Finding Love in the Rain

The day started with a light drizzle. The wind acted up blowing the leaves back and forth from the many trees lining the streets. Those living and working in Bucks County where there is a large full-time as well as a vacation area recognized by the start of the fall season. .That fact was easily identified as the wind grew stronger and the drizzle became a huge rain shower. The first rain of the season had begun and it developed into a strong rainstorm.

Walking in the rain with the wind blowing Julia's umbrella turned upside down and the power of the rainstorm caused her to look like she stepped out of a shower fully dressed. She ran the last few steps to her doorway and knocked loudly because if she opened her handbag to locate her house keys the keys would start swimming,

Once inside her older sister Betsy opened the door and saw Julia shaking. She immediately ran a hot bath to warm her up. Julia could not wait to get into the tub. When finished she dried herself off and came into the kitchen where Betsy brought her some hot tea and a homemade apple pie.

"Thanks Betsy, I sure will enjoy that. I cannot believe that this year's first rain of the season was so terrible. How will I get to work tomorrow? Many roads will be flooded and the buses will not be running. Tomorrow my boss left me a text that said in big letters BE THERE because I have to sign several contracts and they must be signed by tomorrow. I guess I will have to find a different road to my office, I am sure the highway will be very busy and wet so hopefully, everyone will be driving slower than usual. I am kind of nervous driving in and out of roads that are not familiar but I do have to get to work.

To get Julia's mind off driving in the rain she said "Let's make spaghetti and meatballs for dinner, have a glass of wine and then watch a good tv show. Tomorrow should be a better day.

Julia woke early the next morning and dressed for work,She put on the tv to hear the weather reports. The weatherman said the roads were still very wet and some were flooded. She quickly ate some toast and got in her car for the ride to her office.

Julia was concentrating very hard on the road and drove very slowly. She arrived at her office where her boss was sitting and waiting for her. He gave her a big smile when she entered. He brought the contracts to her desk and thanked her for coming in with some roads still being closed. He told her to take the rest of the day off.

Driving back home she was singing along with the radio to relax . Out of nowhere came a big bang and she felt her car being pushed. She immediately turned the engine off and ran out of the car. At the same time a very handsome man got out of his car and ran to her. "Are you all right. I am so sorry. My car slipped into a watery hole and I lost control of it. That is when I hit your car. Are you sure you are okay" Yes, said Julia . Are you okay." A little shaken up but otherwise I am fine. Don't worry it was my fault and I will pay for the repairs on your car. Let's park the cars off the road and call for an auto repair company. " Julia agreed and she kept staring at this man who was well-groomed, classicly handsome with blue eyes and blonde hair. Once again he repeated "I hope you weren't hurt. Let me introduce myself . My name is Jaque Letrix but most people here in the US call me Jake. My company in Franch closed a few months ago and my boss suggested that I meet with his friend from Pennsylvania who was looking for a staff person who under stood both French and USA financial laws. I was hired and I am living in the US for a year now. What about you?" "Not much to say my name is Julia and I am a Pennsylvania lawyer who found her nich in family law.

Julia and Jack were so busy talking to one another that they almost missed the auto repair man and his truck when he came to look at both cars. He loaded the cars into his truck and took their names and phone numbers. "I will have an estimate on the cost for both cars very shortly,

There was only one free rental car at the repair shop so Julia and Jack agreed to share the one car. By that time they exchanged their phone numbers and addresses and agreed to speak to one another.

They took turns using the rental car every other day. Often they would call one another and Julia would pick up Jake and then Jake would pick up Julia .

As the months' past Jack and Julia found how much they enjoyed being with each other. They enjoyed the same movies and shows and dining out. In the winter they skied together, In the summer they played tennis and enjoyed swimming. They celebrated their birthdays in October, Julia's birthdate was October 7 and Jake's was October 10th. They visited France and time was magical, Julia adored Jake's mom and she taught her a lot about French cooking. Julia promised his younger sister that she can visit them in Pennsylvania during school breaks.

They started out as friends. After a few months they became more than friends. They both had fallen deeply in love. Jack gave Julia a beautiful engagement ring and the next step was marriage.

Their wedding was held one year later than the first season of rain. Julia's sister was her maid of honor and Jakes younger sister was a bridesmaid.

When their vows were read both Julia and Jake spoke about the rain as a sign of love and

happiness. Without the rain they never would have met.
