Come on.. I need to focus on this battle.
The sound of groans and cheers filled the boy’s ears as he struggled to attack the slimy, goopy beast in front of him. Of course he wasn’t alone while fighting this thing. His best friends were also there as well. Well, not really best friends, but more like almost-strangers. His leather-jacket was torn and stained with both his velvety-blood and the creature’s goop. His chicken mask was scratched and damaged. The strings on the ends of the mask were unharmed, however.
I’ll fix it later. Like I always do.
“Andrew, watch out!” A girl with brownish hair called out to her teammate. Her white dress was torn, and her broken face revealed scrap and gears, which were smoking and whirling. Her left arm was mostly intact, but her right arm was a full-blown cannon, which was smoking from use.
Andrew rushed to the side as the robot now fired a large fireball which penetrated the gooey-being. The gloop had a sticky note on it's face, which had a creepy smile. The goop reformed the hole and just fired a sticky gloob at the girl, who quickly dashed to the side.
Andrew tried to focus on the battle, but something was bugging him. It was a thought that was etched into his mind, tugging at his focus.
Man, I really wanna buy a houseplant.
He now gripped the chicken mask he so desperately loved and readjusted his fingers so that his fingers were tugging at the strings near the end of the mask. He now raised his right hand forward and a boy with blue hair and a blue sweater raised his right hand as well. He had the same red and white strings on his limbs as well, and it almost seemed like Andrew was a puppeteer.
“Here we go!” The blue-haired boy exclaimed as Andrew now made a punching gesture, and the boy punched the globby beast. The beast, in retaliation, rushed forward toward Andrew and yanked at his leather-jacket, which finally gave in and ripped into half. His chest was now uncovered, and the beast’s left hand formed into a sharp object and crashed into Andrew’s chest. Blood splattered everywhere and Andrew groaned, as he fell to the ground. He struggled to stay conscious, fighting the luring feeling of sleep.
“Andrew, are you okay?!” The blue-haired boy and the robot girl both exclaimed as they rushed over. He could feel his ribcage stinging with desperation and agony.
“Y-Yeah, I’m fine, Jeremy. You don’t need to heal me either, Daisy.” Andrew coughed out blood onto his hand, as Jeremy stared in disbelief.
“Y-You should run. We can do this on our own!” The blue-haired boy smiled, but you could tell that there was a twinge of doubt hidden beneath his cheery persona.
Andrew pushed himself upward and stumbled on his own feet. His head was spinning from the impact, and his hands felt numb and content. He tried to remember why they came to battle this beast anyway.
This beast known as Stickynote had been attacking civilians at night, leaving their dried carcasses on streets so it could absorb their life-force to live. Andrew’s friends, along with Daisy and Jeremy, decided to track down the gloop and exterminate it. Of course, the plan was for Andrew, Jeremy and Daisy to track down Stickynote and distract it long enough for the others to ambush it. But now, since Andrew had been fatally damaged, it was crucial for the backup to arrive.
Andrew began limping away from the battle, as Daisy began to charge a fireball from her cannon arm again.
“Jeremy, go get the backup. I can deal with it for the time being.” Daisy exclaimed as she now fired the ball of flame. It pierced through the sticky mess, but it reformed. Jeremy nodded and rushed off, leaving Daisy alone.
Stickynote lunged forward and tried to attack the robot, but Daisy quickly switched her left arm into a sharp and pointy sword and began to clash with the beast. The gloop was being sloshed around the battle arena, but it managed to grab ahold of the sword arm and crawled up her arm and slapped her exposed gears with the goo. She groaned as she lost balance and fell to the ground with a loud thud. The goo beast’s shadow covered Daisy’s body as she braced for impact. Suddenly, a large piece of ice was hurled at Stickynote and Daisy perked up. An ice-blue moth, a small bumblebee, a boy with brown hair and a gray cloak and Jeremy had arrived with their weapons.
Stickynote made a gurgling sound before it began sinking into the ground like a puddle. The cloaked-fella unsheathed his sword from his cloak and slashed at the remains of the goop. It's right arm was chopped clean off. But it regrew it's arm and sunk back into the murky, inky depths.
Daisy sighed as she struggled to stand. She felt numb near the right side of her face. The gears exposed to the outside world were whirling and churning faster than ever before.
“You alright, Daisy?” The cloaked boy reached his hand out to his friend as she held onto his hand tight. He pulled her up and she sighed once more.
“I-I’m fine, Ko. Thanks for coming to our rescue, everyone.” Daisy stumbled over her own robotic tongue as everyone crowded around her.
“Great.. We’ll have to find Stickynote again. At least no one was hurt.” The blue moth brushed off the dirt and leftover ice from his cloak.
Daisy suddenly remembered about Andrew’s warm presence, and also remembered about his state.
I wonder how Andrew is doing now.

The sound of a cash register opening snapped Andrew back to his senses. He had been dozing off and thinking about the rest of his life. He looked down at the wooden flooring and saw the blood seeping from his chest like he was a cliff and the blood was a waterfall, endlessly falling onto a smaller pond. His eyes then focused on the bright green houseplant he was carrying. The pot was now stained with maroon liquid.
“The total comes up to 60 dollars please.” The cashier smiled warmly at Andrew as he coughed up a little more blood. His hands shuffled around in his pockets, trying to find his wallet. His hands were soaked in his own blood, so everything else in his pocket was covered in the bloody substance. He eventually pinpointed his wallet and grabbed it out of his pocket and set it down on the counter. The fabric was drenched in the blood as he opened it. He pulled out 60 dollars and put it in front of the cashier and put his wallet away. His vision grew blurry.
“Alright. Enjoy your houseplant!” The woman was still smiling as Andrew weakly nodded and gripped his new houseplant. He began to stumble out of the door of the hardware store, dragging blood with him. But only a few meters outside of the store and his legs grew numb, as he collapsed on the concrete. The light gray concrete soon turned into a darker shade because of the blood spilling from his chest, but directly on his wound was the houseplant he had just bought. It's grassy-green leaves now had tints of red on it's stems, and Andrew was overcame by the lingering and luring dread of sleep.
