You can’t go beyond me
Note~
TW: Suicide, nuclear bomb and war.
Julius walked in circles only ever moving slightly forward. The vomit had stopped though, It had gone on too long, longer than expected. The smell had become his odor by now.
His eyes scanning the debris, the fire searching for Benito. Finding several bodies in the process. Not everyone was meant to lose the air from their lungs. Who was left for him to rule? The few rich men that had the money and power to protect themselves? He continued his search, calling out for Benito. Maybe it was hopeless. Maybe he was gone. Yet Julius kept going.
He had walked several miles that day, but he had found him.
He shouted “You dropped the bomb, the nuclear bomb” Julius`s voice lowered “That wasn't the plan, why would you do that?”
Benito didn't say much, only when he was spoken to: “You kept it locked up. You wouldn't drop it, use it.”
“Ye, I didn't because there would be no one left. No one except the rich. You know that!”
“What's wrong with being with the rich? You are all the same. You should get on greatly. All of you, so like-minded.”
“No, everyone is different.”
“Ye, sure”
“Whats that supposed to mean?”
“Look at you. Look at history. Every generation is the same. We always lend up in the same place. I just ended it.”
“You nearly ended the human species”
“It is for the better, I was making sure no cruelty would survive. Then I will put new teachings into place. The world will be a better place. You started a world war, but it will be the last war.”
“That's your justification? You were not supposed to use the nuclear bomb.”
“I will not be like any of you. I know you shouldn't rule, you are not capable of it.”
“Not capable of it? What makes you so capable, if you are the same as me?”
“We are not the same. I have "humanity", empathy and I'm not selfish. I have watched you, learned from you. I do not want to be like you. To never grow. To be stuck in this forever lasting loop, and you could branch out. Yet very few do, if any. So I won't give anyone a choice.”
“Sounds like you didn't get very far from that loop”
“I have changed, grown so much these last few years and I will continue to develop”
“We have all said that before”
“You know what confuses me? You are all the same species, homo sapiens. Yet not all of you want to oppress. Maybe that is just because not everyone has the power. Can I ask you something?”
Julius nodded
“Why do you want to hurt each other?"
“Why did you drop the nuclear bomb?”
“I told you, to change this cruel species”
“But why did you drop the bomb, that was not necessary; was it?”
“Well just like Noah's ark, I had to get rid of the wickedness”
“Excuses. There is nothing left. The world is burning. Everything they warned us of is happening. The plants and animals are dying out, all of them. Even the survivors are sick. The ozone layer protection is broken-”
“Oh do not be dramatic. It is just reduced. It is not going anywhere”
“You are just saying that, because you can survive in this environment. It doesn't affect you.”
“I am getting really tired of this. You people made money to have power, to control. You made status. Keep the poor, poor. That way you lot can have the weapons and the money. You control everything, all those people you keep poor so they can not even do anything about it. How can you live with yourself?”
Julius walked closer, pushing him as hard as he could. “You wiped everyone out!”
“What about all those species humans wiped out. Ones you helped get rid off? Even now, you still try. Pushing me to the ground will not destroy me.”
“You are literally doing the same thing”
“And? I will change.
It is about time you humans stop dominating. It's about time you suffer for all you have done.”
“So what, you're going to kill all the ones who have wronged. Then continue destroying the planet. Just like we have. You are not any better than us! You can not be. You only have our knowledge. You can not go beyond us. The best thing you can do is pull the plug. The best thing for earth and all nature.”
“Well if I cannot go beyond you, doesn't the whole thing show how bad you are? At least there is a chance I can change. There is none for you. Not really.”
“How could I even let this happen?”
“I will tell you how.
You somehow got even more greedy. You thought you would take more risks. Well not so much a risk, when you did not care about any consequences. Well I guess not all. Not the power, or your own life. You just wanted more and more money. I wonder if it would have ever been enough for you. Your greed covered your eyes. It blinded you, and gave you trust in me.
Well anyway, we clearly cannot both dominate this world. Luckily for me you put artificial intelligence into absolutely everything. In everyone's pocket. In all their homes and businesses. In all your weapons. You have nothing Julius.
“My god.” he chuckled.
“You even gave me everyone's information, all their thoughts and their ideas. I have access to it all. Even yours. I know you so well, I can predict all your next moves. Imitate your emotions.
Benito was right. There was nothing Julius could do. He tried thinking of an escape. He could run, he could beg or he could commit. Julius knew Benito would not make his death peaceful. Nor had the empathy. Plus Benito probably found a way to stop being shut down. His best solution was suicide. He thought it was the only real choice.
