Finally. After working relentlessly for the whole week, I finally could rest. My only plan today is to sleep and watch movies. No work, no distractions, just me and my empty apartment. I started my day with an easy breakfast and went straight to the movies I rented.
Halfway through the first movie, my doorbell rang making me groan in annoyance and fear that someone is gonna disturb my plan. With cautious, I walked to the door. Seeing as I haven't invited anyone or expecting anyone, this person could be dangerous.
A sigh escaped from my lips when I saw from the peephole that it was my bestfriend. "What are you doing here?" She smiled brightly at me and showed me a coupon. A bookstore coupon.
Before she had the chance to say anything, I cut her off. "I'm not going. This is my day off. I wanted to stay inside." Her face saddened and I almost agreed right then and there. She has a talent of making me melt with those puppy eyes.
"But you like books. This is our chance." That's not wrong. We both love books but the difference between us is she likes to go to the bookstore unlike me who usually just buy books online. Her puppy eyes almost made me gave in but I stood my ground.
"What if we keep that coupon for another day and you join me watch movies instead?" She just shook her head and pointed to the date on the piece of paper. I sighed when I saw that today is the last day for it.
"Come on, Aden. I'll buy you coffee." I rolled my eyes playfully and told her to wait for me to get ready. I knew that I was gonna cave in the moment she pulled out the puppy eyes. After throwing on a shirt and a pair of jeans, I went out to find Brooke eating my breakfast.
She noticed me and grinned. "I was hungry." I chuckled and said, "You owe me breakfast too now." She just shrugged and dragged me by hand towards the door. I barely able to turn the lights off with her speed.
We arrived at the crowded bookstore and I already felt my social battery draining. I could see how excited Brooke is before she ran into the store. A chuckle went past my lips and I followed her steps minus the running.
A couple hours went by and I finished picking books I wanted to buy. I found Brooke walking towards me with a cheeky smile and arms full of books I wasn't even sure how she carried it. We paid our books and headed to a restaurant nearby.
"See. I told you it was worth it." Her smile made it more worth it in my opinion but I just agreed with her. I reminded her about what I said when we were in the car. I was just out to accompany her and then straight to home. She ignored me and continued eating.
We talked about our week and she told me about the drama in her office and I told her about the drama in mine.
Brooke insisted on paying for our meal and continued to drag me out and towards a shop. I started to shake my head but she started nodding instead.
"You need new clothes. Come on. My treat." Before I get the chance to decline her offer, she ran inside the shop. I just smiled and followed her lead and letting her pick clothes and paying them for me.
Suddenly her eyes went big and she ran towards an arcade while still holding my hand. She went straight for the basketball game and hopped excitedly. I laughed at her childish manner and went to buy some tokens. We battled each other for quite some time. Brooke think she won but the scores said otherwise.
Shaking my head, I just agreed with her while following to the next game and the next and the next. By the time we went through the third pile of tokens, my feet were tired and I offered that we finish up.
"Ooh by the way, there's a new movie that came out today. Horror movie." Even though I am obsessed with horror movies, I am also in desperate need to go home and lay down. I was about to say no but she already pulled out the puppy eyes and I gave in.
"Fine. But after that, we'll go straight back, okay." She thought about it for a second and nodded. We went to the cinema and somehow she managed to drag me not to one movie but three. By the end of the third movie my eyes were drooping and on the verge to drop on the aisle and fall asleep.
"Can we go home now?" I don't know if it was my question or my face that made her face different but she smiled sweetly and said, "Let's get something for dinner first. We don't even have to eat there, we could take out."
I was surprised that it was even dinner time. With a shrug, I followed her to our favorite place and ordered some food to take out. We arrived home and she made me sit through dinner before letting me go to sleep. The meal was good but my eyes were barely open the whole time.
I couldn’t help the sleep that was urging me to go to the bed and Brooke smiled at my sleepy face. We threw out the trash and she took some leftover for herself. Seeing my face, she chuckled lightly before helping me to my bed.
"Goodnight, Aden. I had fun today." We said our goodbyes and she went out to her home hopefully. I too had fun today but I still need my rest and I intend to spend it with sleep. My plan may have changed a little through out the day but I liked spending the day with Brooke knowing we haven’t hung out in a long time.
