There is an old fashioned saying.
”Everything old is new again.”
Could the saying also mean,
”Everything new is old again”, too🙂
A heart that stays awake, alert.(pf)
One of the prerequisites of a servant’s heart.
Another prerequisite:
To know: Who the boss is🙂🙏🏻.
As young children, when we become frustrated with authority, we stop and stomp and say to our parents, guardians, the elders,
”You are not the boss of me.”😠😤😡😭
Even as adults, we can do the same, act the same childish way.
When we do not get our own way. When our expectations are not to our, well, expectations.😳
Viggo the Vigilante knew a lot about this, about the experiences of both getting what he wanted and NOT getting what he wanted.
And, well, He was darn confused about it too.. Thankfully, Viggo had persons in his orbit who did,
Get it.
And.
Were patient enough to walk along side him, even though he did not “see it.” Viggo’s heart had not been fully awakened. He had not been alert. He did not used his heart to keep alert-to the sufferings of those around him.
You see, Viggo ran away from the truth, a lot.
When the truth becomes too much to bear and we may feel cornered, boxed, our first instincts are to flee.
Fight or Flight.
And that is exactly the conundrum Viggo found himself in when the great snowstorm hit.
Everything happens for a reason.
As young people growing into your own, please remember this important life lesson: We only have control over so much in this crazy thing called life.
There is a true Master, and he shows us everyday, how to be good and honorable daily servants to each other in anticipation of pleasing him and earning his affection.
Why?
Then we learn the importance of passing his great lessons along😃.
It is simple.
But it is not easy.
Especially when we live in our own heads much of the day🙃.
When it was time to load the plane, Viggo was ever anxious, again to “get outta here.” To anywhere else but here. There was no reason why, here is just as pleasing as there, there is just as pleasing as here. He looked out the small window at the glimmers of cotton-like snow falling, at this time, not yet knowing they were God’s glimmers of hope (pas Shane).
The problem with searchers and seekers is they may use the excuse of searching and seeking when they cannot face their own truth, their own truths. The Great Escape becomes the only answer.
The good news.
It does not have to be.
The only answer.
The true answer is earning and learning that patience is a virtue that does not develop overnight.
It is tested beyond measure for certain.
Most important:
It stands the test of time.
Perfectly. Because it follows His path, his great footsteps.🦶🏻🦶🏻
We servants have all been there. The Vigilante Servant is a special kind of servant. One who has earned their stripes. And most importantly knows they must continue to keep earning them to live in His good graces.
The Vigilante Servant knows what to do next.
Eagerly serve. Each and every day their fellowman, even if and while ,
grounded.
Viggo learned a great and valuable lesson. The day the historic snowstorm grounded him. Viggo was about ready to blow his top, when the plane taxied for a half an hour and then stopped,
Dead in its tracks. The flight attendants were busily looking busy. They already knew the bad news (so called bad news) and we’re pretending as if they were soon going to “take off.” Head checks, repeated head checks, trips to the loo, the passengers all getting a little squirelly as time went on.
Talk about feeling trapped. With no escape. A grounded airplane. Viggo thought he would lose his mind….thinking….how could he have to return to where he never wanted to go. never wanted to be in the first place. His mind raced. And raced. And raced. Then, all of the sudden Viggo took notice.
Of the person sitting right next to him. With a small Bible, reading passages and looking out the window. Why, Viggo thought, was this person so calm. So collected.
He attempted to strike up a conversation with the person…. inquire as to why they were so calm. Why did they not feel trapped in this cabin of unknowns. Wasn’t the person anxious. To get to where they were going?
”Yes.” The fellow passenger replied.
Of course.
However.
“Life happens in due course.” “The effort and energy we expound in thinking we even have a part in His plan”…. is reason enough to step back from thinking we can control it, anything really.”
That does not mean we are not responsible for our own lives. We are even more responsible to take care of one another.
Take care. Of and for one another.
Stresses. Doubts. Fears. Joys.Controlling feelings
Are all part of the process.
We fight the invisible demon for many, many reasons.
He teaches the servant who graduates up to Vigilante Servant to stop fighting the wrong fight.
We learn this best and most by working with others. Even if and when we do not know them or even like them. It is enlightening to say the least. It is joyful to say the most.
Like the small child stomping, “You are not the boss of me.” The Vigilante Servant has figured out who the boss of them is🙂🙏🏻.
The gift that keeps on giving. Does not have to be big, the small acts of kindness are what get us all from there to here, from here to there. Everything old is new again. Everything new is old again.
Viggo sighed. This person had a point. Of himself, Viggo pondered, had he lived a life of regret? We all have regrets, things we would have done majorly different had the motivations, situations and circumstances been different. Perhaps the moment will guide Viddo’s next life ambition.
Does not mean we must stay grounded in our own stubbornness.
Options?
Cultivate a a good heart.
An alert heart.
An awakened heart.
With that, the announcement came from the pilot, that they were not going anywhere. The snowstorm was coming. They must de plane. An added bonus, the roads were closed as well. So. Spending a night in the air port was Viggo and the other passengers only option.
Viggo looked at the calmness of the person sitting next to him.
The person smiled a friendly smile and replied,
“Looks like we are all having a sleepover, just like when we were kids!” Attempting to make the best of the crummy situation.
At first, Viggo was annoyed. He had no other choice though.
A sleepover at the airport with his new passenger friends was the only option.
That day.
Viggo learned to step back.
He did not like it.
He was however learning a lesson in patience.
Let go.
Let God chart the course.
Keep the faith.
All.
In due process.
