"Okay, fine I choose truth." I said.

Me and my closest friend Lillian were playing Truth Or Dare. She had coaxed me into it. "Tell me something that you've never told anyone." Lillian said.

"Okay, you can't tell me but I am really a cat. That is so nice to get off my chest." I said with a sigh of relief. Lillian looked at me aghast.

"Yeah right," she scoffed. "You are just as human as me." Lillian rolled her eyes.

"Do you want me to show you?" I asked with a smirk.

"Yeah sure." Lillian said, turning her attention back to her book.

I snapped my fingers, and I transformed into my feline form. My fur was jet black just like my hair in human form and my eyes were the same one blue and one green. I stood in a pile of the clothes I was wearing before I transformed. Lillian stared at me. She rubbed her eyes then pinched herself.

"See I told you," I mewed. Lillian blinked a few times. I licked my paw and brushed it over my ears. Lillian poked me on the nose. "Hey!" I hissed.

"It's really you." She said in awe.

"Indeed." I yawned.

"If you are really a cat then why don't you drink milk?" Lillian asked me, still unsure.

"Most cats are lactose intolerant. Like me. In fact the idea that cats like milk is a common misconception." I responded. "Huh…" she said. She reached down and started to scratch my chin. I purred.

"Hey!" I meowed, jerking my head back, "Don't use my cat-ness against me!"

"How come I can understand you?" Lillian asked.

"I am fluent in cat and human therefore I speak either no matter my form," I answered. "Interesting. And how did you...How do I say it? Come to be?" she asked hestiately.

"My master made me so." I meowed, "That was a lot of M's." I kneaded the pillow on my bed and laid down.

"Your master?" Lillian inquired curiously yet confused. She looked at me closely.

"Yes." I mewed. "She is portrayed as my mother. And in some why she is. She took me in as a kitten and transformed me so I could be both human and cat." I calmly explained, "Now if you excuse me, I'll be heading to the bathroom so that I can change back." I mewed, jumping down from the pillow and weaving my way to the bathroom, dragging my clothes behind me. I transformed back into a human and put my clothes on and walked back into the room.  "Well?" I said. Lillian squinted at me then looked off into the distance pondering. I sat down next to her. "Now that I think about it makes sense. You act like a cat. You do what you want, introverted, you love food, night owl, er well, night cat I suppose, you have great hearing, coordinated. I don't think I have ever seen you fall. Quiet." Lillian explained to herself. I laughed. "And you have fangs! Your canines were always sharper and larger than others!" she exclaimed.

"Ah, yes the reason I was called Vampire throughout middle school." I said with a sigh. Lillian laughed. "And you are unlucky that makes sense because your black cat!" She said. "BLACK CATS AREN'T BAD LUCK! THAT IS A STUPID SUPERSITION THAT HAS RUINED THOUSANDS OF CATS' LIVES!" I yelled agitated.

"Yeesh, no need to get mad. I was just joking." She remarked.

"Sorry, that's just a touchy subject." I apologized, picking at my nails, embarrassed at my outburst.

"It is all good." She said. Suddenly  Lillian's face went bright red and she got up and ran out the door, clearly upset. She ran down the stairs. "What, Lillian!" I exclaimed getting up. I heard the front door shut. I stood there confused. I blinked. My master came upstairs.

"What was that all about?" She said.

"I did a stupid thing." I answered with a sigh. "Did you tell her that you were a cat?" She asked. "Maybe…." I answered quietly. Master let out a sigh, placed her hand on her forehead. "You are such a naïve child." Master said before turning around and walking out of my room. I stood there, confused. "What did I do?" I asked myself, "She was taking it so well…" I sat down on my bed. "JUST GO ASK HER WHAT YOU DID ALREADY!" Master yelled up to my room. "Oh!" I exclaimed, jumping up startled by the loudness of the yell.

I ran down the steps and out the door, barefoot. I ran down to her house and knocked on the door. Her dad answered the door.

"Oh, hey Caleb. What are you doing here? Where is Lillian?" He asked. I panted. "She. Ran," I panted, "Out. Of my house. I'm.  Looking for her." I took a deep breath. Her dad looked confused. "Check Luther Park. If you don't find her there, call me immediately." He said. "Thanks," I breathed.

I ran toward the park. I called her name a few times. No responses. All the sudden I saw her curled up in a tree. I walked up to the tree. "Hey," I said softly. She looked up. "Oh, uh, hi." She muttered. "May I?" I asked. I gestured my hand to the branch next to her. She nodded.

I climbed up next to her. "So, why did you run off?" I asked quietly. She buried her face into her lap. "C'mon you can tell me. We've known each other for years. You can tell me anything, you know that right?" I said. I heard her let out a sigh. She lifted her head back up. "It's just that, well…" she muttered trailing off.  Her face went red. She buried her head again. She muttered something, but I couldn't understand because the hoodie she was wearing muffled the sounds too much. "What? I can't understand you." I asked. She lifted her head up.

"I like you!" She exclaimed, "and now it's weird because it's weird for a human to like a cat!"  Her face went red and she buried it again. "Oh…" I breathed. "Well, I like you too." I said with a smile. "But you're right, it is kinda weird. But I'm a human right now aren't I? I mean if anything the fact that I am is a cat is a perk. It'll be way easier for you to sneak me into places and I'll be able to get revenge for when people are mean to you without them knowing why a cat attacked them." I explained. She laughed. She leaned her head on my shoulder. "I suppose so." She said. "I make very convincing arguments, don't I?" I asked.

"Yes. Yes, you do." She stated with a smile.

What a delightful tale (tail?) Josie. We have four cats at home and I have often wondered what it would be like if they could be human, even if just for a day. Great story, thanks for sharing.

I loved this story because it is so fun and creative! I really enjoyed how you started the story with it right in the middle of an activity that the characters are doing. I do have to agree with Abby that I liked hearing the facts you added into it.

That was my favorite one of the three you submitted! It was great how you added facts about cats like the common misconceptions and stuff like that. It was funny at the same time as being sweet. Great job!
