The beach was warm and the sun was out he had a book in his hand but he wasn't reading it. Everything seemed a little bland at the moment but when he met her and everything was different from then on out. Blonde roots with a caramel brown hair such beauty should never be tied up but there she was with her long hair ties up in a yellow scrunchie with polka dots. She had rose gold headphones in he didn't not knowing what she was listening to but she seemed to love it, it looked as if she was gonna stand up and start dancing at any moment. All of a sudden she looks back at him and yet he keeps his eyes locked onto her she smiles and takes her headphones off. Then he snaps back to reality. Everything he just saw was just a memory one which he wishes he could live over and over again.

She's a well-known author and he's the CEO of a company that publishes books it a miracle that they haven't met again but soon they mend their roots.

Just imagine how much time they spent together they had lunch together and never went to bed without saying goodnight. They were a package deal, side by side for a long time. But as everyone knows people drift apart and sometimes forget they bond they had and don't even know that it's still there.

He works day and night because there's no reason he needs to go home he lives alone anyways. He has no pets and his family lives across the country he never had any type of romantic relationship after she left his life.

She is married but for some reason feels an empty void in her life that her husband fails to fill. She thinks about that day on the beach where she caught him staring at her. she didn't seem to mind because he seemed to be lost and she found it funny, she saw the book in his hand, Frankenstein she thought. She loved that book she looked at it then back at him.

"Do you like it?" she asked him, he snapped out of his daze quicker than a jackrabbit running from a fox.

"Oh, um... somewhat it's a little deep in my opinion," he replied with a nervous tone in his voice "It's more about how the humans are more of monsters than Frankenstein."

"That's kind of the point don't you think?" she says and she scoots closer to him.

He smiles and shakes his head "Not really." she starts to notice the Britsh-American accent in his voice.

She looks at him with a confused face "Why not?" she says

He then looks around and leans close to her and whispers "Because Frankenstein IS the monster"

She giggles then attacks with her debating question "What did he do for people to assume that he's a monster?"

He looks at her speechless he has no comeback he looks down and she hears a small laugh " Your pretty clever for someone asks a lot of questions''

She looks at him deep into his eyes and says " I know," he laughs, she loved his laugh from that moment on " but your pretty opinionated for a guy who reads Mary Shelley," she says picking up the book.

She remembers everything like it was yesterday from the day on the beach to the day she left for school and he left for his job. She misses his laugh which wasn't as deep as his normal voice but not too high. And when he read to her his voice was calm it made you want to go to sleep but he was so deep into the book saying every word with an emotion you just wanted to stay awake. His eyes were the perfect sunset brown with a hint of caramel and she could stare into them all day and night. At the moment she was finally remembering his face her husband walks in with the phone "It's for you" he whispers, she nods and stands up to go grab the phone "Thank you" she says to him grabs the phone and leaves the room. Once she is in a room where her husband isn't she closes the door and holds the phone to her ear.

"Hello?" she says into the phone.

"Yes. Hello, this is Timothy Pierce CEO of Brilliant Books in New York speaking. Is this Alicia Crane I'm speaking too?''

She can't believe what she is hearing but sets it aside and says " Yes this is she."

On the other line, Timothy's heart is racing but must set his feelings aside and focus on the call "Well, Mrs. Crane, my company wants to publish your work world-wide but we were wondering if you'd like to come to New York to take a glimpse of what we do here first?"

" Oh, yes I'd like that very much." she quickly replies.

He enters nods and types it into his computer "Ok great well I do look forward to meeting you call this number when you are ready to set a time and date."

"Yes of course and before you go Mr.Pierce I have a question?" Alicia says.

Timothy is nervous but replies with " Yes, ma'am what is your question?"

Alicia takes a deep breath " Did you ever finish Frankenstein?''

Timothy smiles and laughs while Alicia was hoping that's just what she'd hear.

"Yes, I did actually," Timothy says into the phone unable to keep a serious face.

"Good!" Alicia with a happy tone in her voice

"Well, I do look forward to meeting you again Alicia," Timothy says looking down at his feet

Alicia smiles "As do I," she says quietly

They both say good-bye and hang up the phone. Alicia thinks about how her husband might react to him and their friendly behavior. At that moment her husband walks in and grabs her by the face noticing her red color. He pushes her to the wall "Who was on the phone?" He asked, obviously getting angrier and angrier by the second, Alicia slips from between him and the wall not answering his question. Alicia walks to the bedroom pulling out her suitcase from beneath the bed and grabbing clothes from the closet her husband walks in furious and grabs her by the arm, " WHO WAS IT?" he yells in her face. Alicia looks at him and yanks her arm from his grip "Nobody important Barry" she mutters and grabs more clothes from the closet he looks at the suitcase "Where are you going?" she doesn't answer he grabs her by the hair with one hand and presses the other around her neck "When I speak to you, you answer me ok? Now where are you going?" he whispers to her Alicia starts to cry. He starts to get annoyed he uses the hand around her neck to wipe her tears she gasps for air "I'm going to visit my Mom in Cali," Barry releases his grip from her hair and slightly pushes her away Alicia looks at him up and down "Alone." Barry looks at Alicia and scoffs, "I'm going to the store to get some essentials, have everything ready to go by the time I'm back" Barry says to her Alicia nods. Barry leaves the room and once Alicia hears the car leave she quickly purchases a plane ticket for New York and finishes packing her clothes by the time she's done packing she has two bags and a suitcase she grabs the keys to her car and drives to a hotel 7 miles away so she can stay there until she leaves for New York.

When Barry gets home he yells for Alicia to get the bags and head to the car but he doesn't hear an answer. Barry checks all the rooms and doesn't find her but once he checks the garage he notices that her car is gone. He becomes furious at the idea that she has left him and taken her stuff with her but doesn't plan on letting her get too far.

I'm sorry I'm a bit confused at the climax, so she escaped from him? She will ever make to newyork 🤔. Some questions feels unanswered. But it's a good write up. I liked the way wrote the scenes!

That's a good question and I do apologize for leaving you to feel as if you have questions that are unanswered. I love leaving my readers wanting more by leaving a cliff hanger and I think of them as a good way for the readers to make there own endings and making inferences based on the information they have. Yes, she will make it to New York and eventually escape; If you have any more questions please let me know.
