The world has always seemed so dark in her eyes. There has never been that light to guide her, honestly the whole notion of one made her want to puke. It’s so cheesy. She’s not into romance really and she doesn’t want to date. She prefers to write, poetry and stories. She likes to read about people falling for each other and wish she understood the appeal but she doesn’t. That’s just how it was in her world. She knows it doesn’t make her broken and there’s nothing wrong with that fact but the world is full of romance and makes you believe that one day you’ll meet someone to get you there. This, however, was not that kind of story. She won’t get the girl and won’t fall. Not now, not ever. Cupid seems to have forgotten her name. Or maybe his bow broke. Whatever the reason there isn’t an arrow with her name on it just waiting to be shot.
She’s walking down a busy street and almost knocks someone over “Oh my god! I’m so sorry!” she exclaims. The other person, a woman around her age, smiles. She shakes her head and stands up “It happens all the time, don’t worry about it.” she laughs. The two walk together for a bit after realizing they have to go the same way, turns out they’re both going to the same cafe. Coincidence. They decide to sit together. “Oh, I never introduced myself! I was too busy knocking you to the floor I guess.” she jokes “I’m Bridget.” the other woman smiles and gives a soft laugh in reply. Bridget gives a confused look so she says “Sorry, that’s just such a basic name for such an interesting person to have.” Bridget giggles “I’m Seren. People call me ‘Star’ a lot since that’s the meaning, which is cute but boring.” Bridget laughs again but she isn’t sure why. Seren seems like a cool friend to have she thinks to herself.
I know where everyone thinks this is going so let me make myself perfectly clear, this is not that kind of story. No one is going to fall for the other. Okay? Bridget is walking home now, holding a piece of paper in her hand. She has a wide smile on her face even as she steps in front of her doorstep. Home. Not really. Her house. Her parents are those people who believe and romance and they’re very excited for Valentine's Day (their favorite holiday). If you didn’t know any better you’d think they invented it. She walks inside and they immediately grow a large grin, it’s kind of creepy. Like their mouths are sewn in that position. They try to be good parents but all they do is make her feel worse. She loves them both of course but it’s just too much.
She steps into the house and it looks like Cupid vomited all over it. They both smile and run up to her. She hugs them, greets them, all that, and heads into her room to escape. Her room is darker than the rest of the house, not that that’s hard. Her walls are painted White and light blue to match her split-dyed hair. She finally unfolds the piece of paper and types the number on it into her phone. Seren responds almost immediately which is surprising for Bridget, she’s not used to people being this interested in her. No one has ever really cared, they just avoid her.
SEREN
Hey! How are you doing?
BRIDGET
Eh. I’m ok. My dads are going nuts
with Valentine's Day per usual.
SEREN
Not a fan?
Personally I like Valentine’s Day
BRIDGET
Respectfully disagree

You’re no fun 😭

ICED black coffee!
Bridget smiles and turns off her phone. She hears her dads calling her. They’re both very different from her in more ways than one which we’ve covered but they’re also pretty different from each other. Mark dresses in all black usually and he works a normal office job, Liam works as a therapist and is very bright and cartoony. Bridget thinks that’s what makes them such a good couple.
Bridget analysis:
- Bridget herself is fairly thin and has extremely pale skin. Her eyes are bright green like an emerald and we’ve already described m- HER hair. She likes to wear corset tops and things decorated with art like Starry Night, she also wears ripped black jeans, a black hoodie, and fishnet gloves. She’s never been huge on accessories but she does like to wear belt chains as well.
- Seren is chubby and a couple of inches shorter than Bridget, she has black hair like a raven but her bangs are white as a dove. Her eyes are brown but the sun makes them gold, she wears all black and has a gothic sense of style. She was wearing multiple necklaces but the one that caught Birdget’s eye was a cross necklace with red gems sparkling it like rubies. Her sepia skin was soft but cold which matched her personality perfectly. She wore a lot of pins, a raven, the aroace pride flag, a band Bridget had never heard of, movies, “she/they”, Kuromi, etc.
They’re pretty similar in a lot of ways but they are also very different. That analysis was useless. Bridget falls back onto her bed. *ding*

We should hang out again
This was so weird. Bridget knew that this wasn’t anything romantic, she knew she was unable to feel that about anyone but platonic feelings had never been this strong for her before. What if it was romantic? She thought and thought about it doing as much research as she could. How could she fall for someone for the first time EVER at 19? That’s not normal. It can’t be romantic, if it is that means her life is a complete lie which is terrifying. Eventually, during her search, she lands a term called “queerplatonic” which intrigues her though she doesn’t know why. A kind of relationship that aren’t explicitly just romantic or just platonic in nature. Oh.
BRIDGET
I’d like that a lot.
