It's yet again another Tiring day indeed, and so after tossing my coat and bag at my work desk i energetically sit on my couch with my Trusty o'l guitar and play a what may seem old but gold song back in the 90s, and as i strum through the rhythm of the song "More than words" by Extreme i can still vividly remember how i first played the guitar on this usual day too.
A year ago, in a Tiring day at work i decided to leave office early and struggle for half an hour in keeping my eyelids awake on my way home as i find myself having the only strength to throw my coat and my shoulder bag to my work desk and just let my body fall down over my spacious and comfortable bed.
Soon enough i felt that it's still not enough for me to enjoy my sweet rest after working all day so i change my position in bed, this time my Body is facing the ceiling with my arms over my head to make myself feel better.
Suddenly my phone rang and it seems that i got a message notification, but as I was to tired to answer it i left it ringing at my palms.
"Give me a break man." as i have assumed that it would be from work i uttered a deep sigh before tossing my phone over the bed.
Then again i guess i can't have my good sleep anymore so i just decided to turn on the Radio and before raising the volume as loud as i can be comfortable for, then just hit my bed right away.
"Good evening Folks you are now Tuning on to the best radio station in town The DMX radio station in this segment we will play musics that will take you back to the past, this is Jericho your DJ for tonight enjoy!" then slowly the radio audio started to fade as one of my childhood favorite song started playing.
Then the Intro struck a chill down my spine as i still vividly remembered that rhythm back in my teenage years.
"Saying i love you is not the words i want to hear from you."
It's a song from a 90s band Extreme entitled "More than words" and the way intro played reminds me of how father strums his guitar back then
Then it hit me, father actually gave that guitar to me before i move here to the city and as far as i can remember it's still in the closet that i had never opened ever since then.
With that upbeat motivation i rise from my bed to get my trusty o'l Acoustic, it's nothing special just an old medal made from oak wood base and horse hair strings.
But as soon as i wanted to get with the rhythm the thought got me that i still haven't learned much about guitar, and probably not once back then, and with nothing with me i just fumble around with my fingers around the unfamiliar strings and finger patterns, hoping to match the tune of the song in the process.
But i guess this won't be going anywhere, so i decided to put on my airpods this time and put on Spotify to search for that song.
"Let's see i think this goes... Here right?" with many attempts that led me to frustration i find myself more focused on learning the guitar than actually playing the song and i think this won't get me anywhere too, so with that i just lay my guitar and put off my airpods but allow the song to play for me at once while sitting still at my comfy couch.
Then i received another message from someone, i guess this time I'll let it slip and just glance towards my phone no matter what i may see.
And to my surprise it's Claude, my best friend back in college and it looks like he was the one who messaged me one hour ago too, with that i decided to open the chatbox.
Claude (6:12 pm): "Hey man wanna hang out? It looks like i finished work early this time so wanna get steak outside? Don't worry it's my treat."
Claude (7:00 pm): "Hey Sean are you still alive? If you won't answer I'll just barge right through there in a minute since i Won't be allowing this to be a boring night you know."
Then it hit me, "Crap it's about me 30 minutes since he sent the last message." and before i can respond i hear the doorbell ringing from the outside.
"Hey Man Are you up?" Claude shouts from the gate.
Then immediately i turn over my windows and say,
"Oh hey sorry man i was laying that's all."
"Geez you could have just said so." then he smirks "hey still wanna hang out?
"Sure just a bit." then i opened the gate not just bothering about my mess right now in my living room.
"Goodness Sean what a mess we have here." he then laughs with a cheeky tone.
"I was quite in a slump working on my guitar."
"hey that's quite interesting baby you got there let me see." then he quickly grab my guitar and started fumbling around it too.
"You know man i was trying to-" before i notice that his fingers are in total trance right now playing what seem like the chorus part of "Canon Rock".
"Whoa hold there speedster you can actually play guitar?"
"Well i haven't told you that I'm currently on a band right now as part of my gig."
Then a brilliant idea struck my mind that time, i guess it's worth a try leaving my guard down and just asking for a friend in help.
"Hey since you are here why not help me with this thing?"
Claude looks at me with such a confused look then immediately giving a laugh.
"Well i guess i can do that after seeing you like this." he then lay the guitar down. "can i borrow your phone I'll dial up some pizza on the way too."
"Toss some Rootbear I'll just pay you later." i replied to him while he is punching through the calls.
Then the night ended up with me and my best friend exploring the guitar, teaching me the very basics to one of most fundamentals in learning the guitar, until each and every day i got home from work i would go over my comfy couch and play that guitar and learn more on my own.
And thinking back then i guess it seems i have reached a long way with my once dust covered guitar and motivation for playing the instrument to a shiny new body and new layered strings along with my new chord book and this golden guitar strap that I've just bought recently.
Then another message slides on my chat bubble, it's Claude once again saying, "Hey man wanna join my gig? Just say a word and we'll receive a position for you." and with that i smile with a reply, "I'm on my way."
