Dear Lars,
Thank You for the lovely letter! I absolutely enjoyed looking at your photo and comparing it to the memory I have of you. Thank you for the photo of your daughter's family as well. I am happy to see everyone relaxing together. This weekend, I will be alone and doing a little bit of work. I will meet with my daughter again next week, but I will be so excited to meet again with you! Holland does not require any visa anymore for traveling to the countries of the European Union. Holland citizens need to show a biometric passport and prove financial security for the duration of the trip. I will be thinking of you more now. I hope you have a pleasant weekend!
Hugs from your Vera
Greetings, Lars!
I hope this letter finds you well and in the holiday spirit! The last time we emailed you told me you were visiting your grandchildren. I hope they are happy with you and the gifts! I am spending my holiday in Rotterdam and my children are away for work during holidays. I will be celebrating my 2021 with thoughts of you and me, and with homemade meals. I want to hear from you soon! Happy holidays!
Hugs
From Vera
Dear Lars,
It is so good to hear your voice and it was a surprise today to receive your phone call. My evening was very busy today with outdoor activities and tasks, so I was very refreshed and pleasantly satisfied from today's meetings and results. I am so interested to know how you've been so far, and really curious about your daughter's situation. It is nice to write to you and feel that you understand me and my feelings. Lars, you can tell me all you said today over the phone in a letter. In a letter, I can understand more. And when you write to me, I know that you have my email. It's very nice to hear from each other and keep in touch that way. I want to know your thoughts on us. Have a pleasant evening, and hugs from me,
Your Vera
P.S. And these are the photos from today. I was joined by my daughter and we accomplished a lot today. We took a break at a local Mcdonald's and bought a latte and hot cocoa and two delicious deep fried hot dogs. This is how I looked when you called. It really was a surprise!
Good afternoon, dear Lars!
Thank you for your congratulations and some information about yourself that you spend the winter months outside the house in a warm region. This is wonderful — you are active, you fly south, you communicate with your daughters and grandchildren in Europe. What matters is how you feel in the age you are, not the numbers on your passport. You are not old. A man remains a man until his deathbed. And a woman –if she walks next to such a man– feels surrounded by care and protection. It seems to me that it brings pleasure and joy to a man to be next to a good woman. We can meet again while this world is still intact. Do you think the big and small joys of a future encounter are worth it?
Vera
Good evening, Lars!
My family is not in Holland. It's very dangerous to live there now. The daughter lives here in England, she was sheltered by a woman who works as a doctor. My daughter works in a fish and chips shop. My son works in duty free on a cruise ship. Now their ship is in Palma de Mallorca. So I told you a little about my family. Please, send me your recent photo, I’ll send you mine. I told my daughter that you'd sent an SMS, she was very happy that you still remembered us. Good night! Write.
My hugs,
Vera
Good evening, Lars!
Today is my birthday. I am 64 years old. On Tuesday, my daughter and I fly to the island of Rhodes in Greece for a week. This is a gift from my son. A week of relaxation at an all-inclusive hotel. I hope the weather will be good.
Hugs. Kiss,
Vera
Hello dear Lars!
Happy birthday to you! I sincerely wish you all happiness, as well as good health, joy, love for your family and close friends, prosperity, and peace of mind wherever you are.
Vera
Good evening, Lars!
I will give you my new number. I will be happy about our communication. I think it's better to agree on a time in advance, because I might be in English lessons or at the employment office. Let's keep in touch!
Vera
Good evening, dear Lars!
They stopped paying me my pension in Holland. I had to be present at the bank to confirm that I was still alive. But now is the high season for holidays and the tickets are very expensive, so I had to postpone the trip. My son finished his contract on a cruise ship and returned to England. My daughter works, but she wants to find another job. That's how we live. How are you and your family doing? What are you doing? What are your plans for the future?
Hugs. Don't forget me. Write. I'm waiting.
Vera
Hey, Lars!
I want to thank you for the long-awaited conversation, as well as your letters to me, and your warm attention to me. I really appreciate it. The weekend was interesting, it was my son's birthday and we went to a cafe to have lunch together. And today was a hard day. I studied in college, I was in class for a long time, then I had to buy food, come and cook it, then my son and I went to water the garden for our friends. I felt tired, but then a letter from you arrived and I was pleasantly happy. You already know my new phone number, as well as my email address. Write. I give you a big hug.
Vera
Hello!
I love getting letters from you, thanks for sharing what you do at home! The nearest international airport in England is Leeds (Bradford). I am also sending you my English address. Hollanders do not need a visa to Sweden. I can send my English number, but the phone there is very old and it doesn't work well. But I still have to have it for all the banks and other organisations.
I hug you tight.
Vera
Good morning, Lars!
It was a very difficult week. I haven't had any free time since the beginning of September. I had to study at college from 12:00pm to 5:00pm on Mondays and from 6:00pm to 9:00pm every day except Saturday and Sunday at the British City Council. This is an express course to learn English with the mandatory condition of doing homework. There are many tasks and it also takes 5-6 hours. I'm tired, I don't get enough sleep. There is no time to prepare a regular lunch, because for this you have to go grocery shopping. There are no shops nearby. We finish a challenging course on the 22nd of November this year, and go to college until Christmas. I really enjoyed what you wrote about the house, the village, helping your daughter build her house, the soccer team, and the trip to London. Write, I don't go to classes on Saturday and Sunday, I just do my homework. Hugs. I really hope I can do this not only virtually. Have a good day. Take care of yourself.
Vera
Good morning, Lars!
I am waiting for a letter from you, although I have not yet answered the previous letter. The summer was free, just regular trips to the employment agency, but now there is not a single free minute due to attending English courses again. I prepare dinner starting at nine o'clock, the evening is already over and I have no appetite and I immediately go to bed, because in the morning everything will go in circles. My sponsors came back yesterday from a trip to Spain. They rested there for a week, they say it was very hot there 30+. In this letter I will send photos of them with their friends. They left me three turtles to take care of. They needed to be fed a bit and taken out to the enclosure in the backyard for a walk.
I also often have to mow the green lawn in front and behind the house. Our weather is 15+, the grass grows quickly. But it is very beautiful, green, the house is well maintained and looks decent. I support you in getting to know each other more through letters before we meet again. It's just that now everyone makes high demands on students, and their age is no longer young, grandmothers come to lessons with me, some find it difficult to move their body, let alone cram a new language. And in college I study with students who are 16-18 years old. I really want to communicate with you and write you letters. Write about yourself. How are you, your family? Also ask me questions that you also want answered. I end the letter with best wishes and hugs.
Vera
Good evening, dear Lars!
It was a very busy week in Intensive English. Yesterday I took the midterm exam, as it had been five weeks since the start of the course. Five more weeks, exams, I get a certificate, and I won't be so tired, I hope. My sponsors went on holiday to Malaga, they were there for a week. Sandra came back sick, she got food poisoning. She says she ate meatballs and got looseness after that. She could not recover for a long time, then the doctor prescribed her pills, she took them and the looseness went away, but she stopped keeping her balance and did not understand where to go, which door in her own house to open. I advised her to stop taking the pills — it's clear that they don't really suit her. Now everything is fine with her. English men may like to meet each other, but it is not common for them to meet people on the street. I don't go anywhere but college, and there are only 17-year-old boys there. I do not need such an acquaintance. I am about to finish my studies and we will meet and communicate more closely. I hug you.
Vera
Hey, Lars!
I haven't written to you for a long time, but you know how busy I am now and understand everything. There are three weeks left of this daily English course from the British Council. On the 22nd of November we will take the exam and this boring work will be finished. To be honest, I'm very tired of all this. Truly. Yesterday my son invited me to a Korean restaurant. We ate rolls with flying fish, caviar, and various sushi, which distracted me a little. I'll send you a photo. I'm afraid for your son-in-law's parents, it's very dangerous in Beirut now. My hometown is still subject to shelling, but today there were eight of them, anti-aircraft systems worked and defended the city. My cousin told me about this. I hope you have already left safely for your holiday in Gran Canaria, or are preparing to go. I would like to walk with you along the seashore and hold hands and face beautiful sunrises together, admire magical sunsets, walk peacefully together and enjoy life. You revealed to me such a sketch of a happy life there, in Jurmala, by the sea in Riga. Thank you very much! I remember. I appreciate you. My children are with me here in England. Hugs.
Vera
Dear Lars,
I just finished my English course on Friday. I passed the exam successfully and am waiting for the certificate of completion. I am not so busy with daily classes now.
My son is currently studying at college here in England, and after finishing he will return to work on a ship.
My daughter works at Fish and Chips. Tomorrow is my landlady Sandra's birthday, she will be 72 years old. Her husband Pete gave her a present - a holiday in a hotel on the Irish Sea coast, they were not so lucky with the weather, it was cold rain. They returned from their trip this afternoon.
I hope you are having a good time in Gran Canaria. It must be so beautiful there with the sun and the ocean! The days are getting colder here in England, but thinking about you makes everything a little warmer. I can't wait for you to tell me about your adventures when you return. Truly.
Take care and have a wonderful time!
Warm regards,
Your Vera
