fauni. "Just that it has been a long time since I have had any company, and I am enjoying your company, Mekna," Fauni said to her. "That's good," Mekna said to Fauni with a giggle. Fauni rarely liked having people around; conversation never came easy. Fauni was awkward around Mekna; however, Mekna was not very social as she was an only child and was often kept in her room by her parents. Mekna was a timid girl with reddish hair and wore it in a side ponytail; she had freckles around her nose that Fauni was fond of. The two spent the entire night discussing how they hated the holidays and how everyone makes a big fuss during this time of year. They agreed that the holidays were overrated and that people should be grateful for all the time they have and spend more time with their families during the year and not just during holidays.

It was getting late, and Fauni and Mekna were starting to fall asleep watching the snowfall. Fauni offered her to stay the night, and she accepted the offer. As he let her have the bed, he tucked her in and said, "Good night." with a kiss, she smiled slightly. "I think I like you, Fauni," she giggled. "I like you too, Mekna; good night," He said and went downstairs back to the sofa.

Morning came, and the snow had finally stopped. Fauni made breakfast and did not want to wake Mekna, so he was reticent. The snow was a beautiful sight as it was as high as the mailboxes. Mekna had woken up and saw that Fauni had made her some breakfast and that the snow had finally stopped. Excited to sit down for breakfast, she thanked Fauni with a kiss on the cheek. "that's so sweet of you to make breakfast, thank you." She said to Fauni. After eating, they went outside to look at the snow. "Boy, the snow is beautiful, " they both laughed. Then, a snowball fight happened, and that was when they knew they were right for each other.

Mekna stayed there for a few more nights, as they got to know each other better through small talk and some fun games. The roads were finally passable, and they could get out of the long driveway; they detoured the grocery store and brought food to cook meals together as they had decided. Fauni decided that he still wanted to go to Hawii and then asked Mekna if she wanted to go to Hawii with him. "of course, I would go to Hawii with you, Fauni." She said, laughing.

Fauni booked the trip to Hawaii for him and Mekna; without being grateful for this record-breaking snowstorm, he would not have met this beautiful girl he had fallen in love with. It has been a long time since Fauni was happy, and for some reason, Mekna was put into his life to teach him a lesson. While in Hawaii, Fauni asked Mekna if she wanted to be his wife, and she said yes happily. Fauni and Mekna are both happy they met due to the snowstorm, and they talk about it all the time and how they met mysteriously due to the storm; if it were not for that snowstorm, they would not know where they would be. They remember that day and smile whenever it snows, thanking Mother Nature for bringing them love and teaching them how to love again.
