Three teens stood outside the mansion, it had been abandoned for ten years now and no one was willing to buy it, but no one knew why. One of the boys walked over to the for sale sign that seemed to be replaced recently, the house never seemed to get anything replaced besides this sign.
The boy kicked the sign down before glancing back at the girl holding a bag, he watched her reach into her bag before bringing out three flashlights and holding it out to him and the other boy. Each boy reached out before grasping the lights and flickering them on.
They began to walk towards the mansion that seemed so out of place from the rest of the town, but yet the town had been built around the old gray mansion.
“What are we thinking?” the girl asked as she gestured to the mansion.
The boys knew what she was referring to, but didn’t answer as they made their way to the door, one of the boys reaching out to handle, but unsurprisingly finding it locked. The girl shrugged before making her way away from the door and to one of the windows, the boys watched her bringing her arm back that was holding the flashlight.
The light spun around before it made contact with the window glass, watching it shatter open, the shattering sound and light hitting the ground inside echoed.
She gestured her hands to the window, before the boys rolled their eyes and met her over next to the window.
“That was unnecessary, we could have found another way in” one of the boys remarked.
“I think it was completely necessary, besides who cares” the other boy said before kneeling down under the window and holding his hands out, the other boy rolled his eyes before copying the other.
They looked over to the girl who used her hand to steady herself on their shoulders before stepping onto their hands, before lifting her up to the window seal. They watched her swing her bag inside and then pull herself over and slip inside before hearing feet begin to shuffle.
They looked up to the window before hearing clicking sounds, they looked over to the door, seeing her head poke out with a smile, “come on in boys, its real dusty” she demonstrated by coughing dramatically.
They both made their way to the door, watching her step back to allow them to walk in, both of their heads turned as they eyed the walk in. The dust in the air danced around their flashlights, a long staircase in front of them that led to an upstairs and a crystal chandelier rested above their heads. Both boys stood still as they took in the sight.
The door slammed behind them, both jumping, and one screaming, both heads snapping to the door, to see their giggling companion, “your faces! Oh I wish I had that on camera!” she said through a fit of laughter.
Both boys glaring at her before ignoring her to look back at the dusty place, “you know I heard some stories as to why this place hasn't been bought in ten years” the girl finally said as she calmed down from her laughter.
She walked closer to the boys before walking past them to the stairs, they watched her test a step before walking up a couple and looked around, her cracked flash light flickering around.
“And what stories?” one of the boys asked, glancing up the stairs before following her.
“Don’t get her started” the other boy Scolded before following his other companions up the stairs.
They heard her giggle before continuing, “well, one of the stories I heard was because of a young girl who killed herself, you want to know why she did?” she teased looking at her comrades faces, her flash light lighting up their expressions.
One of the boys looked bored or irritated, while the other grimaced at her words, she didn’t wait for them to reply before answering, “it was because she had fallen in love with boy, but they had not been allowed to marry, and they had tried running away together multiple times, but something always went wrong…” she said walking up a few more steps before tripping backwards, trying to catch herself on the railing, only for her grip to slip.
The boys reached out to catch her at the last moment, the air went still and the only sound could be heard from their panic breaths slowing down. The girl quickly fixed herself before laughing, “maybe pay attention to where you're going instead of trying to scare us” one of the boys stated before walking past her.
“I’m not trying to scare you, just inform you! It's your fault if you get scarred” she argued while the others rolled their eyes.
“Now like I said, something always went wrong, until one night they decided that if they couldn't be together in life, they would be together in death, they decided to drink poison and when they had gone to drink, the girl watched the boy dump it out after she already drank hers. They say he cried holding her and saying sorry to her corpse because he didn’t want to die, while she died thinking he didn’t love her enough to die” she finished as they reached the top of the stairs.
“That’s depressing,” one of the boys muttered before reaching the top.
The girl only shrugged before following the boy in front of her down a hall,
“So maybe the girl haunts these walls and that's why it hasn't been sold?” the girl asked, but not getting a verbal response.
The boys only shook their heads before stopping in front of a door, it wasn't locked thankfully. The threes stepped into a room, it still had furniture and old belongings scattered around and covered in blankets of dust.
The three walked around the room before splitting off and looking around, the girl stopping in front of a doll. It was a decent sized doll, it had glass skin and golden locks, with an old white dress with frills at the end, but it had no eyes… she glanced at the other before the girl reached out towards the doll. Her hand drew closer to the doll before watching a spider crawl out of its socket.
She flinched backwards away from the doll before preparing to tell the boys what happened before hearing the door slam, she jumped before whipping her head to the other two who only stared back at her. Neither had been next to the door. One of the boys marched over to the door and opened it without any trouble, “probably because it’s so old” the other boy commented watching the girl walk over to the other boy and glance out into the hall.
The three made their way out before the girl spoke again, “the other story I heard was about a man who went mad and killed his whole family” she said before switching the flickering flashlight to her other hand.
Neither boy spoke, knowing they couldn't stop her from telling them, “no one knew why the man had gone mad, but they say the man had been found in his office holding a picture of his family while their bodies rested around him on the floor and their blood soaking the floors….. But that's all I remember from that one” she chuckled before they stopped in front of a pair of doors.
One of the boys swung the doors open to reveal an office, “oh great..” the other boy leered, before both glared at her.
“Oh how was I supposed to know?! I didn’t choose this room, you did!” she defended before walking in, “besides it might not even be true…” she muttered before shuffling back closer to the boys.
They split up before and walked around the room, one of the boys walked towards a fireplace with dusty and rusty items on top, “don’t you think it's strange all the stuff is still here?” he asked, glancing back at the other two.
“Yeah… I do” the girl said while the other boy shrugged, seeming indifferent to it all. He looked back to the items on the fireplace and picked one up, it was snow globe, with a small city inside, he rubbed it against his shirt to get rid of the dust.
He peered closer to it before jumping as he felt a hand on his wrist, he wiped his head over to see her laughing again at him, “you're so jumpy” she teased before going to grab the glob.
He let her grab it, and watched her peer into the glob before setting it back in his hands, but it felt sticky, bright it light up to it, to see blood smeared on the glass. He dropped the globe and jumped back, yelling out slightly before rushing away to the other boy who quickly came over.
“What's wrong!? The other boy asked, looking at the boy and then the girl, “I don’t know! he freaked out and dropped it!” she yelled back feeling panicked at the boy's own yelling.
The boy took a deep breath before asking again, “what happened?” he firmly, yet softly asked, only to resolve a shrug from her, his eyes then looked over to the other boy, who began to stutter out “it had blood all over it and it was sticky and warm!” he gasped out.
He looked between the boy and girl, shining his light over the broken globe to see the red stains on the glass, before catching the girl moving her arms behind her back. He reaches his own hand out before grabbing her arm and bringing it into the light.
Her palms were slashed open and still bleeding, “what happened?” he asked calmly watching her try and twist her hand out of his frim grip, “did you cut yourself on the window glass when he got in” he stated more then asked, he glanced up to see her nod slightly.
He brought the boy and bleeding girl over to the desk before grabbing the girl bag and grabbing a small tin case. Grabbing out some alcohol wipes and wrap, and handing some over to the other boy who grabbed the girl's other hand.
“Why didn’t you say anything, you scared the crap out of me” the boy hissed out, the girl chuckled “I hope you brought a spare pair of pants then” she teased.
“Ow!” she yelled trying to pull her hand away from him as he brought the wipe to her hand.
“You totally deserve that” the boy mumbled out with a smirk, before glancing at the other boy who was working on her other hand.
“We should call it a night and head back” the other boy calmly stated as he began to wrap up her hand.
“No! That's why I didn’t say anything, we’ve been planning this for months! We have to stay!” she begged as she looked over at him, only for him to shake his head, she then looked over to the other.
“Come on, just a few more rooms! And then we can go! I know you want to stay longer!” she pleaded, trying to get him to look her in the eyes.
He finally looked her in the eyes before sighing, “maybe one more room? But only if you promise no more scary stories!” he added before glancing at the other boy.
The boy finally looked up from her hand at the boy and girl, and sighed, “fine, one more room and then we leave” the boy reluctantly sated.
They finished wrapping her hands up and walked out of the office, making their way down the hall before stopping in front of a door that was already slightly cracked, “can I please just say one more story?” the girl pleaded as they opened the door.
“No, that's part of the deal” the boy stated before looking inside, it was smaller and held very few items of furniture compared to the other rooms and the ones it did hold were covered in white sheets.
“I heard a story” the other boy started stopping the other two from starting a fight, “about a witch that cursed the land this house had been built on, a curse that would lead the former owners into madness and kill themselves” boy said coldly causing the other two to stop looking around the room and watch him instead.
“The curse was said to make their worst fears and nightmares come true when they woke up. One night one of the children had a dream about his brother's lifeless body being dragged across the ground leaving a trail of blood. This dream plagued the boys mind for years and drove the boy mad until one night he couldn't wait any longer for the dream to come true and killed his brother himself and it wasn't until he realized after dumping the body in a hole that he was the only reason the dream came true” he said coldly, before turning to see the other two staring at him.
The girl's face was pale before she cleared her throat and chuckled, “well I think my stories were better anyway” she murmured, before grabbing one of the sheets and pulling down, it was an old clock still ticking.
She tapped at the clock before glancing back at the others, “I hate scary stories” the other boy croaked out before glancing at the clock himself.
The other boy walked next up to the two of them before nudging the base of the clock's legs with his foot and watching it shake, the clock began to sway slightly before stopping along with the ticking.
The three walked out of the room, the girl whining as they made their way out of the room, begging to keep looking around. The other two dragged her down the stairs, the flash light catching the blood on the railing before making their way to the bottom of the stairs and out the door.
They walked until they made their way to the for sale sign still resting on the ground.
“What are we thinking?” the girl asked again.
Both boys shrugged before leaving the mansion behind.
