Listen to the falling snow

This story contains sensitive content

It takes a few seconds to realize I am utterly and completely lost.

What had I been living for, up until now?

A speck of snow drifts from the sky, before melting against my warm cheek.

It’s beautiful.

If only I had realized it sooner.

Hatred seeps from my heart and trails down to mingle with my blood in the snow.

My breath rises in clouds, stretching up to the bone white sky.

The world feels so wonderful.

How could anyone hate a place like this?

A crow swoops down, pecking at my open rib cage, but my pain is mute. I let him continue his feast.

Everything must find some way to survive.

The deafening sounds of war rage around me.

Stop. I wish to say. Stop and listen to the falling snow. But my tongue is too heavy to lift.
