The rain was falling heavily on the foggy window, and the wind was blowing dangerously. The sky was getting darker and darker by the minute. Meanwhile, a little girl named Amelia was in her cottage with her grandfather. Her grandfather appeared to be sweet and innocent, but Amelia soon discovered that things were not as they seemed. Amelia’s parents died when she was two years old. She vividly remembers it. Her parents left her with her babysitter and told her they would be at her grandparents’ house. Thirty minutes later, she found out that her parents had been brutally murdered in a dark alley. The minute she heard the news, she started bawling on the floor while her babysitter assured her. Amelia had to go live with her grandparents. Soon after, her grandmother was murdered as well. Over time, Amelia became suspicious of the cottage she lived in and of her grandfather. In the night, she would hear spine-chilling screams and the distinct, metallic smell of blood. Whenever she consults her grandfather, he scolds her about going into the attic, even though she keeps saying she never went into it. She tells her friends about it, but they never believe her. Instead, they tease her and call her delusional, which makes her feel upset. Even her grandfather, who is usually kind, would shout at her whenever she tries to confide in him. Feeling frustrated and alone, Amelia decides to take action and find out why these strange things keep happening. She spends hours researching and reading books about paranormal activities, but nothing seems to help. Finally, she comes up with a plan: she will search the attic to see if there is anything unusual up there. One day, when her grandfather goes out for his weekly grocery shopping, Amelia took the opportunity to search for the attic. She wanders around the house, opening doors and climbing stairs, but she can’t seem to find it. She is about to give up when she remembers something her grandfather once said to her grandmother before she died: “The attic is hidden behind a secret door.” With renewed determination, Amelia started looking for the secret door. She checks every wall, every corner, and every piece of furniture in the house until she finally finds it. She pulls the lever, and the door creaks open, revealing a dark and dusty staircase leading up to the attic. To her horror, she finds a picture of her grandfather holding a knife to her mother in a dark alley with her dad tied to a chair. I screamed with horror as the metallic smell of blood rushed into my nose. All of a sudden the body she was looking at started moving. A sudden honk from my grandfather’s car startled me amidst the horrifying smell of blood and the body moving. I scampered out of the attic, went into the bathroom, and turned on the water, so it seemed like I was taking a bath. To my dismay, a few minutes later, I emerged from the bathroom and found my furious grandfather sitting on my bed, staring at me intently. He started questioning me,each question with fury. “Why is the attic door slightly opened?” he demanded. He said in a very low voice so I had to make up a lie. “There was someone moving up there and trying to break the door. I was very scared so I hid in the bathroom. The thing that was up there must have opened it slightly.” Her grandfather's face turned white as she told him the story. Her grandfather stayed silent for a moment and then told her to go outside and don’t come back until she told him to. So Amelia obeyed him and went outside onto the porch. When she heard her grandfather's footsteps going into the attic she went inside the house and sat on the couch trying to listen to what her grandfather was doing. She sat in silence for a few minutes until she heard a mind piercing scream coming from the attic. Her face turned white as she listened to the scream. The metallic smell of blood soon filled up the house and it was getting very hard to breathe. She ran out of the house as fast as she could and ran onto the porch. She sat there in fear thinking why her grandfather did this. Her grandfather came out of the house covered with blood and told her to get inside. Amelia stood up trembling and her grandfather assured her and told her that he killed a rat in the attic. The grandfather soon tucked Amelia into bed. She stayed up all night and thought about how she would expose him.She then came up with a plan. At school she went up to her school counselor. She told the counselor about her grandfather and he said that he would report to the police. A week later her counselor said that the police can’t investigate unless she has evidence. So another evening when her grandfather went out for dinner she went inside the attic again, this time with a bag. It was the same as last time but with more blood. Amelia looked at it with disgust. She saw the photograph of her grandfather capturing her parents. She went further into the attic and found other things. She found a machete, a gun, and other torture devices. “This is enough evidence,” she muttered to herself. She gathered all of the evidence and exited the attic. Just as she exited the attic she met herself with her grandfather looking at her with a deadly look. “What did I tell you about going through the attic?” he said in a low voice. Amelia stayed silent. “Since you have decided not to obey me, you will end up like those dead bodies.” he said while pulling out a knife. As he was trying to strike her she dodge the attack and took her backpack with her belongings and evidence she ran out of the house and ran to the nearest police station. Amelia presented the evidence to the police officers, who immediately dispatched 10 officers and cars to the house. The grandfather tried to escape but Amelia pinned him down to the ground while the other police officers handcuffed him. The grandfather was taken into custody by three officers and Amelia was taken to an orphanage by other officers. The orphanage staff found a relative of Amelia, who turned out to be her mother's sister, with whom she had lost touch over the years. The relative offered to take Amelia in and she happily accepted. They now live together in a comfortable house and enjoy their lives.
