Black Fiction Teens & Young Adult

Chapter one

Alright dear, i will be coming with my Lil sis. I froze immediately after hearing this statement, me follow Ann to where, probably not me. Ann is my elder sister with just 4 years gap in between us, Just because the gap aren't just much, but she acts like the 4 years worth a century with her bossy character. Yet with this bossy attitude of hers we are still the best friends in the house being the only two girls in the house, while my other siblings are all male. Let's not get much into introduction, back to my Narration.

I got lots I thoughts in my skull then. I gave her a questioning look but she seems unconcerned, i could have just talked directly with no hesitation but she is still on call with Rose, her unis best friend. Yes, I know that Rose's birthday is in a week time but why would Annie decided to take me along, she knows I don't like going to parties. I couldn't hold back my anxiety to know who she is referring too. She hung up the call after seeing me look like someone who is going to burst out if she doesn't say her mind, well I don't care, it's her opinion anyway. I just have to ask.

So what puppet? She asked mockingly. Nothing much, i just hope you are not insinuating that I am following you to Rose's birthday party. Well, that's just the perfect meaning of what I meant, she snaps her finger at me. I gasp for air like someone who lost her breath immediately after hearing her statement. I can't go to the party, you know I don't like partying, I mean... , you are afraid, she cuts in.. Yes I ..., not allowing me to finish up my statement she cuts in again, that someone is going to eat you up or bury you alive. Look, you are a teenager, You need to socialize, you can't just stay home pressing your phone and think that's enough. You need to meet new people, make new friends. Now I see the seriousness in her voice, she also looks much serious than she used to, but not after she caught it up with humor and saying, I am now pretty sure of the reason why don't have a boyfriend. She laughed off and went to the room. I laughed also but that wasn't much of a joke.I mean, at 17 I don't have a boyfriend nor a toaster but I want my study first, I would have a boyfriend when time calls for. My friends kept on telling me that I don't look social and I act like those who lived in the 60s. They also call me a loner but I don't care about it that much.

I am left with no other option now but to accept to go with her, not because of a reason of meeting a new friend or a boyfriend but just because I want to also brag to my friends at school about going to a house birthday party and not funeral nor wedding.

Uhhhhh, I shouted in rejoice into the Room

Chapter two

Days went by really fast, and it's the day for the party already. My sis had bought me a new dress just to grace the day. I woke up just to find my sis cleansing her face, and with this act it means she has taken her bath. I find it hard to stand up from bed or I would I was lazy. Why the lazy attitude today, where has the energy gone too, I don't know, I am just finding it hard to stand up, This were the conversation happening in my skull. I would have decided to break my promise of following Ann to the party, hut she bought a dress already, how would she feel?

And yes I still have friends to brag too.

I removed the duvet covering my body and went straight into the bathroom. I spent some minutes sitting in the sink doing nothing before taking my bath. I came out just to my sis dressed already, she was looking ravishing in her dress. She was dressed in a long fitting Red gown supported with a Red high heel and a pink small bag. Seeing the shock and amusement on my sis, she asked, How do I look. Satan, I replied. You dressed in all red, who does that. She hissed and went back to the mirror. To be very honest, Ann has always been beautiful but she looks much pretty today.

I also slid I my dress, which I must confess I have tried on many times before this day just to look at the fitting.

Having got dressed, we went out to the living room to bid my family a good bye. Our parents praised our looks but not the same with our annoying brothers, they kept on saying that we look whack. Not minding their comments, we left and went in a cab you Rose's house.

Chapter 3

We got to Rose's house and knocked on the gate. The person who came out to let us in was a young girl who I around the same age as me. It wouldn't be enough if I don't praise her beauty, she looks more of a mermaid if truly mermaids are beautiful. She hugged my sis and gave me a welcoming eye and we made our way into their house. Tents were in the compound already with chairs also well assembled in order. Rose came out and hugged me and giving me a welcome kiss on the cheek. She leads and we all with the young lady, who turns out to be Rose's younger sister, all went to her Room. We stayed there chatting or would I say I watched them all chatting, but they would force me to contribute sometimes, while this is going in, Rose is also dressing up in preparation for the party. Rose's sister went out to welcome some other people, but I noticed something in her, she looks like the social one.

Minutes later, she came back inside announcing that the party is about to start. We evacuated the room just to find a lots of people under the tents already. Many, I am sure are from the Uni. But also with a mix of Rose's sisters friend. Now I know, she is a social one.

I sat right behind the celebrant in a customized tent which looks beautiful than

others. The party with a series of activities but the most disgusting and embarrassing happening of the day was when the MC called on random people to come and dance and say things about the celebrant, and the best dancer with the most appealing speech will be winning a prize. When he started to look around for who to call , i started praying in my heart that I shouldn't be called but unfortunately, I was called. I was sure that Ann had signaled to him to call me. I didn't wanted to stand up, but Rose's annoying sister whom I later get to know her name as Lucy started clapping and shouting for me to stand up, people also joined her in this chanting attitude of hers. I stood up and went on stage with my legs shaking. Although I wasn't a good dancer, I tried moving my legs a little to hide my fear. The music stopped and I was handed the microphone. Although being a very brilliant student, this would be my first time making a speech in public, I have always tried to avoid it but not this moment. My voice started trembling and my legs shaking like someone someone in a snow without clothes. Sweat formed up really fast in my body and I felt a sour taste in my mouth. I know I just have to say something, these people are not considering me to go to seat. Then I muttered the words out of my mouth “I love her". Some mature audience clapped, while some who I would considered unmatured like Lucy's classmates laughed. Why'd they laugh, probably at my shaking voice . The day went on with me not talking to anyone nor standing up from my seat. I was only focused in my phone searching about people's fear of talking in public and how to overcome it. I also decided not to be a loner anymore and socialize as they call it. But I have made a decision not to go out with my sis anymore

Evening came and came to pick us, on entering the cab, I said to my sis “I'm never going out with you again"
