A boy quietly opens the yard door, he takes car steering wheel with him and sit on the stone wall to see the path ahead. The breeze ruffles his hair, rushing air in his face through the open car window at high speed. Leaving. Going far far away. He only has one seat though; he wishes another sit so his sister can go with him. But he can’t, she`s not allowed. A high pitch scream breaks his window and the car fades in the air. He is back in stone wall with is steering wheel, his sister in inside with their parents, but he no longer hears a sound. Another scream, he decides to investigate and follow. His parents loved him and let him do whatever he wanted, there was no wrong he could commit. So he didn’t worried when he decided to go behind his mom dearly flowers, climb the ladder and on the garage ceiling. It was full of oranges fallen from the trees, he is used to constantly climb there to get fresh oranges, and although his parents don’t like him taking risky actions, they´ve never known of it. From the garage ceiling he can just extend his body and climb to the rooftop, it needs some balance but each year he grows it becomes easier. Then he climbs down the other side which connects with a big tree with thick branches, and he is out of the house. Just behind his house, there`s a park, a beautiful park full of bushes, trees, swings, and more. Then he sees girl running into the street, leaving her house door open, and into the bushes. He grows curious and gets closer to the bushes where he hears sobbing. “Are you alright?”, he asked with honest worry. But the girl doesn’t seem to hear him or pay any attention. He gets closer and extends his hand to touch her back, when she turns, push his hand off and scream “Déjame! Véte!” and turns around and sobs into her knees. She has dirty old jeans and an oversized sweater, sleeves rolled to her elbows. Her face is red, her hair a mess, and a broken necklace around her neck. He stays quietly observing her, she keeps sobbing and from time to time pulls the neck of her sweater to wipe of her nose. As she does that, the boy notice her purple shoulder, which she quickly covers with fear in her eyes, stands up and leave. “Wait, don’t go”, he screams too late. He tries to follow but couldn’t find her. He stays an hour but she doesn’t come back and it was getting dark, so he went back home. His mom had made his favorite dinner, nuggets and macaroni. His father plays with his hair and tells him he brought a dessert. The three eat the dinner together but only two of them truly enjoyed it. He walks upstairs to watch some TV, her sister´s favorite Serie is on, and he laugh at every joke thinking hope she would have enjoyed it. But his thought keeps going to the girl on the park. He leaves the TV on so his parents think he is there, and walks down stairs. The kitchen had lights off so probably they had already left to their room. He goes the next floor downstairs and he sees light from under their door. He gets into his room and grabs his flash light, quietly walking past his parent’s room and three steps down to his toys-room. The laundry room is dark but he keeps using his flashlight to see on the way, until he reaches her door. He knocks the door slowly but there is no answer, so he turns the knob and looks inside. There is a bundle on the bed, fully covered, slow breath could be heard meaning she was sleeping. He goes under her bed and grabs the Magic Cream between the spiles. He turns around and closes the door as quietly he goes back to his room and out the Magic Cream inside his bag. Then he goes back to the TV and turns it off. As he goes back to his room, his parents have opened the door and wait to give him a goodnight kiss before going to bed. Next day he goes again to the park and waits on the swings. Other kids run in the park and play together, laughing and screaming, and playing. He waits till lunch time but he needs to leave. He goes home to eat but then goes back. He was going to the swings when he notices a shadow-like movement between the bushes. As he goes there, he finds the girl in the same cloth and same position, but as soon as she sees him, she stands up ready to leave. She looks around, but is early and the park is still full of children. During her doubt, he reaches down his backpack and grabs the Magic Cream. She looks back at him with untrust in her eyes, which change into a surprise look when seen the tube. She looks into his eyes and he smiles back while extending his hand with the tube. Slowly, she steps forward and grabs the cream, but does open it, she just keeps staring at it. “For your shoulder”, the boy explains, but she only gives him a confused look. The boy stands up, seems to grab her hands, and she stiff, but the boy until touches the tube and open the lid. The tube is still between her hands as he presses the tube and takes a little bit of the Magic into his fingers. Then he pushes down his own shirt of his shoulders to show her how to apply it. Slowly, the girl sits down, and takes some cream into her hand. She looks around making sure no one else is there, but they can not be seen behind the bushes. She pushes her sweater of her shoulders and puts starts rubbing her cream. She smiles and the boy and he smile back. “Gracias”, she said while closing the tube and giving it back. He puts it back in his backpack and sits next to her. “I`m Tony”, he says pointing at his chest. “Maria”, she answers back. They don’t say much more and just enjoy each other’s company until the sun starts to hide. “I have to go, dinner will be soon”, he says while picking his back. The girl stands and says “¿te veré otra vez?”. But the boy just waves off and turn back home. Next day at lunch, his mom had given him a chocolate bar for being a good boy. He says he wanted one for his friend and wonder if he could have another one, so he got two bars that day, his mom assuming he was lying and it really was both for him. He goes down the laundry and leaves the bar next to the door, and quietly goes back to his room. He took a t-shirt he used a few days ago in case his parents wondered what he was doing in the laundry. Then he grabbed his bag and went to the yard again. Behind the bushes, the girl was peeking between the bushes. For once, she wasn’t crying, but looking up for him. Still seemed sad, but that quickly changed as a bright smile enter her lips when seeing him. “Tony!”, she whispered-yelled. She still keeps her space from him but her smile said it all. He went into his backpack and grab the chocolate bar and hand it to her. She was so happy; she savored every bite she took and let it melt into her mouth. Slow and delicious chocolate, almost all kids have left the park by the time she finished. He took his steering wheel out and stood up as he said “come”. Curiously the girl stood up and followed when he started walking of the bushes. He led her to the slide and climbed up, but she froze and the bottom of the stairs. He reached her hand and told her “trust me”. The girl feared the next step but his hand gives her confidence. They climbed and sat together backward, their legs toward the ladder-side, hanging freely in the air. The breeze ruffles their hair, the air rushed in their face, they were far far away but they were together. His sister couldn’t be there, but he could at least take Maria every day. There was no need for words, just feel the path ahead, and one day they would leave for real.
